Navy +21.5 @ Ohio State - Triple option offense led by Rick Dobbs vs. an Ohio State team that never seems to start the year on a great note. If Navy can move the ball remotely competently they should be able to eat quite a bit of clock. Navy is also laying more points than they gave up per game last year, while returning 7 starters on defense. I also happen to believe that in the event Ohio State gets a large lead late they will be likely to let off the dogs due to Navy being a service academy and the build up towards the game, leaving a backdoor cover wide open.
New Mexico @ Texas A&M UNDER 55.5 - Two new quarterbacks starting for teams that pretty awful last season(with one coming off a bad knee injury), plus a new offensive system for New Mexico. Last year's game finished up 28-22 at New Mexico... but I'm having trouble seeing the Lobos putting up more than 14 offensively on the road with a potentially gimpy QB, which makes it tough to cover the 55.5 over... unless Texas A&M ends up surprising me in a huge way.
Tennessee -30 vs. Western Kentucky - Tennessee already had one of the top defenses in the nation last season, and get's Monte Kiffin... more than likely there will be some growing pains with the new system, but that shouldn't matter against the toothless WKU offense. WKU was already horrible at passing, and they are going to be starting a career backup Brandon Smith(Sr.)... paired up with a leading returning rusher with all of 388 yards and you've got a recipe with a shutout, and the real potential to end up in the negative on the scoreboard when facing All-Everything safety Eric Berry. Jonathan Crompton was terrible during most of 2008, but has demonstrated an ability to hit the long ball in the past... and WKU will be replacing their entire defensive backfield. Add in a completely inexperienced defensive line, and one returning linebacker... and its a recipe for 200+ yards rushing plus the potential for big plays in the Tennessee passing game vs. a coach in Lane Kiffin who is going to be out to make a point in his first game. I am feeling pretty strong about this one, but do yourself a favor and keep an eye on the Bowling Green offense Thursday night... former Tennessee OC Dave Clawson SOMEHOW got the head coaching job there. If BGSU's offense is suddenly incredibly incompetent, it might be a sign to expect some improvement in Tennessee's offense. The inverse also holds true.

Ice4Blood your work is amazing and appreciated. I understand that you don't want trash talking but I just have to say something. I don't understand why someone who doesn't have a name in covers would go and say something like " I don't understand why you pick that team....." towards someone who has a name in covers and a good record under their belt. It just doesn't make any sense. I don't want to put names as to avoid dumb posts like mine.
SORRY

scools12: Bama has had the entire preseason to prepare for Darren Evans and Tyrod Taylor. Evans out (unfortunate) leaves a HUGE load for Taylor- who is an avg QB that can run sideline to sideline. That isnt going to be easy going against what will more than likely be the best D in the nation. As for Bama only returning 4 Off. starters, not really. Ingram had over 700 yds LY behind Coffee and now the starter from 07 (Terry Grant) is back from injury. More of the same at the WR's- scattered starters from LY. A more accurate number would be more like 8. The only '?' is at QB- which will not be a factor in this game.
Bama will ground n' pound VT offensively with the big guys up front, and will suffocate those poor frosh RB's and Tyrod with thier defense.
Take Bama -6.5 31-17

Miami Hurricanes +6.5 Too many points for the Noles to give in this rivalary game and I look for the Canes to have a good year. Miami could very well win this game.

Im also eying the SCar game. Its hard to go against The HBC on opening games. I believe he is 62-1 all time on season openers, cant remember. I know his only openeing loss was way back when he was just HC at Duke. Something to think about especially when they are getting 5 pts.

You guys have definitely sold me on Minny, So my three + 1 are as follows:
Oklahoma - They scored over 50pts seven times last year, combine that with a Stoops led defense = Blowout.
Georgia - I'm not sold on OkState, a couple of weapons on offense but that's about it. Georgia only ? is at Qb but Joe Cox is underrated and is gonna turn heads(I'm from N.C., saw the kid in high school).
Oregon - I'm not superstitious so I don't believe in the mystique of the blue field. Boise is gonna get beat period.
Minnesota - wasn't on it before, but after reading this thread gonna def. throw some cash on it.
Let's Get It!!
