All the more reason to not give the ball back with 1.29.

BINGO.
There were many with 22+ secs, but NONE with less than 10 secs.
Even with 4 mins left, they should have been bleeding the clock - but CERTAINLY when they got inside of the 20.

There is no guarantee you are scoring. down less than 3 you can do that if you trust your kicker but down 6 you cannot gamble that you will score anyway and try to run the clock down before you score.
thats what i think

The funny thing is that the fans rushed the field, so he had about 3 minutes to figure out he should go for 2.
It is mindboggling.
That could have decided the national championship.

I was waiting for this.
There are 2 scenarios you have to consider:
A. TT scoring at least a FG with 1 timeout and 1.29 left.
B. You NOT scoring from the 1 yd line on 2 plays.
I would say A is about 65%, and B is about 10%.
Think about it.

The above is the decision you are faced with. Think about it. Which is more likely - that you score on 2 plays from the 1 or TT doesnt get at least a FG with 1.29?
No question it is scoring from the 1.

Van - I couldn't agree more with both points. I also made a post immediately when Tech didn't go for 2 at the end. The stupdidity is inexcusable...yet we continue to see it week after week.
I was praying Texas returned the kickoff for a TD and won by 1, just so someone for once would have to explain their stupid decisions. In that situation it is a NO BRAINER going for two. What does a 6 point lead do for you there?
Absolutely nothing
