You're right...  I guess VT doesn't want to go to a BCS bowl.

This game is truley a pick !! Any argument on either side is valid. I am taking B.C. because I think their a little stronger on the offense and defensive lines. I beleive this game could go either way and will be decided by a feild goal late in the 4th quater. That is why I am only putting 1 unit on the game. I am waiting to read your write up, it should be interesting !

BC is disciplined. They dont do fancy stuff that gets them in trouble. Run straight at you and play good defense. But, you could insert VT at the beginning and it would be the same. Now that Beamer has removed the cancer, aka Glennon, from the lineup, things should be a little differant on the Hokie offensive side. Subtract a given 2 turnovers and add a chance to escape the pocket and make plays, mainly with the feet/speed of Ty Taylor...... I think the under is a better play than either side, but gl just the same bro.

my thoughts:

BC...revenge from last year.  Won by 5 points after 5 turn-overs.  Defenses are equal...Special Teams aren't "due" when they haven't show up yet this season, at least not impressively.  BC young QB...but they will earn yards by rushing...only passing to set-up up the run.  VT lacks one thing...that's an offense.  17 points on duke?  VT's QBs have 5 passing TDs and double that in interceptions.

I'm not one for pretty write-ups, never have been, never will be.  I respect your diligence on games...looking forward to your comments.

I may play Florida tomorrow and UC...BIG...b/c of two reasons...I lean that way on those games...and I am a homer of both.  So I respect the VT pick...and wish you the best either way.  If you win...even better, bud.  I'm not a hater...

Just posted my first pick on covers.com in BC, and then open up to read you're on VaTech.   From reading, I know this one is personal for you as a Hokie!  Best of Luck my friend.  Enjoy reading your thoughts as well as some of the other fun characters on this site.

Boston College is rolling right now.  Since their two tough losses against North Carolina and Clemson, BC has played incredible football. And theyre doing it with DEFENSE.  In the 4 games since Clemson, Boston College's Defense has allowed 6 offensive Touchdowns and scored 4 of their own. In that 4 game stretch, BC has 11 interceptions.  Theyve gotten to the QB as well sacking Skinner 4 times and Turner 5.  Granted their offense hasnt done a WHOLE lot, but they have been productive.  This is their 3rd Qb this year, and they're still winning.  Their D gives them the ball in great field position regularly forcing TOS and winning the field position battle. And I have no problem saying this: Dominique Davis is pretty good.  Shaky in his first serious playing time appearance vs Wake with the two fumbles ( to be expected with a freshman in a big spot), he was able to drive the Eagles 70 yards on 5/6 throwing for 72 yards and a drive ending TD run.  His next game out he had no turnovers and 2 TDs  Rest assured Davis can and will get the job done. 

Now we look at the Hokies, who have scored over 23 pnts 3 times (vs Nebraska, Furman and Western Kentucky).   Against tough defenses, they struggle, with losses to Miami, Florida St, and BC.  Vatech moves the ball with the rush.  BCs rush Defense is 7th in the nation against the rush.  It's no secret that Tyrod Taylor is a run first/throw second QB.  The Eagles know this, and their LBS are skilled enough to contain him.  They can also confortably bring an extra man up, with little fear in their corners getting beat deep and even less fear that Glennon or Taylor can get the ball to them even if they do.  VaTech has survived on on or two big plays on offense to score.  Most of these plays have come on the ground.  BC can and will stop the run.   Down the stretch, in their last 6 games, VTech (3-3) has averaged 18.5 pnts/game.  Their Offense is averaging under 15, as they only scored 9 TDS in those 6 games.  The Hokies are incapable of coming back from 2 score or late game deficits as they lack the ability to make big plays in the air.

I've watched BC football for as long as I can remember (starting just before Flutie's pass) and I see almost no angle on the winning side.  However, I absolutely love the Under.  Even down now at 37.5.  BC will be TIGHT and play conservative (which would put me on VT except for the Coach Jags X factor...watch how much they love playing for him).  Fortunately, their defense has hard-nosed guys all over the place and they play with swagger.  Both of these teams have to be running low on defensive TDs after their recent games.  VT will absolutely block at least one kick (yes...I know their ST aren't the same as in years past, but BC's kick protection is very shaky), but the Hokie offense will really struggle against BC's front 7.  This has the makings of a great 12-10 game for everybody that likes defensive football.  Sadly, for BC fans like myself, our kicker - while a feel-good story last year - is awful.  Another reason for the Under....and maybe a lean to VT.
