Week 1 college football

Florida St (-10') vs. Georgia Tech.  The first big game of the 2024 college football season and I feel like a kid on Christmas morning!  I'm not playing this one, although I have a slight lean to the Seminoles as chalk. Fact is, in this transfer portal era, we don't know how good a team is until they step on the field.  We know FSU is talented, and Mike Norvell brought in the 6th ranked transfer class, but it can take time to build chemistry, and in my mind QB DJ Uiagalelei is a bit of a downgrade from Jordan Travis. On the other hand, Brent Key has 9 starters back on offense for Tech, and since taking over is 4-0 SU vs. ranked ACC teams, so there's that.  The line just seems a little short to me, after being bet down from 13'.  Gun to my head, I'd probably play the under 55 if anything.  I'm actually rooting for GT to win outright, since it would create tremendous value in the line next week against Georgia St. 

Under is looking better and better.

 Yeah, it's a classic sandwich game; off a huge upset win over FSU in Dublin, some serious jet lag from the trip home, and another ACC game at Syracuse on deck.  Georgia St. is not a good team, but they may be good enough to stay within three TDs in this spot!

 Just a lean is all. After watching all the favs poop the bed in Week 0, Ima gonna be VERY selective in laying chalk, especially on the road or at neutral sites!

 Very possible.  I'm not questioning Miami's talent, just their coach!  He could screw up a good wet dream!  And you gotta go back a number of years to see the last time Florida lost an opener at the Swamp!  Still leaning hard towards the home pooch here.

 Just looked it up.  Florida has won 33 straight home openers since 1989!  Just sayin'......

 I agree, especially after watching FSU yesterday.  The Canes have the talent to at least get to the ACC championship game, more than likely against Clemson.

I'm off the North Carolina lean after reading some good intel on Dirtbag's thread.  Plus, the Heels are now favored.  Also, I'm off Kentucky, now at -28 (I don't play over/unders, but that game has an under vibe to it), and I'm off USC, now down to +4'.  The other seven leans are still in play.  Curious that Vegas downgraded FSU (from -21' to -17 over BC) a lot more than they upgraded GT (from -21 to -22).  Actual plays will be posted Thursday, probably three or four.  Normally I'll post em on game day, but I'll be on the road this weekend for my uncle's funeral. Hopefully I've got some winners! 

Sam Houston St. is definitely on my radar.  HC Keeler has had great success at the FCS level, and even though they suffered through an 0-8 start in year one with the FBS, they finished strong, winning three of their last four games.  They also had a record of 6-2-1 ATS as a dog, so they were competitive despite the 3-9 record.  They also have a lot of production back from a year ago, and even though Rice looks to be improved as well, HC Bloomgren is just 4-8-1 ATS as chalk, including 0-2 when laying double digits!
