I'd love to take Kentucky -1.5 over Louisville, but I think the number will be more like 7.

I would really like (intially, of course) Northwestern getting 3.5 against Vandy.  I don't like Vanderbilt's offense, and I feel that Northwestern could contain Vandy's running game with a potentially-good front seven on defense.  Northwestern will be efficient on offense which should be enough to overcome the Commodores here.  I would actually make around NW -3.5, but I would jump at the opportunity to take the Cats getting points.

I would take out a personal loan on UNC +6.  Jordan Jefferson is erratic (I know Yates is significantly better ... but UNC's run defense!) on mistake prone.  Then, if you look at the talent along the d-line and the lb's for Carolina, you see A SHITLOAD of NFL-caliber talent.  Yates has some live competition this year in Renner, and they should be much better at the skill positions.  Plus, you simply can't ignore the Les Miles factor.  With Butch Davis, you get a solid gameplan predicated on protecting the ball; as for Les Miles, who the hell knows.

As much as I loathe laying double-digit chalk, I would probably go against my intuition and lay 14 with Arizona.  I love Arizona's potential to become a truly great offense, and I like Arizona's talented secondary going up against Toledo's vaunted (but overmatched athletically in Tucson) passing game.  Also, the temperature will most likely be warm in early-September ... another advantage for Stoops.

SMU getting 15.5 on the Hill against the new Texas Tech regime. I'm taking it. Kyle Padron and June Jones will have the offense putting up points.  Also, I like the Mustang offensvie line.  I watched a few SMU games last year, and I thought their defense was actually fairly underrated.  Taylor Thompson has a ton of potential!  If this game were in November, I might not like it as much, but Tuberville and the new staff, in all likelihood, will still be acclimating to the new environment in Lubbock.

Probably another stupid move, but I would most likely take USC laying 26.5, too.  Lane Kiffin is going to be looking to make a statement (just like he did last year with that beatdown of Western Kentucky, 63-7) in the opener of his era at USC.  The Trojans will have a huge talent discrepancy, and will just have too much speed for UH.  That defensive line will dominate, and they have a ton of experience at linebacker.  Hopefully, I will be fully sober right before kickoff and resist the urge to bet this (if the line is at 26.5).

Like the Wildcats as well but not sure I would lay more than 3.5

LSU looks like it is ready for a huge drop off this season ,... still i think the oddsmakers will favor them in this spot by 5.5+

You are probably right about UNC being around 5.5.  We need to see some more progression from Yates in fall camp, but I just can't see UNC not bringing its best game here.  I used to post here about six years ago, but I just didn't have enough time to properly invest in handicapping until recently.  It's great to be back!

Why is Pitt +3? I think its a pick or Pitt is favored...

Here's what I have after reading up on both teams...

Pitt has 11 returning starters   5 off  6 def
Dion Lewis is back (Nation's 3rd best rusher)
Top 2 WR's are back (Baldwin and Shanahan) Both are 6'5
Pitt has a very strong D
Only ? is inexperience at QB + starting on the road 

Utah's crowd will be electric
Utah returns 10 starters   7 off  3 def
Utah returns 4 starters on OL
Both QB and RB return
Very inexperienced on D


My take is that both O's have big playmakers and will score, but Pitt's D will be the difference creating TO's.

figure SC may only be around 8-9 against So Miss, might have to look at SM if catching DD

probably UNC-LSU total around 36-37

not sure I could trust Iowa St laying DD, although did win a few by more than that margin LY

With you on S. Miss + the double digits....... I keep reading alot of pundits that really Like South Carolina this season ... currently I have have the Cocks 3rd in the SEC East behind Florida and Georgia ..... also worth noting, South Carolina has a monster game on deck vs Georgia  

I hope that LSU vs UNC total is closer to 40.... but your numbers look right

Not sure about the Cyclones Laying DD's either... I would need 13.5+ to take Northern Illinois...

I would be very careful with USM... It seems to me like they always look very enticing playing big OOC opponents... I remember a couple of years ago when they played at Auburn and were DD dogs... they hung with Auburn for 3 qtrs but got blown out in the 4th... SCar being at home and having the better D will pull this one out.  USM returns 3 starters on offense and 8 on defense... but their defense gave up 25.9 ppg last year.  USM was 1-5 on the road a year ago and gave up an avg of 30.8 ppg in those 6 games.  Needless to say, USM relied heavily on their offense a year ago and won't have that luxury this year.  Their Defense ranked 80th in Total Defense last year.  Although they will be better this year, I don't see them being able to stop USC or move the ball against them.  USC has 7 starters returning off a Defense that ranked 15th in Total Defense and 8th in Pass Defense a year ago.  De;Andre Brown is USM's only hope on offense and he will have a tough day.

My guess is S. Carolina 34  S. Miss 16

I don't think it will be so much Carolina blows them out as it is USM making mistakes and trying to find their identity on offense without Fletcher in their backfield

I think Arizona will blast Toledo. The Rockets defense won't be improved enough early in the year to handle the Wildcats.
