Everyone talks about the 11 Michigan players taken in the draft, but 8
others signed free agency contracts. That’s 19 players for 2017 and they only had 18 draft selections in the 6
years combined before Harbaugh.These
were not Harbaugh’s recruits, these were the 3 & 4 star players that the
previous coaches signed. The one 5 star was Peppers, but others like Darboh,
Braden, Chesson, Smith, Stribling, and Godin were only 3 star players.Ryan Glasgow was a walk on.If Hurst and Mason also left that would have
been 21 players in a single eayr and they were projected as 1st and
2nd round picks.Hurst was a
backup last year and the NFL draft had him projected as a first round pick if
he came out. These players are being coached up like pro players.
The players stepping in now are the ones Harbaugh and Brown selected for
their system. Lewis was a good CB but he was only 5’10.His replacement may be Drake Harris who is 6’4
and runs a 4.4 40.This team will be
faster and very hard hitting. They lost a lot of talent but this defense won’t
miss a step.
Exactly....yes, they lost alot of starting players, but the players this year and recruits coming in next year are that much better. What Harbaugh is doing to this roster is incredible. He already has more 5 Star recruits in the last 2 years then the school had seen the previous 20 years. Harbaugh has stacked this team with SEC talent all over the field. Like I said, they will compete for the playoffs this year....and next year maybe 2 years top, they will win the title

line moved.....because it was WRONG top begin with....simply getting 'corrected'
* fair line is 2-2' or so......I have it at pick 'em > Mich -1 or so
Those (other) 6....are mostly depth guys (3rd string or lower)....none likely back-ups even...Davis started 5 LY but #3 DE out of spring...Desir -Jones mighta played some
Agree ....
I am now on Florida ML for $350.... would not shock me to see this line end at a Pickem

Digesting all of this tells me Florida has the kicking edge.
Florida has the edge with experienced WR's and experienced DB's.
Michigan’s
kicking units are young, but good.Remember, Quinn was the number one kicker and Harbaugh wanted him so
bad that he showed up at 12:01 am the first day he was permitted and had the
slumber party. Then they went to his school classes together the next day.
Florida
only blocked two p/k’s last year.Michigan
“backups” Jocz and Hudson had two each.
With Michigan's blitzing defense, I have a
feeling most of the Florida’s kicking duties that day will rest on the punter.
With Callaway out the W/R edge for Florida is gone. Michigan may go with Freshman 5 star Peoples-Jones (6'2) and Tariq Black (6'4). They each enrolled early and have been throwing with O'Korn and Speight. They also have McDoom, Kekoa Crawford and some very good TE's.
Oh, don't forget Speight's experience and PEP HAMILTON.

Michigan young OLine is young based on just 2 players having meaningful experience while 7 members of gators line has started multiple games.
FWIW, They have experience starting multiple games for the 2016 116th ranked offense and they lost their best tackle.
Michigan senior defensive tackle Maurice Hurst wasn’t afraid this week to give the position group a massive pat on the back.
“The O-line has been the most improved position group so far for us,” Hurst said this week. “They’re really developing depth with some of the younger guys that just got in.”
Three starters from last year’s line are gone. Cole, a center last season, likely will move back to left tackle, where he played his first two seasons. Ben Bredeson started at left guard last season. The other three spots have yet to be settled.
From Hurst’s vantage point, the improved play stems from a better understanding of the offense coordinated by Tim Drevno, who is entering his third season as Jim Harbaugh’s offensive coordinator. Drevno also coaches the offensive line and will handle the interior this fall while new staff addition Greg Frey is coaching the tackles and tight ends.

Man I had Florida as my top week 1 play, was pissed I had waited to lock it in, now I might not play it. Losing Calloway is huge, god what an idiot he is. Line will probably go up slightly now, might still play it but not as confident.

Same here. Was upset when the line dropped from 4 to 2.5. Suspensions hit and the line went to only 3.5. I wanted the 3.5 when Callaway was playing.

Figured I would go back and post in this thread because the newest Michigan-Florida thread is nothing but, "Michigan will dominate and win every game on their schedule the next 3 years.....blah....blah....blah"
I find it interesting that Vegas has not moved the number much on the Michigan vs Florida game despite the 7 Gator suspensions. Tough to get a read on what the Wolverines will look like in week 1 due to so many new guys starting but I think we have a pretty good idea of what Florida will look like out of the gate.
If Florida chooses the right QB it could be a very balanced offense we'll see from them this year. Following the suspensions, I still like Florida +4.

Thank you for bumping this post up!
It is tough to get a read on Michigan and I follow them! But Florida is no better for me either.
Gary Danielson had this to say about Zaire at Florida; https://www.seccountry.com/florida/gary-danielson-malik-zaire-florida
Florida now has only 4 returning starters on D with leading tackler Harris out for the year. A new DC too.
Now I see the Detroit Free Press has a nice quote;
Florida coach Jim McElwain: We're going to 'beat the heck out of Michigan'
Looks like bulletin board material to me.
IMO, Doug Nussmeier is no brilliant OC either.
Thinking the betting line, that was dropping before the suspensions and then jumped up a point, maybe hovering due to no QB's named and it's still early.
I'll be rooting for Michigan but no play for me.

Edge You have done your homework on this game. I've researched this game inside and out. I came to the same conclusions you did so I'm just going to add on to the information you've already provided. First, yes Florida has only 4 "returning starters" but that # is misleading. Fla was ravaged by injury mid season which allowed for a handful of gators to start multiple games, which don't show up as returning starter such as; LB David Reese (5 game starter, sec def player of the week vs. LSU) LB Kylan Johnson (6 game starter 40 tackles 2 forced turnovers +10 lbs in offseason) Safety Chauncey Gardner ( 4 game starter, MVP outback bowl with 2 ints 1 pick 6 and exceptional tackler. Dt Taven Bryan ( no starts but played as many plays as anyone on the DL). In reality they have 8 returning starters on defense. There are are more examples that meet this criteria such as; DE Jabari Zuniga 5 sacks who is a PHil STEELE Preseason all American. DE Jordan Sherit (4.5 sacks 5th year senior). LB's Vosean Joseph and Christian Garcia started the Outback bowl. The 1 concern I have about the defense is the vacant CBC spot opposite of all sec cb Duke Dawson. Hopefully 1 of the 5 4* freshmen dbs can step in admirably.
Offensively, this team is ready to break the shackles that have held them down the previous 2 years of coach JM regime because of poor offensive line and qb play. Combined with an exceptional defense those 2 factors influenced the coaches to implement a conservative offensive game plan. This year will be totally different however, Zaire has the perfect skill set for JM offense with the dual threat capability to go along with the track record of not ever turning the ball over in his career at Norte dame. In terms of the offensive line the gators have 2 tackles that are projected to be first or second round picks. The 3 interior positions have at least 7 players vying for those positions even though those spots have returning starters (depth). Skill position wise, RB Jordan Scarlett and Wr Antonio Calloway are 2 of the best players at their respective positions in the entire NCAA. They supported by alternates and backups that have NFL potential. The offens rounds out by having 2 NFL caliber players at TE. With all of these components you can see whyJM is excited about letting his corralled gators loose.
If that's not enough positive indicators then take hold to this, The fla gators have an all American punter and kicker in Johnny Townsend and Pineda!!!!
In conclusion, Michigan inexperienced roster will not be ready for fla's gameplam because of the Different skill set Zaire will bring to the table and Coach JM willingness to open up the offense. Defensively, fla brings in R. Shannon to run the defense. He should have a golden opportunity to confuse a very young offensive line. For all the reasons and more I was confident to Lay 27 Large on the Florida gators +4 vs Michigan. #wrongteamfavored
Soooo, you only researched one side of the game but you were confident enough to put down $27,000? Do you hate money?

I agree with ya onedge, only have to read the posts to see that Michigan is being picked by Joe public blowhards and big blue homers, not proper cappers. Thinking that raw recruits will step in and not miss a beat Vs an experienced team on a neutral field in Texas LOL. There is likely to be special teams mistakes and penalties for Michigan and I'm sticking with the +points as a play.

for those of us betting this game one eay oe another which positiom groups from each team are better than the others?
I believe michigans d line is better and linebackers I give Michigan edge on both those.
why? Two first rounds d lineman in Gary and Hurst. linebackers I give to Michigan bc Mccray has experience and Bush the new started is supposedly playimg really good for being a soph. fast and smart! word in camp is linebacker play will improve from last season.
? real insight into Florida sqaud?
