40-40-5
Another winning week as I went 4-3 and finally get back to .500 for the year. I had last week pegged and dropped so many winners, it has been that type of year, I'm just having a hard time narrowing down my card this season and finding the best plays. I hate betting over 7 or so plays a week but that is obviously the formula I need to win each week. I'm going to be annoyed for a week or so that I dropped UNC, I knew they would have a chance to beat the Hokies and that spread was stupid. I know I didn't answer some questions from last week's thread and I apologize. I spent the week on the West Coast and wasn't around.
Random Thoughts
It was a very entertaining week in college foots with some exciting matchups and some National Title contenders trying to keep the dream alive.
The Cardiac Kids from Iowa do it again despite 5 Int's from Stanzi. They were playing Indiana though, a team UVA beat by 6 touchdowns. Iowa isn't great, I'm not even sure they are very good but they are an entertaining bunch. The game in Columbus now appears bigger than ever and we will see if that fraud of a QB Pryor will show up and beat a decent team.
I have to give a shout out to Golden and his troops from Temple, not only did they cover for me this week, they won straight up. The Owls are now bowl eligible for the first time since 700 BC. One of the more impressive performances of the week came from their freshman RB Bernard Pierce. This kid is the real deal, he had 29 carries for 267 yards and TD's. I know he plays for Temple and most people could care less about Temple but that kid is a good back, I watched the 2nd half of that game and was very impressed. I wish the Cavs could get Golden and let Groh go.
Case Keenum continues to put up huge numbers in the UH offense. Houston doesn't play much defense but you have to give the offense some credit. They had 750 yards and 39 1st downs, those are some huge numbers. Keenum was an eye-popping 44/54 for 559 yards including 5 TD's (not bad).
The Longhorns of Texas won big in Stillwater despite being outgained by the Cowpokes. Zac Robinson helped the cause throwing 4 picks and giving Texas a few defensive scores. The Horns once again average only 3.1 yards per carry and prove that they can't run the football. The defense is good but I'm not at all impressed with the offense or the offensive line. The good thing for Texas is the fact that the Big12 is so bad this year that they will get a free pass to the National Title Game. Ok, let me get this straight Texas fan, you beat OU without their Heisman winning QB by 3 points (when OU had 17 turnovers) and now you play for the National Title? Wow, impressive! I have become a Texas fan while living in Houston but facts are facts. Texas has played nobody and they aren't an impressive team.
Ducks, Ducks, Ducks! What a show the Ducks put on last night. They have no argument to play for the title because they lost to Boise State on the field. I will not even argue for them. But lets be serious football fans, do you honestly think Alabama would beat that team? The answer is NO. When that offense is clicking like it was last night it can't be stopped at the college level, period, end of story. That was beyond impressive and lets be honest, no team in the country could beat USC by 4 touchdowns. The Ducks are clicking right now and I would suggest staying out of their way. I can see it now, bettors across the land will be screaming "letdown" next week when they roll into Stanford. That will be a mistake, that offense isn't going to have a letdown, they are going to give a beatdown. Coaching performance of the year goes to Mr. Chip K. I doubted his leadership as a head coach after the Boise loss and the Blount debacle and I WAS WRONG. I am man enough to admit when I'm wrong, Oregon is quite simply an unstoppable machine right now and they will bury someone in a BCS bowl. Teams from other conferences have never faced an offense like that and will have no idea what to do with it.
