ASU defense is pretty stout, but yes, their offense is awful, that can't be disputed.
If I somehow see a 10 or 10.5 come along, I may hook it and lay my first road chalk of the year on SC. Can't fathom too many scenarios where ASU scores over 17, and SC should muster 4 TDs no problem.
I already bet 11, but I just got a 10.5 one place, not happy about that as I'm a line person, but honestly, I would have laid anything under 14, I see a 37-10 result, that ASU QB is so bad that the USC defense may outscore the ASU offense

College football tough this year....all major newsletters (the best) only 50 %
yeah, I just started off really bad and had an 0-11 week which was a huge setback, but the tide is turning and I'm back to almost normal now, should be good the rest of the way

I pretty much agree with your top ten, however, Cincy is rated way too highly. Who have they played??? Iowa has beaten 3 top 25 teams so far, two at their places. Bama can't pass, too one dimensional. Texas can't really run, but they have a top flight QB. Right now, TCU, Boise, Florida, and Oregon look like Championship teams. Wouldn't that be something to see Boise and TCU in THE Game???

Without bitching and moaning too much, this has really been a once-in-a-decade sort of season (in my opinion at least) where it just seems like the gambling gods are looking out for the public. I didn't have Northwestern, but how many PSU backers liked their chances -17 tied late in the 3rd? They all cashed. An ocean of people on UH -6.5. Does UH kick the FG to win by 3? Nope, they get a relatively long td with :28 left to send everyone home happy. Did most GT backers expect that Vandy would have 31 in the 3rd? Nope, but they all cashed too. LSU needs to cover 36, and drives the length of the field on the ground in the last 90 seconds to get its cover, 42-0. OSU covers 44, 45-0. Boise needs to cover 36.5, so they get a 36-yard td run with :20 left. Its just been that kind of year.
Sorry about UK and for talking you off of UNC. Navy and Duke were winners, though. That Temple game was nuts.

Maine - I've only been at this about four years, but I've never seen anything like this, so it's reassuring to hear you echo the thoughts that are buzzing in my head. Glad someone as seasoned as you can confirm this year is an anomaly. I've never seen such bad teams, and that's relative to the prior four years I've really paid attention, and it extends all the way to the top teams straight down to the bottom.

Heck, I thought you were the old, grizzled veteran. Without tuning this into a treastise in Wahoos' thread, a lot of folks have asked me over the past couple of years why I "win all the time" in college football. Well, I think I "win all the time" because I lost all the time for the better part of a decade before this. In the process, I learned how to stay away from "fools gold" plays, and got pretty good sense of how things would play out on the field even if the prior results seemed to counsel otherwise. I also learned to value certain things (the presence or absence of playmakers, solid quarterbacking, particularly away from home, coaching, overall team speed) that I hadn't focussed on too much in the past. This year, nothing seems to matter. When I have the wrong side, I've gotten punished. If I've had a lucky win this year, I can't remember it. When I've had the right side, I've too often been the victim of the blocked kick (always returned for the TD, by the way), the pick-6, the goal-line turnover(s), bad calls, locust, hail, whatever. All you can do is to keep plugging away. What I am NOT going to do this week is to run away from the obvious public play. Houston is WAY better than Tulsa. I don't care if the line is doing jumping-jacks, I'm betting it. Ditto Oregon, and Oklahoma. If I'm going down, I'm going down with 75% of the public.

GL Wahoo - nice work fighting your way back. After last week, I am on the wrong side of the ledger again and will need to stay patient the rest of the way as these lines tighten up. I am still howling after the fuck job in the Indiana game on Saturday. It's going to take me a while to get over that one.

you didn't memtion the iowa indiana game. third and 2 from the 25 for iowa and one more first down and they kneel it out. the guy runs it in to cover. I thought that was unreal. I would have hated to have indiana...really bad beat. +17 up outright 24-7

that was one of the worst beats of the year for Hoosier backers, glad I wasn't one of them, I would be sick to my stomach with that game

Like that La Tech bet, but I'm concerned about the status of Livas and Porter. Got anything on those two other than questionable?
no, but questionable when playing a home game against an undefeated number 5 team in the country means probable to me I think the defenses play a factor here and keep it relatively low scoring, 30-17 seems about right, I would take that

That 0-11 week shook you something fierce bro, and understandably. That however, was an onamaly. You've always been solid and I think you need one of these plays to boost yourself. Last week, you had more winniers but dropped them. I'm not saying it should be this week or next, but I think once the large money bet happens you will tunr the corner my friend....
Also, its time for the smoking cat to make a cameo....

Sorta agree Wahoo. Livas has been playing with a turf toe practically the whole year but still gets out there. Porter's backups seem more than capable as well.
Thanks bro.

I have bet 7 Large Money games since the 0-11 week bro, just opted to not post them, I challenged to myself to post "regular" winners, I know I can win posting Large Money but that does me no good, I had to prove myself after going 0-11 and I kind of like that challenge, I'm just a weird personality bro, I like the feeling of a challenge in front of the whole forum, everyone knows I went 0-11 and was 12 games under .500 but I have climbed back up now and will continue to make the climb, at least that is the goal

Im a horns fan as well. Let me start by saying this...I had my doubts too. Now, after the last 2 weeks, the Horns are the best team in the country without a shadow of a doubt. Defense / Offense/ S. Teams (not even close). They are peaking and asserting there will on whomever. The opponent doesn't matter. This is one of the best defenses in recent memory much less this year. I would put this team against anyone right now. Scary thing is, no one, NO ONE is even gonna challenge this bunch here on out. Texas has to be the odds on favorite.

Maineroad, on the Houston front door cover USM had jumped offside so it was a free play and Keenum just threw it up to Edwards who was wide open because the CB thought the play was stopped.
I had Houston -6.5 so it was pretty great, but giving back an 18 point lead with less than 10 minutes wasn't pretty great so the front door cover was justified by the fact that they should never have been backdoored in the first place.
I actually felt sorry for Bill Lynch with some of the BS that went against him in that game (and the Michigan game for that matter). That program just can't catch a break. They finally get a legit head coach and two years later he dies. After the last two weeks I will be impressed if this group doesn't just mail it in.
GL this week Wahoo. Take a look at Kent if you can tolerate a road favorite in a mid-major conference.
Nice to see all of you.

I did not include the IU/UI game because, if I recall, the public was slightly on the wrong side of that fiasco. I bet VERY little Big 10 football, so I was mercifully uninvovled.
As for UH, I did not realize that the Cougs had ever gotten up by as much as 18; but you're right, at least there was some rough justice in them getting the cover (for most, at least), having bascially been covering all day.
LaTech is interesting. We often talk about "home field advantage" around here, and we usually think in terms of Autzen or Tiger Stadium or the Swamp - basically really loud places. There are other teams, though, that are seemingly entirely different animals at home (by a factor that would dwarf the 4-5 points you credit most places for "loud"). LaTech is clearly one of those (UVa, BC, Wazzou, before they de-emphasized football, Hawaii, Tulsa, come to mind as potential others from the recent past). Going back to 2004, there has only been one Bulldog home loss of more than 21 points. Of course, LaTech doesn't play a ton of home games, and they don't play too many top-five-type teams when they do, but I suspect the Techsters are the right side of this one.

I don't know how much better Tulsa is than Louie Tech, probably a little, but Tulsa stayed with Boise and kept it respectable, I don't see any reason La Tech can't keep it within 3 touchdowns at home, they have nothing to lose, all the pressure is on the Broncos, I don't think it is a GREAT play by any means but one worth putting some scratch on, at least for me

Hello WahooS, good luck this week. Let's keep plugging away. I have been extremely profitable myself this year, except I took a bad beat since Sunday...and the pain continued again last night with MNF and the World Series. (As a rooke baseball better, and now a newly retired one, I must say I think the World Series is just rigged.)
Anyway, you have talked up Oregon all week, did I miss your play on Oregon -5? Are you going to join me in this game? I am usually one to play the opposite of easy lines, but I believe Oregon is for real. I hope I'm not waiting in line for the public slaughter.
