Kevin Riley will have to improve vastly for Cal to go a long way
I thought Riley played great....17-26 (65.4%) 298 yds, 4TDs, 0 int. Aside from the stats, I was more impressed with his decision making against the blitz happy Maryland defense. He made a number of throws under pressure...even getting hit after some throws...and still completing. He will improve as the season progresses, but I'd be happy with those number on a regular basis.
I also thought Riley looked vastly improved as a thrower this year. Aside from the stats, he just looked like his mechanics were improved and his reads were better than LY.

Thanks a lot for the adv Wahoos. I havent thought in the game time. I will be doing more research for week 2 and I let u know if I find more games.

Texas game last week with ULM was very disapointing. Blame it on Mack Brown. He stopped trying to score after he heard that OU lost and Bradford was out. The 4th team allowed ULM to score a backdoor. He really pisses me off...When USC passes Texas in the rankings and wins the rest of its games, and Texas with its weak schdule beats a marginal OU team on Oct 17 without Sam Bradford, Mack Brown is going to regret not demonstrating how good this team is. Texas could have won this game by 70 points, but what did they do, they chumped around and allowed a backdoor cover.
You may want to do some more research on Texas injuries and player eligibility issues. 2 backups and one starter were suspended for the ULM game and it appears will not play against Wyoming. In addition we have a few more injuries. But, it would be just like Texas to blow Wyoming out...
Please read (from my Texas susbscription source)
Linebacker Jared Norton, due to a shoulder tweak, and Michael Huey, due to an ankle sprain, are officially out and will not play Saturday at Wyoming.
Christian Scott, Brandon Collins and Deon Bealsey as of right now are not expected to be available for Saturday's game either. All three are clearing up academic issues related to credits/degree progress and are still waiting to hear back from the NCAA on their status. It is possible the NCAA will make a decision on each before Saturday's game, but for now they are officially out.

tough back door push with ULM/Texas, I know I had the right side there and what happened is very unlikely, I made a bad call on Minnesota and just gave their squad too much credit, that Golden Gopher bunch is not a good football team, live and learn, still kind of laughing at the Ole Miss game because I actually had to watch it and pay attention
What I take away from this week
Ohio St. is slow on both sides of the ball
LSU was outplayed by a Huskie team that was 0-12 last year, the Tigers just aren't that good defensively
Jevan Snead is vastly overrated and not close to McCoy, which is why he couldn't win the job @ Texas in the first place, he may be solid but he isn't special
Minnesota will not be a good football team all season, Weber sucks
Utep is garbage again this year and should be nice fade material against teams with a decent defense
Turner Gill can just coach, he is winning with Buffalo
Kevin Riley will have to improve vastly for Cal to go a long way even though they have an awesome backfield, Jahvid Best might be able to outrun my car
UCLA's QB play still sucks
New Mexico and New Mexico St are both laughable and should be good fade material until the lines are inflated
Tulane is terrible again
Miami Oh is terrible again
the Texas defense will need serious improvement if they want to play against a team like Florida
Florida is easily the best team in college football
Blount can throw a punch
I'm glad to have some college football back
my bookie is NOT glad college football is back

man, i really wanted to bet Oregon in this game... before the season started i was looking at this as one of the best bets of the year... but the stupid Blount incident and terrible play-calling by Chip Kelly have me worried about how they will come out for this game...
i should probably be assuming they will be pissed and out to prove something... line is 10 points lower than it would have been if it were set prior to week 1 games... and OU has the extra 2 days of preparation...
i guess i am trying to talk myself back into it... line has already climbed back over 11 at most places...

i would also have to disagree about Riley... he looked sharp as a tack Saturday night, which didn't surprise me... guy was highly touted and this is finally his team... behind a great O-line with a great running game, he will have lots of time and lots of open WRs... i think he can keep this up...

I think he played a solid game against Maryland, but I have to see more of that out of him before I would put Cal as a contender, I honestly think if he can play great and make quality decisions then Cal could win the Pac-10 this season, their backfield is the best in college football, they just need good consistent QB play to be a contender

I have had this game circled all summer and now I'm getting huge line value because of Blount being out and Oregon playing bad on national television in front of the whole country, Purdue is a middle of the road Big 10 team with a very questionable defense, I see the Ducks hanging 45 on them, I would be willing to lay 16 here myself and would recommend it under 13 to others, just my opinion but I don't see a close ending

i think you're right... i've been trying to tell myself not to bet on terrible coaches, and Kelly is terrible...
but the Big 10 looked horrendous in week 1, and Autzen is a really tough place to play... i'll have to get back on this one...
liking TCU and Tulsa also... UNC line looks shady... fixed on most of my card, just looking to add 1 or 2 more... i think Oregon will be one of them...

re: Oregon. Keep in mind that was a young O line in a hostile environment. They should do much better with out all the noise as they get working together. They obviously haven't got it figured out nonverbally yet, but that shouldn't be a problem for the next four weeks. Probably struggle more on the road.

I just lost the FSU bet (-5). However, I just saw an start in this young guy Harris. He is amaizing. what throw, he made over the corner. Miami might win a lot of games this season with this young talent. I will see the GTech line on week 3. Maybe, it's going to be a pay back time too as happened to FSU tonight. What do you this for that game Wahoo? Miami handled the run pretty well tonigh some more adjustments for that game that they might win GTech.

Over 60 wouldn't be too bad either.

already jumped on it... late start time should be trouble for Purdue... i see an easy cover... line would have been 21-24 if Oregon had covered and Purdue hadn't covered... too much value to pass up...

a side note to duck mess......I was at the Boise game and have (some) inside knowledge.... the suggestion that Kelly might struggle (shot down by ME earlier).....might be even more true than Boise game might suggest
during 2nd quarter.,.....Bellotti.....who was on the sidelines for some reason.......found it necessary to go over to Kelly and obviously make a "suggestion"........this of course was noticed by players.....who were later seen openly yelling at Kelly.......didn't see it personally.....but some said they saw very heated "discussions" between Kelly and assistants....> a clipboard thrown ?
the problem Kelly may have had is that I believe this is the 1st time he has called plays from the sidelines (always in the box) .....fine if you listen to what the guys upstairs are telling you.....but NO.....if you ignore them.....which looks like what he was in fact doing....
SO.......ducks COULD have even more problems than what we think.......a bounceback may not be so automatic......that said I did make a small "value " play on the ducks.......agreed about 10 points less than what it would have been......would definitely fight any urges to go big on ducks until further notice
The impediment to action advances action - what stands in the way becomes the way.

bookie... i am with you 100% on Oregon... i am playing this game because it is a good situation... if there is a game we can expect them to bring a strong effort, out of pride, this is it...
but i saw enough from Kelly to know i will not be betting on the ducks very often...
it is as much a bet against Purdue, and a bet on a favorable situation...
