I went with LSU on the money line for this game.  Too much value to pass up.  I have watched Alabama and LSU extensively this season.  LSU has been the much more impressive team.  Harris has been steadily improving, Fournette is the best player in college football.  Whenever I can get a team at this kind of value, with a stud like Fournette backing me I like my chances.  Coin flip game, 2 very good teams, Bama has played some close games at home against some average competiton + lost to Ole Miss at home.  I like LSU here in this spot.  Good luck this week Relax_Dude!

Kevin Steele, LSU's D-Coordinator was Alabama's LB coach last year.  He knows that boring a$$ offense inside and out.  Harris for LSU - 0 INT's, Coker - 7 INT's.  Too many things favoring LSU in this game.  This line should be way closer IMO.  At most if you want to give Alabama the home field edge the line should be maybe -1 or -2.  But I think LSU wins by a TD +.

What don't you like about Harris?  Against arguably the best D in the conference in Florida he had a 68.2 completion %, 2 TD's and 200+ yards.  He has 0 INT's on the season, and can extend plays with his feet.  I have seen a guy making steady improvements all season when I have watched him.

LSU alum chiming in..........I am with degen in that I don't trust Harris. He is improving, but he isn't somebody I want to have to lead the 2 minute drill at the end of the game. Many years, this game comes down to that.

That being said, I don't think Coker is special either. 

Should be another barn burner but I know this, regardless of whatever happens in the game tomorrow there will be a shat ton of haters on here disparaging both teams........................

@Win4ever--Thank you for contributing , and agree with everything you say. My confidence in Harris is high, in Coker I do not trust, and I do not like the 3rd down play calling.Bama secondary is very good, and they have 8 INTs, so it isn't easy. I think it will be harder on Coker. I think the front 4 and front seven are gonna be in Cokers grill all game long.
Going through strengths I rate them:

Offensive line--LSU
Defensive front--Alabama
RB--LSU
Receivers--Alabama
Coaching--Alabama
QB--LSU
Secondary--EVEN

If we can get the right play calls outs Miles, the advantages at o-line, RB and QB will rise to the occasion.

Not a case of the QBs failing that would bring about the under--its the fact that both teams are committed to stopping the run game of the opponent and forcing the other side to make plays through the air. I think LSU can force Bama's passing game more often--when LSU does throw, they will have better fortune than Coker and Bama.

Plus I do not think for a second that LSU will play like Ole Miss, hurry up offense, or like Tex A and M  a few years back w/ Johhny FB, or as Oklahoma or Ohio State has done to Alabama--the inability to  get substitutions in on defense is a successful formula to beating Allabama. I wish it were part of LSU's arsenal, but alas, it is not.I only hope that is LSU gets the lead, they try to extend. A close low scoring game is what both these teams are headed for.

It will come down to do you think Harris is going to have the game of his life tomorrow? The teams that have beat Saban while at Alabama have played out of their mind in the game to beat Bama. I was wondering has Harris ever played on the road in a hostile environment in a heavy rainstorm with 10-15 MPH winds. While that is not a lot of wind it can be with a wet football and a soaking wet ground with footing issues. It is supposed to rain pretty much all day tomorrow and tomorrow night in Tuscaloosa. Harris will have to win this game for LSU you can bet on that. Fournette is the best back in football this year (maybe ever) and will get his carries and yards but he will struggle to get to 100-150 yards against the Bama D. That will not be enough for LSU to win the game. Like I said it will come down to can Harris carry LSU on his shoulders for the W. Also have heard from a friend close to Bama that the players are pissed that Henry is not getting more respect. Doesn't really mean much but they may play with a chip on their shoulder trying to get him a better game than Fournette. It could also backfire with them pressing to much. As stated above the O-Line for Bama is not nearly as good as the past few years. Wish someone would hire Cristobal off the staff for us. He is a great recruiter but under him the Bama O-line has not been as good as under previous coaches. To me it seems that some lineman have actually regressed since he has been the O-line coach. The LSU defense is almost as good as the Bama D. LSU has the best Defense that no one is talking about. You will hear a lot of people say Saban is great off of a bye week but he is really barely over .500 of a bye not sure why people think he is so great coming off a bye. He is great against a team after losing to them the year before but this does not come into play in this game. Kevin Steele will have very little if any effect at all in this game. Coaches leave and go to opposing programs all the time and the former team makes adjusts because of the matchup. He was pretty much told to leave if he wanted to move up so he did. Will probably be a revenge factor for him but will not be enough to make a difference. Both of these coaches will play not to lose this game for 3 quarters and then they will say oh $hit we are supposed to try and win this game and then it will come down to which team can make a play or drive late to win the game. Same as it has been since both coaches have been at Bama and LSU playing each other. Pick who you want but I will take the Under, Bama money line and throw a little on Bama to cover. Just my thoughts but what do I know.

You know a lot! Great write-up

You are a Bama backer, but an LSU backer has to hope that Miles has slowly prepared Harris to handle a big time throw. Looks to me as though he did not have confidence in him early in the year. Fournette got a lot of carries, and there were low scoring games and tight games as a result. I remember the Miss State game, that Zak had a slow start, but he had the confidence of his coaches, while Harris did not. This made that game a closer one than it had to be. LSU had two penalties that called back huge run plays. If there is the same level of no confidence in Harris, I'm afraid for LSU faithful that it will be a tough game on Fournette alone. Because both teams are relying on the run game and stopping it on defense, the passing game becomes crucial, and even more so in the rain. Coker doesn't throw in the middle of the field very often. His most critical passes in key 3rd down situations, are sideline passes lobbed into receivers with a height advantage. I think that can backfire--too easy to intercept. All Harris has to do is to connect downfield, rifle in passes on key 3rd downs, and the rushing attack will do the rest. The 6 points is for the home field, but as I pointed out, home field is immaterial in this series. I see advantages on offense for LSU. You have to take the points here based on that information. I understand as a fan, it feels better to have a ML wager on Bama, as opposed to taking the 6 points for what you see will be a close game.Under is better for Bama backers I believe than a ML.

The o-line for Bama is down this year. A good o-line is needed for Bama traditionally, and most go the the pros. I have seen Henry tackled for a loss in the backfield several times this year, in several games. I have not seen Fournette tackled for a loss yet--even once. I watched a lot of SEC football. This advantage at o-line will be the difference.

Coker will be in 3rd and long too often. Harris on 3rd and short gives a pass or run option.

Very well spoken head_dx...that pretty much sums it up. I doubt Fournette will see 150 yds. on saturday....maybe 100. Even when we played Georgia, if you take away that 1 run of 83 yds. on a busted play in the 4th qtr, he only had like 63 yds for the whole game before that. Bama's D practices with RB studs day in, day out...they are used to it. LSU will have to air it out and be successful, as stated above not necessarily a great day for that. I took the under 48 a few days ago also, I am a bama fan and not going to touch this spread, gun to the head I would probably take lsu and the points. A teaser with the under and either side will probably make money on this one. LSU used to own us at home, and we owned them down in the bayou...but as stated above it's about evened out under Saban. As always, it should be another great game to watch. RTR...

You are right about Coker not throwing over the middle very often. It was because the coaches didn't trust him throwing over the middle. They didn't trust his decision making early on. I think they have grown to trust him a little more than the start of the season. He has all the talent you could want in a QB but his decision making on the field hasn't been his strong point. He was having problems getting plays in and making reads on the field in a game. That is why Sims played QB last year for Bama. It's the mental part of the game Coker has been lacking in. OJ Howard I think will have to be a big part of the passing game in this one for Bama to have a shot. LSU and Harris need to throw down field early in this game to back the Bama defense off the line. The most important thing is not only for Harris to throw down field but to complete the passes down field. If he can do that it will back the defense up and give the O-line for LSU and Fournette the advantage for a big game for LSU. I hope to see Bo Scarbrough a little more in this game. Kid is a beast. I though it would be the Georgia game he would get more playing time but didn't happen. The suspension and being in the doghouse has hurt his playing time. If he plays more Bama will have a edge with three RB's being fresh all game.

Dude.....I sure hope you're right. Two things really scare me. First, our never ending ability to mismanage the clock. I honestly can't remember how many times in the Miles era we've lost the game or made it closer than it had to be because of poor clock management. Second, Steele is an cheap imitation of Chavis in that he NEVER blitzes on 3rd or 4th down when you need to pressure the QB into making a decision. He plays that shitty soft zone that gives opposing QBs all day to wait for a receiver to come open. We give up 10-25 yards at a time with that garbage. 

Gotta bring it tomorrow!

This is why he's a successful head coach--he marches to a different drum. But...it does backfire. It backfired on the great Pete Carrill when he didn't call Reggie Bushs number. I will not start a "what the hell is Les Miles Thinking?"kind of rant. He is great for a reason.

I'd like to forget history, but if we do that we're doomed to repeat it. 

I'd like to think tomorrow the better team will win. In that department, there's no reason to think we can't beat Bama. They are no better than us, IMO. With that thinking, my fears are still justified.

You seem to know LSU football. What do you think about KS? I think he needs to dial it up more, especially in crucial situations, and force the opposing QB to make quicker decisions. I'd rather that than get dunked and dunked down the field, as has happened in the past with Chavis.

Do you think LSU can score more than 17? The last 5 meetings with Bama they have scored 9, 0, 17, 17, 13. I know the past doesn't matter but it seems to be a constant lately under the current head coaches. If they can't Bama has a great chance to win and a good chance to cover. The Under is the play for me as I said before. If LSU scores 17 or less Bama would have to go over 30 and I don't see that. Big on the under 47.5, Medium on Bama ML, and small amount on Bama to cover. Know most of you in this thread are LSU fans just my thoughts. Even a 27-20 game would go under on the spread and not sure it gets there.
