13923, Obvoiusly my Avatar tells a lot. I don't know who you're refering to that Boise turned down a Home-Home-Home series. In fact the WAC Commisioner tried repeatedly the past few years to get Boise some quality teams to play on an Away only basis. To the credit of these programs, they have nothing to gain playing Boise. If an LSU or some such beat Boise, all would say, "We told you they were nobody". But if they lost, it would be the end of their season as far as the BCS.
No offense, but who wants to play in the Pig East. The geography would kill everyone. For 10 years Boise has tried to get in the PAC 10. Their best fit would still be the PAC 16. The other option being kicked around is the MWC and the remains of the Big 12 being merged into one mega conference. In the meantime, they will just sit under the mountain in the Northern Rockies and play whomever the can find.
Bama -7

The biggest difference between these two teams is that LSU is small and fast, and Alabama is huge and fast.
LSU small? Just because their best defensive player only measures 5'8 and half is not indicative of the entire team. These two teams are mirror images of themselves. Very Stout defenses, bruising RBs, capable and mistake free quarterbacks. I admit that BAMA does have an edge because its at Bryant-Denny Stadium. But LSU has the playmakers necessary to trump home field advantage. Their receiving corps is far better (Randle, Shepard, Beckham, and Peterson). They are way deeper at QB (Lee, Jefferson, Mettenberger #1 JUCO). Tune into ESPN or CBS sports, and I can assure you they are not talking about the defensive backfield of Alabama. LSU has a stable of RBs to stay fresh the entire 60 minutes. This is going to be Trent Richardson's toughest game of his career. Yes, he will break some good (great) runs, but with the game neck and neck coming down to the wire, I would much rather have a fresh Ware, Blue, or Ford.
No DD win for either one here. The coaches are going to play this one close to the vest, and all it takes is one mistake, one turnover, one missed tackle for a team to get an advantage. I like LSU here (I'm a homer I admit). Its going to be a great game. Win or lose both these teams are BCS Bowl Bound if they take care of business.
LSU 13-10
Yes, there is a significant size mismatch in this game and, no, these teams are not mirror images of one another Their offensive styles are very similar, but defenses are very different.
LSU's d-line averages 6' 4.5" and 273 lbs. Bama's d-line averages 6' 2.67" and 305 lbs. LSU's LBers average 6'1" and 218 lbs while Bama's LBers average 6'3" and 253 lbs. Lastly, LSU's defensive backfield averages 5"11.75" and 188 lbs, while Bama's DBs average 6'1.5" and 204.5 lbs.
ESPN and CBS may not be talking about Alabama's defensive backfield, but NFL scouts are. Dre Kirkpatrick is rated as the #1 CB in the nation, Mark Barron is rated the #1 SS in the nation, and Robert Lester is the #1 FS in the nation. LSU has a great secondary, and no one can doubt the playmaking ability of Tyrann Mathieu, but LSU's secondary does not matchup with Alabama's seconday in size, ability or coaching.
Yes, both teams have a powerful running games. The difference is one team's defense is built to stop a power running game, and one is not. Alabama's road-graders on the offensive line will netralize LSU's speed by running right at, through and over them. Alabama will do the same thing to LSU's defense as they did to Florida. LSU's defense simply does not have enough lead in their ass to stop it the vicious ground and pound they will experience in Tuscaloosa.
The outcome of this game will not be in doubt in the 4th quarter.

Its not the WAC commisioners job. Its Boise State's AD's job. He could pick up the phone today and call any ten top flight programs and say, "How about we come play you in 2015 and 2017, all we ask is you come up to Boise in 2016 and play us at home." You are going to sit there and tell us that an Oklahoma (which wants to get its hands on BSU more than anyone after the Ole Statue of Liberty Play), an LSU, an Alabama, or even lesser programs wouldn't jump at that opportunity. LSU, Bama, and all BCS schools have to pay upwards up 500,000 dollars plus travel expenses for the FCS teams to come to their stadium one weekend. They would save money AND get a Marqee matchup which would be on National TV early in the season three years in a row!!!!
And about the headaches of joining the Big East, Hawaii is a lot farther from the mainlain than Boise is to the East Coast, and Hawaii seems to make it work. I know, just like everyone else does, that Boise State will decline the crappiest AQ conference out there so that they can stay in the MWC and go 12-0 or 11-1 every year. I admit I did admire them 3-4 years ago, but come on...you fanboys and the administration of Boise State KNOW what you have to do in order to PLAY for a BCS National Title, and yet here we are year after year after year. Every time the BCS numbers come out so do the world's smallest violins. And it is not a matter of the big boys dodging Boise State, but rather Boise State dodging the big boys. Of the other 119 FBS teams out there, I would consider about 45-50 of them to have reputable and consistent programs. You mean to tell me that your AD called 45-50 of these teams and they all said no? I am not talking about your LSUs or your Bamas, but what about a Clemsons, West Virginias, Stanfords, Oklahoma States, Michigans, or even a Houston?
And lets use your example if LSU played Boise State instead of Oregon the first weekend of the year. Lets say Boise State won (chuckle chuckle). Boise State would have beaten the preseason #4 team in the nation. At best, you would be behind the preseason #1, #2, Oklahoma and Alabama. Then you would fall back into your usual complacency playing substandard football teams for the next 12 weeks. And when the BCS finally did come out you would still be at #5, with Alabama, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and Wisconsin ahead of you because irregardless of your win vs. LSU your lackluster schedule would do your club just like every year. What about LSU you say? They would still be 6-1 (just like Oregon) and in the Top Ten in the BCS controlling their own destiny (just like Oregon). LSU would still have a TOP 5-10 recruiting class like they do every year. By saying that the big boys are afraid to play Boise State because it would ruin their BCS chances is just plain false. If anything it does neither hurt nor help.
After all the whining and complaining year after year, I really want to see Boise State's schedule for the next 4 years. If it doesn't include at least 3 (hopefully 4) teams that are consistent year in and year out on their schedule, than I don't want to hear about poor tough wittle Boise State-"They never get to play for it all!" (Penn State, Tenneesee, Clemson, Arizona State) Any of these will do, but they HAVE to be in the SAME year for you to play for all the marbles. Until we get a playoff (hopefully one day), these are the rules when fighting for a BCS Title. I don't like them, but my team abides by them. LSU didn't have to go play Oregon to kick the year off, we could have played UL-Monroe, UL-Lafayette, or Tulane. We didn't have to go play W. Virginia, we could have just as easily scheduled Kansas or worse yet McNeese State. Because of who we play in the SEC we would have been assured a much better strength of schedule than Boise State. That's the difference between Boise State and the premier programs out there (LSU, BAMA, Wisconsin, Ohio State, Miami, Oklahoma). Our AD is not afraid to mix it up with anyone anywhere anytime. Our AD sees the value in playing someone like Boise State and doesn't factor in a win or a loss because it showcases our program to the entire country.
You should count yourself lucky as it is. Boise State is the media darling of ESPN, always getting to play an inferior team on a Thursday or Friday on National TV no less (Sorry Fresno State talking about you). Without those games, do you even realize that no one would give a rat's ass about Boise State.
Man up Boise State and get your AD to schedule like a madman!
LSU +6 all day long.

Thank you for pointing out the size discrapencies between the two clubs. I agree that while Alabama does have four without a doubt first round Draft Choices in Richardson, Kirkpatrick, Barron, and Lester, I'll have to disagree with you that Alabama with roll right through LSU without any problems. Defensively speaking, I believe Chavis is a much better coordinator than Smart, and will utilize more schemes than AJ McCarron has seen all year. Same can be said for the fronts that will face Lee and Jefferson. With it being at Bryant-Denny stadium, I do give an edge to the home field Tide. However, I do believe that this game will come down to ONE decisive turnover (I highly doubt it will be a running back who fumbles, but rather an interception or qb sack forced fumble). Whoever, is lucky enough to get that rare turnover between two clubs who never turn the ball over will win this game. Miles and Saban are not looking to blow the other team off the scoreboard either. Both coaches are coming from a win and we're in mentality. Very tight ballgame with both teams jockeying for field position throughout the game. (Edge goes to LSU and their crazy dingo punter Wing).
Richardson, I believe will get his 100+ yards easily (look what Tenn did against this D unit). But I believe that those yards will not be when they are needed most, forcing McCarron to beat LSU with his arm (not going to happen). I believe that Ford, Blue, AND Ware will run for over 150-175 yards, giving Lee time to get the ball to Randle, Peterson, or Shepard, OR for Jefferson (who says two qbs don't work?) to make plays with his arm or feet.
If I am wrong, which I could be, I'll be the first to say so. I do not always back LSU (LSU alum 2004, Geaux Tigers!), this week I jumped all over Auburn +22 against my Tigers. That being said, I do believe special things happen for this university every four years (2003-mild mannered Matt Mauck and stout defense, 2007-mild mannered Matt Flynn AND Perriloux ((2 qbs again!))and a stout defense). Now four and eight years later with the National Title Game back in New Orleans, we have pretty much the same characteristics setting us up for a run. Mistake free football coupled with a staunch Defensive with great Strength of Schedule and Top 5 preseason billing. I am sold! I had LSU to win the BCS in July (+1500), and I am not backing off now.
Best of luck jimmy in all the plays you make!
Agree to disagree this time my friend.

I don't know where you get one dimensional from. Lee has approved leaps and bounds, this isn't 2008. We got Jefferson back giving our offensive another dimension. With our defensive we will be in every game this season. No bookie will be taking my bread this week as I took Auburn. Go look at my record this year. What's yours?
As far as LSU not being able to do anything against Boise or Oklahoma (I'll give you Bama, as they might be the only team better than us). BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Oklahome overrated and Boise who? Call me when they get a real schedule. See above.

Not top five status? But Boise State is? Are you high?
What else are they supposed to do?
Hey Imakeplays, WHAT ARE THEY SUPPOSED TO DO TO PROVE THEMSELVES TO YOU?

That's a great field to be studying. Lots of easy money to be made. I wish i would have studied that instead of majoring in business in college. I worked my way up the hard way offshore. We'll just have to disagree on this game. I just see Jarret Lee screwing up with the pressure that Bama is sure to put on him.
13923- small world indeed. I graduated from Acadiana in 1998.
Jimmy- good analysis- I can see that happening as well. I guess i am the only nonbeliever about Jarret Lee on the board. I also think bringing back Jefferson is a bad idea. What does he do when he is in? Either run left or run right with the option to pitch the ball. Very easy to defend that once you see him in the game. I wish my local had this line now because i can see it at -8 and i would love to get it at -7 or under.

I believe Alabama will win this game.
But this is getting absurd. I heard a anaylist say the same thing and I wanted to jump through the radio. Please explain how this is 1 dimensional. And not Top 5 status? C'mon dude, even you looked at that weird when you typed it. This LSU defense is giving up less than 2 TDs a game and is a top 3 defense hands down. Also LSU is finally doing something y'all complained about last year. They're scoring.
Alabama's defense is top 3 also but they are untested. Outside of Arkansas they havent played a team in the top 75 in offense. Ark is ranked in the top 25, then the others 78, 89, 111, 116, 117, 120, soild.
LSU has 1,200 total pass yards. 18 TDs trough the air. JL and R.Randle are both playing well.
LSU has 1,100 total rush yards. 16 TDs coming from 3 capable backs, 2 of which have 6 TDs each.
Tried to stay away.
