Sorry I gave out bad info for last weeks game. I was doing so badly, and my pal was real hot, we disagreed on this game so I went the other way and took Hawaii. 3-0 this year on Hawaii games. "New look" Hawaii offense (installed starting from Fresno game) is kinda impressive, not as many yards, but way fewer turnovers (more of the Florida style than June Jones/Colt Brennan). Funaki's one pick last weeek was in garbage time trying to ice the win, can't really coun't that.
I'm guessing the line will be about 19-20, thats the number that makes it a solid matchup, less that 17 and its an easy boise play, over 21 and you might think Hawaii.

Love fading teams in this spot- undefeated 4 to 5 games into the season and have been covering. This line should be inflated on the Boise St. side. Wait and see!

Just a little perspective from a knowledgable Boise State fan. Hawaii beat Boise last year and took the WAC crown which Boise held for 5 straight years. Boise then played in the Hawaii Bowl and practiced along side Hawaii's players who were getting ready for the Sugar Bowl. The Hawaii players rubbed it in pretty good and Boise's players haven't forgotten. Couple that with a less than stellar performance by Boise's offense at Southern Miss and a chance to impress the pollsters on a Friday Night ESPN game on the blue turf, I can see why the line is so high. Also Boise St if they are up big will sit their starting QB by late 3rd qtr and bring in their back ups so I'm leaning more towards a 1st half cover. If they run up the score it will be for 3 quarters only. Just my 2 cents.

normally i stay away from hawaii games, as they are my favorite college team, seeing as i am from hawaii.. Hawaii is riding a two game winning streak, while Boise is looking to stay undefeated to keep their hopes of a second BCS bowl bid alive.. Hawaii is a terrible road team, and i'm pretty sure Boise won't turn the ball over 6 times like Fresno did... Boise is an extremely well balanced team, able to both run and pass.. Southern Miss moved the ball well against Boise, but their drives were stopped on fourth down several times inside Boise territory.. Hawaii's defense is starting to hit its stride, becoming what many people thought was gonna be one of the best defenses in the WAC. The offense is starting to get comfortable as well, they've cut their turnovers down and have been moving the ball better..That being said, it would be awesome if they won, but i don't think it'll happen. however, i think they'll be able to cover the 25..

i wouldn't say the warriors rubbed it in.. not that i've heard of over here, but perhaps our local papers are a bit biased.. what i did read about however is that everytime the Broncos went from the locker room to the field, they had to pass the WAC Football 2007 champions banner, which should provide them with extra reason to win this game big..
still taking the points though..

Each day the Boise State football team trudged up to the University of Hawai'i for Sheraton Hawai'i Bowl practice last December it did so passing a large banner over the facility that proclaimed its hosts as "Western Athletic Conference Champions."
Once, the Broncos loosened up on an adjacent field as UH was ending its practice with a spirited — and pointed — chant of "WAC Champs!"
During their week-long stay here, the Broncos said they tired of passing stores selling and passersby wearing "WAC Champion" T-shirts emblazoned with UH's logo.
So you can understand why Boise State, which politely bit its lip 10 months ago counting the time until they met again, might be looking forward to Friday's nationally televised reacquaintance with the Warriors at Bronco Stadium.
All Broncos coach Chris Petersen would say about it last year was, "it was interesting watching those guys."
Though when a reporter asked him if he'd be interested in a rematch of their 39-27 title game loss to UH, Petersen stiffly replied: "Next year."
Well, "next year" is here and after a remarkable five-year reign of WAC titles that was broken by UH, be assured the Broncos have been looking forward to a shot at reclaiming their prize. Somewhere in Boise, you've got to believe, exists a calendar with the days counted down.

You must not be reading the most recent articles from your own Hawaii newspapers.

Even after wins over Fresno and LaTech, I am still not sold on our offense. I would feel much better with Graunke at QB but that doesn't look like it will happen. Funaki (present QB) might not be durable with all the running he does.
The coaches have installed a very conservative offensive scheme, moving away from the traditional "run and shoot", with a moving pocket and a green light for the QB to run at will. I think you will see Pilaris in the backfield and at slot. I believe he has the best vision of all the backs. Although Coach McMackin says not, I see a lot more run-oriented scheme now. If nothing else, that should help UH cover, as the clock will be running and turnovers will be minimal, compared to last years pass-happy offense.
The coaches and players were embarrassed at home by the 5 turnover abortion of the San Jose State game. After public booes on the poor performance of the team, right down to the defense appearing to stand around on field goals and extra point kicks, it looked like a different team the last two games. With a professed renewed commitment and intensity on defense and the remake of their offensive philosophy, it was glaringly evident in the turnover/takeaway ratio in the last two contests (which included a blocked field goal attempt). With a new-found confidence, expect more of the same this Friday.
Boise State is a formidable scoring machine and opposing teams have not fared well on the blue carpet. I don't see UH winning this one (although sh#t happens) but UH does have a very solid defense which should help keep them in the game, so to speak. I really like UH getting 24+ points or more, which is more a product of the public's preference rather than the true difference in the two teams' ability.

I predicted the line to be about 20....Some places are now as high as 26! I won't lay 26...but my early lean is to take the points.
New look Hawaii offense is not as explosive as last years O, but its better suited for the current QB. (Funaki ran an option based system at Kahuku). As everyone knows last years system was tailored to Colt's strengths (quick release/and accuracy). The current version has been tweaked to Funaki's strengths (option read/ and running) Hawaii's early failures are due to having the wrong personnel for the offense (not one of those guys are Colt) and the better competition.
Defense is improving due to the fact that Offense is holding ball longer (last 2 games more run plays than pass plays!) and less turnovers.
Boise is a formidable foe, and will be firing on all cylinders to revenge last years loss, and the fact that a win here will all but lock up at least a share of the title.
Initial lean-Boise to win, Hawaii to cover 35-14

takin hawaii and the points even though they always get smoked at boise on the smurf turf. mcmacklins defense will probably keep hawaii in the game also a young quarterback for boise who hasnt played against hawaii. i see maybe one or two turnovers
