NC STATE HAS THE 93rd pass defense playing in a conference of bad passing teams....nc state could easily end up looking like louisville boys.....

the more i  think about this game, rutgers is not going to have a problem scoring today.  teel has been locked in lately, and the 95th ranked pass defense is not going to stop him.  ncstate should be able to put up 21-28 pts themselves.  the weather is 60 degress with no wind, so im now going high (hope my slow day at work doesnt come back to haunt me :)

What about NCST won at NC 41-10 and Rutgers lost to NC at home 12-44??? Come on people, if you're gonna look at common opponents, please look at all of them...not just to the ones that favors your picks...

But based on those common opponents, the games all went over...so just go with the over!

The only Big East team that NC St play this season was against SFL they lost 10-41 by 31 pts, that is the only correlation I can take from this match up..

NC State and The Under.  6.5 is a lot in what looks like an evenly matched bowl game.  Teams will start slow (i hope!) and hang on for the under.

I want to add that common opponents mean nothing...historical match ups mean nothing...a coach vs a team mean very little especially when he coached against them years ago. This game is about the 2008 Rutgers team and the 2008 NC State team.
 
With that said, I am on the fence here. Both teams have played well down the stretch and got big wins when they needed them. I am leaning towards NC State here...they are 9-2 as a dog and that's hard for me to bet against. I was leaning Rutgers last week but I think I was sipping the Jersey water...but that might be polluted. I'm still having a hard time pulling the trigger with on this game however.

Hey Fpronk if you don't use common opponents to cap game then how do you compare or predict what is going to be the outcome of the game? People often compare strenght of schedule and conferences to cap game. If not what do you use?

What's up Agent! Thanks for not giving me any crap after that stupid cowboys pick yesterday......I'm going to blame it on the blue beer!! LOL! I'm going with the wolfpack and the under here. I just got the total at 57...Maybe the wollfpacks D keeps it low like w/ WKFRST 21-17 & NC 41-10. Then we have the Miami game 38-20??? Then the rust factor? BOL_ALL

Well, to be honest I look at SOS, both DEF and OFF stats, and I look to see where the money is going. I do look at common oppenents but as in all sports this is about individual match ups.I try not to drink the Kool Aid if at all possible. If someone beats a Team A by 30 and Team B loses to the same team by 20...does this mean team A will win by 50? No, and I think will all know that. NC State had several injuries early in the year and came out of the gates late. The ACC is probably very much underrated this year.

I also look to see how well a team plays ATS. NC State has played extremely all year as an under dog. Their DEF has been impressive as of late and they don't turn the ball over a lot. Bowl games are the final game for everyone and teams tend to play more conservative.

ACC is 4-0 ATS so far this bowl season with 3-1 going for the over (although I had the Noles teased with the under which still hit).  The ACC has been very underrated throughout this season.  Lots of good teams but no great teams, but all we heard from the talking heads is how down the ACC is.  NCST has SOS of 3 according to Sagarin; while Rutgers is at 67.  Gonna go with NCST, hoping to get +7.5 by gametime, also small play with the under 56.5.  8-2 ATS on picking sides so far (lost on Troy & CMU, and forgot to bet last night's game), lets go make that   GLA!!!
