Thanks Fpronk.   Good Luck to you tonight.  I see myself hoping on the Ball St. line, but I may stay away from the Total.  Northern Illinois has the best defense in the conference so I don't see this as a shootout, but I maybe wrong.

Wanted to take the over on this one but not too certain on how much NIU will open up the playbook with a 3rd string qb behind center in a crucial game like this. NIU is also a running team which led me to think that in order to keep this one within reach NIU will keep it on the ground more to keep the clock running and to avoid costly mistakes in the air. It's hard to fall behind against an offense like Ball St and expect to make a comeback with your strongest point on offense is the running game.
 
I would hate to see Nate Davis be impatient in this one against the 9th ranked scoring defense in the nation. If Davis can stay patient and set up his passing game with a decent back in McQuale Lewis Ball St should pull out the SU victory and ats.

Under 37.5 is the play tonight.  I have seen a lot of action on the over.  This will go way under.   Good def against good off goes under.

Actually, I dont call that an upset either. I think if a team is more than a 10 point dog and is on the road...that is an upset. Being a home dog less than a TD is not an upset. Its a good win...and they were actually lucky to pull it out. Vegas had this line pretty close.

Fpronk, youre a very respectable capper, and i respect your opinion. But whenever the #1 team in the country, that is undefeated, favored by 6 on the opening line on the road, has the best QB in the nation, and gets beat, thats what I call an upset. We all have our opinions

I still see the Longhorns in the Title game at the end of the year. Texas vs Alabama. I see Tech and Penn getting beat twice by the end of the year.

App State rolling into Michigan last year and beating them is a UPSET. Two tops 10 teams playing one another and one losing is not an upset.
 
Who said anything about the best QB in the nation? Now that there is your opinion. Now you're throwing in variables that are subjective.

Not to get off track but FPRONK is right. The line closed at -3. A line with the home team (also undefeated) getting only a field goal is hardly an upset. Also, with the line dropping like that obviously a lot of people had Tech. Now, as for tonight, I already have N.Ill getting 16.5 to close out a tease. I may tease down Ball St. and try to land in the middle. Any thoughts?

I think this will be a tough fought game but worry that Ball State covers with a late score.  I'll take my chances on a teaser...

Ball state has a bad habit of starting slow. Kinda like LSU. Might be just a first halfer tonight. NIU first half. GL all

emotional night for ball state, with former star receiver love on field as honorary captain for coin flip... the cardinals have started off slowly the last couple of weeks, so  willing to take the heavy impost with niu squad that plays solid defense, look for niu to try to shorted the game with it,s solid running game , also look for no. ill to go into there wild husky formation tonight, plus freshman qb chandler harnish has emerged as a dangerous playmaker, look for him to move the chains with his feet a lot, ball state may escape , but not without a fight --  ball state-27-22    ...................

Feel kinda shaky about this one. Was going to take NIU 1st half due to Ball St normally not covering in the 1st half then switching over to Ball St final but don't feel like doing that.

The line moved 3 pts because the money was on TT the line was wrong from the get go but Vegas knows there are a lot of people who think like you

alright enough said about who knows exactly what an upset is...
 
lets get to tonights game. 
 
NIU(5-3) vs BSU(8-0)... I really think 9.5 is a lot, BUT, the public's picks has gone from 30% to about 40% on NIU now, so if that line doesnt move much from now til game time... I gotta go with Ball State.  My gut says NIU, but my head says BSU...mainly because the public is quite often WRONG!
 
For the over under, this is a tricky one.  What offense is NIU bringing to the game?  High speed run to set up the pass, or slow speed run the whole game and use that time management they do so well.  What defense are these two teams bringing tonight?  Will Ball State be able to stop the running game? Will Northern be able to stop Ball State's high powered passing attack?
 
Gut says defense... head says OFFENSE.
