I really want to take SMU in this game, but these teams seem to be going in different directions. SMU lost their last 6 ATS, while Pitt has covered their last 5. Pitt has been up and down all year. Hard to tell which team will show up.

yes, we'll see, prick...instead of worrying about the selections of another anonymous amateur handicapper, you should make your selection on the merits...
tell me why you like smu...is jones going to pull out his best holgerson and bitch slap pitt, because he's pissed that Zona st picked Graham over him? Superior Athletes for SMU over Pitt? Why SMU?

I see alot of value taking smu moneyline here. June jones with a month to prepare his offense vs. random pittsburgh coach. Tino sunseri is a terrible qb so i'm going with the better qb in what i think is a game that should be a pick em. Neither of these teams are great, value pick from me.
Smu's real problem has been turnover. If they don't turn the ball over, there's no reason they can't beat this average pittsburgh team.

good point, but Pitt's D is the best D that SMU will face all season, coach or no coach, and that includes TCU who sucked on D for most of the season...
It hurt SMU to lose Line...I think Pitt has a chip on its shoulders, a different chip than the shame demonstrated by Penn St in the Ticketcity Bowl, where they did not give a half a dam. I was there.
JJ is a sharp guy and he will have his guys ready to play. But, I think Pitt is still very motivated to send the current coaches who stayed out with a W and a big Fuck You to Fraud Graham...

in addition, I believe Pitt was picked by Steele to win the Big East. They have the athletes. They did lose Ray Graham, the outstanding RB, but I think they can replace him. Pitt's QB was pretty good last year. I think he will end the season on a high note against a marginal SMU pass D...
Pitt -3

That's when I take the points..I garduated from Pitt in '76, been real close to this program for decades..the mental makeup of this team and their ability to perform in big games is lacking highly..add in the coaching drama, and as usual the hunger factor.I think the line movement to a degree validates what I am saying. My suggestion - take the points or go U.

Geez - graduated..there's that Pitt education. Man do we miss the glory days of being elite. Pitt / Penn St. was THE game on the east coast from about '72-'83 when Marino and Blackledge graduated. As most know PA and NJ are high school football hotbeds. Anybody worth their salt who wanted to play pro ball went to Pitt or Penn St. Pitt was a force under Majors and Sherril and Penn St. - back then before all the "JoPa" nonsense - when he was Paterno, and he was on top of his game, and before what digressed into a really sad cult-like environment in State College - Penn St. was proud and great. Cappelletti, Franco, Lydell Mitchell, Jack Ham, Matt Millen, Bruce Clark, Curt Warner, on and on. I hate PSU but like Dalls pre-Jerry - back then you were forced to respect them, now they are a punchline (like Dallas). Syracuse sucked (what has changed - why do they even have a football program?), Miami and WVU were barely competitive at the D1 level until the early-'80's, Fla St was just getting started with Bobby Bowden in the late-'70's, VA Tech was just getting started as a program. These were the teams. I am all for prgress and increased competititon. I am not for bad decisions and lack of focus. Now watch Pitt win by 17...is SMU that bad? Anyone else remember when Pitt played SMU in '83, teh Cotton Bowl maybe? I am guessing based on the ampunt of "LOL's" that the average age on this board is maybe 25 at most. Eric Dickerson and Craig James, what a backfield. I think SMU won 9-3.
