For the life of me I will never figure out why ppl would question the effort the players will put out or even their motivation. All athletes play to win the game. It doesn't matter if coach is leaving, qb is leaving..... When these guys walk out onto the field it is to do one thing and that is ALL THAT IS ON THEIR MIND! Nothing else, PERIOD!!! Therefore, come gametime, there are no distractions on either side.
And as for Randyand shirl, you are correct about all the smacktalk. It is nonsense and annoying. However, you must realize that there are ppl on here that are from the west coast and are big Pac 10 fans and when you come out "talking trash" about their conference, you may ruffle some feathers. You can get your point across without insulting a team or conference. Lastly, as you can see, your statements apply to Va Tech and the acc as well. Personally, I could care less. I think the Pac 10 is the better conference and Stanford is the better team.

LOL... First of all OU did put forth a lot of effort. secondly boise was a good team and BEAT them. third, OU loses bcs games all the freakin time! how does OU relate to this? also, michigan has the worst defense in the nation and quite frankly is a bad team, perhaps that had to do with them getting slaughtered like almost everyone predicted?
so the stanford players dunno if harbaugh is gone or not... why in the world would the players who worked their ass off to get to the biggest game in stanford history tell themselves "well harbaugh may not come back so i don't care about this game?" would be understandable for a lower bowl, but not one so nationally hyped.

AGREED! The one exception I would say this bowl season was the nebraska/washington game. nebraska had zero motivation to prepare for a team they already destroyed. i believe it was SHARP who mentioned the stat that the team who beats their bowl opponent in the regular season is 0-3.. now 0-4 when playing them in the bowl.
also, not a pac-10 fan at all, just trying to put the facts into perspective. GL tonight

When I go to this site I'm looking for some handicapping insight... not a bunch of senseless bullshit. We all love sports and we all wanna make money... let's share handicapping info and leave it that... shall we?

I like Stanford, because the biggest star is on their side, and bowls love to showcase talent. If VT has blazing speed, and stymies that offense, then I'll reconsider at the half, but in the meantime, a great QB can put up the points. I was in at 3.5 and bought the hook.

Standford -3.5 as I really like the fact of the 3 shut outs during their season. Regardless of who they played (to a certain degree of reason), to me, that spells an abilty to do it again.
