last yr i started this thread and it produced 3 names.. carlos gonzalez, shaun marcum, and jason heyward.. the question is basically who are your sleepers, except in this case i want anybody that is going a round or more later than you could ever let them go. hence, they would be on everyone of your fantasy teams
so if you think car-go is the best player in fantasy, or even the #1 OF he meets the criteria. or if you think theres a shortstop ex. jason bartlett that you can get really late, so it saves you from having to fill that position earlier he also fits, because your strategy revolves around him being on your team.

i dont really have anybody yet... i like casey mcgehee as long as hes goin as the 12th 3b, but i dont see him really going too late. surprisingly b. posey is actually going where i think he should be going. i wouldve bet that if i had 100 teams i would never have posey before i saw the rankings.
i like brian matusz and jordan zimmerman where ive seen them ranked. need to back them up with a cahill type though if you draft one as a starter.
definately havent found my carlos gonzalez yet.

Pagan will outperform his draft position easy this year. IMO, he is the second best all around baseball player on that Mets team, next to David Wright. Last year he served as the catalyst for that offense, in place of Reyes. This year with Reyes back, Pagan could be hitting out of the 2 hole, and should have plenty of opportunities to knock in Reyes, steal bags, and score runs. While Pagan is not a home run threat, he will hit a few out over the course of the season. Pagan will fill up the stat sheet, and can be drafted in the middle to late rounds. Some not so savvy owners may pass on Pagan, but he will significantly out play his ADP this year. He is not someone I am going to reach for in the 7th or 8th round. But if he is still hanging around in the 9th or 10th, he presents great value IMO.

i could definately see swiping him up right before a bunch of carlos lees and bobby abreaus come off the board... but you may be able to get him after... i like it.

love me some hellboy... i just didnt mention him because hes ranked so much higher than matusz and zimmerman, but ill definately be targeting him for my 4th/5th SP spot.

whoa, im looking at a 44 ranking in yahoo for hellickson.. who the hell is taking nolasco 3 rounds before him? if he stays where hes at hellboy will be on every team i own. with top 15-25 potential hes way undervalued.

Nolasco's numbers last year were a bit inflated. He suffered some of the worst luck ever for a pitcher in 1 year. Nolasco is a classic buy low candidate after a miserable season last year.
I would argue that Hellickson is over valued, and Nolasco is under valued. Hellickson has not proven himself over an entire season. He pitches in AL East as well. I would much rather take the proven veteran over the unproven rookie. Just my 2 cents.

complete opposite sides on nolasco... no way id draft nolasco as a starter... he wont be on any of my teams unless i pick him up from free agency.
i consider him with edinson volquez, ervin santana, scott baker, matt garza, and james shields... glimses of brilliance, but id rather play against them than with them.
i take shots on these guys, but ill grab one in the 20th and another in the 23rd. im not gettin one in the 12th.

josereyes- i see by your other thread that its more hellickson hate than nolasco love... cant really argue with the comments there. some people love the upside, some hate the frustration. i think rookie pitchers are valuable if drafted at the right time. i had b. matusz and mat latos in a league last yr. when the time came i dropped em both, and never regretted drafting them. they were late picks, and covered up with veterans. however when it works, like when i got latos back (shoo) he became my ace... my 7th starter was suddenly my ace... you cant beat that.

I am with ya there. I drafted Matusz last year, and ended up dropping him. Although I did grab Latos early in the season. I also think Latos is being drafted too high as well. He has to show me that he can do it again, before I draft him in the 6th round. That is just my perception though. I think Hellickson is being drafted too high as well. There are tons of established starters out there, that I would draft before him. Again, this is only my perception. I also try to grab an elite SP early, and then piece together the rest of my rotation with what perceive as good value. I value K's and WHIP the most.

Finding value in the middle to late rounds is huge. Finding guys that are over and under valued. Nolasco is not as bad as last years number indicate. Last year he was being drafted as high as the 4th and 5th round. This year, no one will touch him. If he is available in the 9th or 10th this year, I see that as good value. Just the opposite with Latos and Hellickson. I will let everyone else grab these guys early, while I fill in the rest of my needs. Just my 2 cents.

jsab- vasquez-- good call, if he gets even close to the braves javy, he ll be a steal late. i like it.
josereyes- im with ya on 2nd yr star pitchers.. latos wont sniff one of my rosters. hell he ll probably be gone before any pitcher does. ill shoot for a verlander type as my ace... lower 2nd tier guy., then get my next 2 right after that. i like rookie pitchers because im drafting them over mid grade catchers and future free agent shortstops. id never use a top 11-12 pick on one...
we could talk about how to draft a rotation for days.. i always leave mine incomplete on draft day and let it work itself out. thats probably why i love star potential. you sound like you want an opening day rotation that could be there for a while. last yr i landed liriano, marcum, and latos... the yr before grienke was a little bit of a surprise for me, had king felix too.. the yr before was the lincecum yr. but i take alot of chances and pass on alot of hiroki kurodas. and draft alot more brian matusz' but i really believe in my way. i feel like theyre only over rated if youre confused about what your expectations should be. if jordan zimmerman has a 9.99 era and avgs 3 inn/start, then breaks his elbow again, i wont flinch. hes a 19th rounder. but if hes lights out my 8th/9th/11th/19th/FA rotation is gonna be pretty scary. ^ rounds

Hitters- Not a lot of hitters jump out at me at potential late round bargains. I do like ryan raburn as a late round pick... Some guys I can see being bargains would be colby rasmus(hopefully he starts), drew stubbs, and mitch moreland
Pitchers- I like max scherzer a lot... I know he's more of a middle round guy this year, but I can see him taking a big step forward this year. Other later round pitchers I'll have on my radar would be Jhoulys chacin, anibal sanchez, madison bumgarner, homer bailey, guthrie, and james mcdonald

CJ wilson is another guy I'm surprised is dropping so far in drafts(50th on espn's live draft results)
derek holland is a guy to keep an eye on also if he win a rotation spot... he definitely has above average stuff and looked pretty good in the postseason... and to a lesser extent kyle drabek and carlos carrasco if you are in a deeper league

Damn wish i could list my guys but i know the bums on here in my league would snatch em up on me and laugh in my face .
I see alot of love for Hellickson. DO NOT buy into it this year. For the future yes but not now. We have seen this before with the Rays.
1. David Price. 3 years ago during the World Series run he is brought up and dominates the league in a short amount of time. The next season he is up for pretty much the whole year and sucks. In his 3rd complete season DOMINANT.
2. Wade Davis. 2 years ago brought up for a short amount of time and pitches great. The next season which was last year he sucked. 3rd year is this year. I think Davis is going to be very nice this year.
3. Jeremy Hellickson. Last year comes up for a short amount of time and dominates. This year going to be his first full season in the bigs in his 2nd year. Just like Price and Davis i expect him to really struggle this year but be very good from next year on out. Top that off with the fact he pitches in the AL East. I understand grabbing him in a keeper league but not a one season league. His ADP is 39 for starting pitchers. Thats ahead of Tim Hudson, Jonathan Sanchez, Ricky Nolasco, Gio Gonzalez, Hiroki Kuroda, Ted Lilly, Jamie Garcia. ALL guys i would take ahead of him.
