Buddy of mine is doing them. Just saw it today. Straight bar over abdomen, plates on either side with bar cushion. Great idea, works the gluts hard as well as the core but personally wouldn't imagine this new (like all of the others), exercise in any circle of competitive b builders working towars competitive shape.
I'm sure it's an excellent movement for certain people. Watched closely. Watched the man do 8-10 sets and continue with more glute movements beyond that. His early complaint was muscle loss...wonder why after 25 sets?
Give him 10 years.

....my point is no, this not a movement that you should be doing simply to avoid quality squats, tight leg press, stair running etc.
These guys will sell anything to make working out exotic and easier. ..it's still pure raw iron and hell for the serious ones. Fitness industry is comedic.
