an egg isn&#x27;t high in fat, it&#x27;s high in cholesterol. 4 to 5 grams of fat per egg ( roughly 6% of your daily value)200 mg or so in cholesterol so about 70% of daily value

I would not be eating eggs, at least the yolk, after a workout. Post-workout nutrition is vital to maximizing gains. Are you familiar with the "window of opportunity"?

Yes it does. You can Google the nutritional value of and egg vs. just the egg white. Roughly half the protein is in the yolk, however pretty much all of the fat and cholesterol is in the yolk as well., but there is also a lot of good nutrients in the yolk.

Oh yeah Egg whites and a spinach ommelette might be one of the greates post workout meals you can have.  Also eggs are high in good fats that are actually pretty good after a workout.

Sorry for my ignorance.  Didn&#x27;t realize that eggs weren&#x27;t that high in fat.  I just grew up always eating lots of egg whites and assumed the yolk was fattening.

Good for you.  They supply all of the essential amino acids and several other vitamins and minerals.  Always eat the yolk it is the most nutritious part.  Do not worry about the cholesterol.  The cholesterol in eggs will raise your HDL (High Density Lipoprotein)  and lower your VLDL ( Very Low Density Lipoprotein) which helps prevent heart disease.  They also provide a good feeling of satiation which is good for avoiding snacking cravings.

BTW cholesterol isnt as important as everyone thinks. Doctors put an emphasis on it because it's an easy sell for prescriptions. We NEED cholesterol to manufacture hormones. The problem is homocystine...a protein by product that causes inflammation in the arteries. A simple dose of folic acid and b6 will alleviate the problem but that's too simple of a solution for doctors to tell you.

So you eat 21 eggs per week? I believe that is to many.Anyway get your cholesterol checked, if you have to high LDL it might be spell trouble for you to eat that many eggs.Also check if you are diabetic or in the dangerzone? Or if any family members have it... then eating all those eggs will also be very damaging.No matter what if i was you and everything checked out ok, i would eat maybe one a day max. 21 eggs per week is to many.

Also a problem with eating 21 eggs per week is, that you get a lot of fat into your system by doing that, especially if the rest of your eating is "normal" with meats and such.

Pay close attention because you just might learn something. Eggs contain fat. Fat takes a while to digest. After a workout your body is in a catabolic state. See, when you are subject to stress, your body secretes cortisol. Cortisol has a negative impact on muscle growth/repair. The best way to suppress cortisol is through an insulin spike. The best way to get this insulin spike is by consuming a simple carbohydrate. Simple carbohydrates coupled with a fast digesting protein, such as whey protein powder are what you want to consume post workout. The purpose of consuming a fast digesting protein and a simple carb is so that you get the nutrients to your muscles fast and suppress cortisol as fast as possible. When I say post workout I don&#x27;t mean 2 hours later, I mean immediately. You just got fucking ridiculously owned in this thread. Yo really have no goddamn clue about anything when it comes to weight training or nutrition. So please don&#x27;t respond to the stuff that I say or if you do read the entire post and then re read it again. I never said do not consume protein. I said do not consume the egg yolk.
