Which one do you use? Post up shop locals that require their clients to buy chips first before they play, but can cash out anytime they want. Or credit shop locals that doesn't require any deposits, but settle the following week.
I don't really get how the credit shop local books run their business. Usually they don't have more liquid cash than the post up shop locals, so what if I hit a $10,000 parlay on them and they have a few stiffs that run away, will those local books stiff me? And what if I don't pay them, will they come after me?
Looks like these problems won't ever happen with a post up local because it's just like a casino. I buy chips first before I play. So I know I won't have the problem of betting with money I don't have.

I have never even heard of a local that made you put money up first. I'm on my way to hopefully meet my new local now. I'm pretty sure he does credit.
It's pretty much the same as a casino, you buy chips first before you play. And you can cash out anytime you want and receive the cash within 24 hours. It's sure better than settling up the following week while playing with a make believe bankroll. I rather play safe and use a physical bankroll.

very rare for locals to require a post up. They aren't taking action from people they don't know. Its not like the idiots on here that claim to be a bookie and are just looking for freeroll someone

Pretty sure even the credit local bookies would make a client buy chips first if that client slow payed them in the past.
Don't think it's rare, it's pretty common. Again, it's like going to a casino, you buy chips first before you play. And you can cash out whenever you like.

If u slowpayed or stiffed u wldn't be asked back at my local shop. Its one of the good things about having a local is being able to bet right now and not have to go to Western Union and pay to send money to a offshore book. I wld never play with a local that made me post up. I play with mine and I pay or be paid every Tuesday. Has worked for 10 years and I am sure it was worked for others as well

meh.... that's like saying you'll never play at a casino because all casinos requires you to buy chips first.
I rather play with a real physical bankroll and not some make believe bankroll. I like to cash out whenever I feel like it and not have to stick to a mandatory meet up day with a local bookie. I rather meet my bookie whenever I need to buy more chips or cash out. It's easier that way.

My local is very solid. I have a 10k line of credit with him, and we settle on the dime. If i'm up or down $999 at close of business sunday, it carries over. My guy has a great website, fairly good limits and very deep pockets. I'm likeing him more and more now that offshore is getting more difficult by the day.

Pretty sure my local has an even more deep pocket than your local because your local runs a credit shop. Post up shop local books have more liquid cash. Couple months ago I won $9,000 in 3 days, I called my local book and ask to withdraw $8,000. He came to my house the very next day and handed me $8,000 in cash. Now THAT'S SOLID!

I have both local and a local agent that has offshore. I have a credit line at both.New players have to put a deposit as it should be.I do not use the local much, most of my buddies prefer the offshore beacuse of the 24/7. Both pay weekly amd 18 years no problems. You need every edge you can get today.

I have 3 local books I use for the last 16 years and I have never had to post up beforehand. That is just not how "locals" work. Y would u send someone money if u don't owe them any? And of course they are more liquid because they require u to send them cash. I am sure they have a much smaller client base however. I have a pretty decent credit line extended to me by all 3 and the only transactions are getting paid if I win and paying if I lose. Seems like u are getting the shaft by having to front money u havent even bet yet. We can see that offshore books take money upfront and may never send it back due to piss poor US government regulations and I can see the same happening if your "local" decides to stiff u!

Its not paying first, its like a casino cause i'm buying chips first before i play. How is that being shafted? Only stiffs will think like that and its like saying you're not going to buy chips first before you play. I rather play with a real bankroll, not a make believe bankroll. There are plenty of locals that are post up shops.
Besides, i dont like mandatory meet up days with my bookie. I like to cash out any days of the week and receive the cash the next day. And i also dont believe in playing with a make believe bankroll. I use a real physical bankroll. The only time i meet my bookie is when i want to cash out or buy chips. Its easier that way.
And my local.book actually have plenty of clients and a lot of sub-agents. He cant stiff because every client of his knows where he lives.

If I were going shopping at Macy's but wasn't sure I wanted to buy anything why would I give them $100 when I walk in the door only to have it refunded if I do not make a purchase? Post up shops just want your money..plain and simple. I would not trust anyone who works that way.s But if u feel comfortable that way then go for it. It is just not very normal for a local bookie to do that is my point so it seems odd to me.

You're not making sense at all. You don't win money at Macy's. Macy's is not a casino. You don't buy chips at Macy's. You buy chips at a casino. Hahahaha!
IMHO, you sure sound like a shot taking stiff.

And honestly, post up shop local and post up shop offshore pretty much works the same. Except post up shop local is more secure, reliable, and trustworthy because I know where the bookie lives. Too many offshore books are getting shut down left and right.
And of course I can cash out and receive the cash right away. No need to wait in the mail for some silly check. I also like the reduced juice my local offers on his site.
There's actually a lot of local books that does post up. Or at least start new customers out with post up until they know if that person is trustworthy or not when they lose.
Now a days when offshore books are getting shut down left and right, xxxoddsmakerxxx is probably worried all the locals will switch to post up shops. Since he said he'll never play with a local post up shop, he'll have no choice but to use offshore. You're going to be buying chips either way, so obviously buying chips with a post up shop is better than buying chips with an offshore. At least you will know where the local bookie lives and work at. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out.

I have set people up with my local or agent and they make there mind up on the limit or if they must put up a deposit. It all depends who the player is,some 19 year old kid living at home is more than likely going to have put up.Most guys that what credit it is for a reason.Just look at the credit card defauls in the country.

Can't discriminate on age. There are a lot of losers in their 30's, 40's, 50's, 60's, 70's, that are shot taking stiffs. There's a lot of them on here too.
