Am I a hypocrite for this....

I have two great daughters
 
But have a lot of house rules. One of my big ones is no cursing in the house. For every curse word they use they have to write one page of the dictionary with definitions.
 
But I will allow my 15 yr old to have a beer at home (nowhere else) I have always felt "curiosity killed the cat" If I take away the curiosity about drinking hopefully it wont become an issue as they get older. And most of the time if I offer her a drink she says no.
 
Anyways someone called me a hypocrite  for allowing my daughter to have a drink but not letting her curse. Do you think I am.
 
Looking for honest opinions I have asked my wife but she has my side all the time.

i would not let my daughter drink at the age of 15

I wouldnt be advertising that you condone and allow underage children to consume beer at home.

"curiousity killed the cat" means letting her TASTE it once, not drink it whenever or EVER at that age.

She has plenty of years ahead to become a boozer, I would immediately stop allowing drinking.

You're not a hypocrite, just an idiot and a criminal.  Just wait until she tells her friends about the beers, or her teachers, etc....when you have to explain all this to child services they are not going to worry about whether or not you let your daughter curse.

Really?  Wow, you sound like a super cool dad.  I'm sure your daughters don't resent being treated like 7 years old even though they are apparently teenagers.  Big points right there buddy.  Again you sound like a super cool father   I bet your daughters really like you.

Saddlewood, i grew up in a loving family where my mom was able to stay home and raise us kids as a homemaker.  My parents didn't actually buy us the booze as kids, but they were of the thought that they'd rather us do it under their roof then be out and about getting in trouble and in danger,,,,

As far as the cursing, i have a potty mouth at times myself, but always tell girlfriends and my sisters that i think it's very unladylike for them to be vulgar,,,,,males and females are different, and it doesn't bother me to hear a guy curse like a sailor but a female


respect to you saddlewood for putting the parenting back in parenting , it's your house, your rules, nice to have your wife in your corner/on your team like that,,,,,and your daughters will thank you later for being a good dad

After writing a page of the dictionary, I could use a drink myself


Make sure they don't ever get to the "H" section of the dictionary. If they get to the word hypocrite and see your picture, you're gonna have some explaining to do!

A girl should not go near alcohol at 15.  This is a crime.  The authorities have been notified.

Got no problem with it.  And contrary to popular belief, in most states it is not illegal.
