Prosecuter requested a full 10 or 20 year vehicular manslaughter sentence. There is 2 more charges that he was guilty of that he wasn't sentenced for yet..But like someone posted earlier just imagine if one of the 6 killed or maimed was your relative, you would be EXTREMELY angry at this punk and the punishment he received. Part of his sentence was no contact with parents for either one or two years(good idea , ya' think), don't recall specifically and has to go into treatment center for that long too.

dsn, the fact that he is a minor definitely matters. i'm not sure how they do things in texas but in most states, if you are a minor and charged as a minor, they can only do so much to you. usually, the court loses jurisdiction at age 18 or so. so, if you commit a serious crime at 16 and you are charged as a minor, the court really only has you for 2 years.
however, in most states, the prosecutor has the option to charge a minor as an adult (once he reaches a certain age, certainly mid teens would apply). if the prosecutor decides to charge the kid as an adult, then the kid can get whatever an adult would get for that charge. again, it depends on the state but DUI manslaughter would usually come with a range of 0 to 15 to 30 or so.
as for the judge giving this kid a harsh sentence on these two remaining charges, i wouldn't expect that, nor should it happen. everyone, including the judge, knew these charges were outstanding when she ordered the original sentence and the original sentence was for the most serious charges. if the judge now lit the kid up on these two more minor charges, that are not new charges, it would so obviously be a reaction to the media frenzy. first, i would assume the sentence gets reversed on appeal because you can't base your sentence off a pissed off public or media attention. second, it sets a really bad precedent when judges adjust sentences because of a media firestorm, especially when our media is so painfully incompetent.
it's kind of like the discussion we had before on the cops arresting that guy for being in the car with the white girl. our system has flaws and mistakes are made but sometimes you just have to let it go and move on. i think this will be one of those times.

Is there a traffic collision map I wouldn't mind seeing the position of the parked vehicles and the path of the defendants vehicles. This whole thing seeks a little fishy why were there six people in such a dangerous place at once.
