Do Something Nice For Someone Today

Off the cuff, I don't think the priest was out of bounds by leaving you an option to contribute to the parish. He did as you asked without payment. Just an option to contribute if you choose. 

Have you ever gone to a cool oceanside bar/restaurant with live entertainment? You pay good money for the food and drinks and even though you know the musician(s) are getting paid, they always have a tipping station at the stage. You can give more or give nothing. Your choice.

Getty...it took me totally by surprise especially because I gave the name of the lady making the request.

She's in her late 80's and is there for the bake sales, old book sales, the Christmas nick knack sales and she knits comforters for the homeless.

I thought and still feel the Monsignor should not try to hit her up for a few bucks. She's donated plenty to the church. 

Our parents are gone. Just have one aunt left. It sounds like you all cherish the time you have together.

My wife made the pool guy a cheeseburger & I had a Heineken with him for lunch.

We've never done anything like that for him & he was really surprised.

What have you degenerates done today?

People who lost their jobs and rental apartments are filling up the animal shelters with pets they can no longer keep.

How about going to the animal shelter with a big bag of dog food and a bag of litter for the cats?

Don't be so lazy. Do something for our best friends!

This morning the boss and I got 5 dozen donuts and 3 boxes of Dunkin Donut coffee & headed to our local hospital for the daily shift change. We were met by 2 security guard who wouldn't allow us on the property. OK, cool.

We tried to hand them the stuff but they told us they couldn't accept any food from the outside public to bring into the hospital. It never dawned on us. As we started to leave  one of the guards asked for a donut. My wife opened the box & the dude tried to grab one & my wife smacked his hand away like Chef Ramsey from Hell's Kitchen does in that commercial where he tells a guy "use a cocktail stick." My wife was wearing gloves, asked the dude which donut he wanted and gave it to him.

So we decided to return home & make the fire & police departments happy with some free stuff.

Over a hundred views & less than 10 good deeds noted. You ought to be ashamed of yourselves.

Miserable lazy farkers. Hope you never need something nice from someone 

I got take out at my local pf chaings...the are giving free egg drop soup with take out fyi.

Anyway, the new manager who was on her first day was getting questions from her staff about Unemployment etc.

I told her who the congressman was and his number, website ...he does 3 times a week phone conference calls , so I gave her all the info as this congressman is 'on top of things'.

It's OK to tell a dude that as well but be careful with EX's because you don't want to get in that mess again. 

 I know a single mom, she's asthmatic with a 17 year old autistic son. It's probably a challenge to get out at best of times for her let alone now, I mentioned to her a few times on messenger during this crisis that if she needs anything don't be afraid to ask. A couple days ago she messaged that she needed milk and if I could get it she'll leave money in mailbox. I dropped off the milk along with some other snacks I knew they enjoyed, also dropped off a few dust masks I had lying around when I was drywalling few months ago (told her they were only dust masks and not rely on them). Made plans now to take her and son to bank and grocery shop Monday.

BTW didn't take money from mailbox

I don't like taking no for an answer especially when I'm trying to do something nice. Last week we were turned away with donuts & coffee at our local hospital. This weekend we spoke with neighbors who work at the hospital & told them our story.

They told us the hospital did have a policy of not taking donated food but since so many residents wanted to help, they changed the policy.

This morning we delivered donuts/coffee at shift change.

We saw about 7 or 8 medical personnel walking to their cars in the parking lot. They looked exhausted.

We got out of our car, stood there & applauded them. I'll never forget the smile on their faces. 

Do something nice for someone today will ya?

I read the post on buying the candy bar for the cashier and took it 1 step further by buying a whole box and having the store manager place the box in the break room for everyone to share. I have been shoping at the store for awhile and know most of tbe people there and the smile on there faces maid the rest of the day wonderful.

I want to remind everyone kind deeds don't always involve money.

I mentioned the older woman who ran out of holy water last week. Well, after playing the ponies Saturday I gave her a call to see if she needed anything not expecting her to say Yes but she did. I had a hell of a buzz on & recruited my wife to fulfill her request. 

Our friend missed Sunday mass but said the parish set mass up online in a virtual manner but she couldn't access it. The boss went over & realized she was using the wrong website, fixed it & wallah there was the parish priest saying mass.

If you don't reach out to someone you care about it, you'll never know if they need help. Most people don't like to ask for help especially older people. They don't want to be a pain in the ass & remain silent.

Reach out, you'll be amazed how easy it is to help someone. 

We are fortunate enough to own some rental properties. One is rented by a single Mom who also has her mother with her. She lost her job @ Chilli's about 2 weeks ago. She works a double shift as a waitress from 11 -2 & then comes back to tend bar @ 4 to closing. Rent is $1400 & due tomorrow.

I've been feeling shitty about the situation & called her this morning. Before she could say anything when she answered the phone I said don't worry about the rent. We are going to suspend the rent until you are back working & on your feet again.  

I won't share what was said after that but it was just the right thing to do. Her rent payments are not going to make or break our family.

If you can & there's no reason you can't, do something nice for someone today.

Mahi-mahi for the neighborhood.

We went out this morning looking for birds and a weed line and within a half hour we found a bunch of schoolie dolphin. At one time, we had fish on 4 poles & lifted them right into the ice chest. Our neighbor, the doctor took them to his dock & started to filet them for our neighbors. 

My wife & I love to fish but we are all about catch and release unless we catch fish we know our neighbors love.

This week will be a rough one around the country. Do something nice for someone.

My youngest son and I caught a bunch of slot reds and some sea trout last weekend. We did the work including the fileting and gave away all but we needed for dinner that night. Also, I'm just trying to be friendly and helpful to everyone. We should be that way all the time. Being nasty is easy, being nice is harder but comes with such greater rewards. 

This morning the boss and I decided to volunteer with Meals on Wheel which is a fantastic program providing meals 3x a week for the elderly in communities nationwide. We planned to make food deliveries since we know the South Florida area fairly well.

Seeing the parking lot full when we drove up should have given us a clue but we went inside anyway.

The place was packed with volunteers chopping vegetables, boiling pasta, making pancakes etc. 

There were so many people volunteering their time they didn't need any more people. We were shocked.

So we left a check to help them moving forward & I drove away with more community pride in my soul than ever before.

BTW Getty..we have to go to the Keys to get reds but can catch some nice snook around the bridges around dusk. Nice to hear about you sharing your catch with others. 

Just got back from giving plasma which is badly needed right now.

It only takes about an hour.

An hour of your time may help save a person's life.
