"Care" is such a open definition. Empathy is much better. If you've never been cold, hungry or injured and needed a hand then it would be hard for you to understand. Usually someone like you ends up burned over 80% of their body, and regrets all the nasty things they've said....Good luck with that attitude.

Wrong, never been behind the white picket fence. Grew up on section 8 till i was 15 still not rich but I don't care much about poor people.

Wonder where you would be without your parents, do you read what you write? Read that one more time see if it makes sense.

I empathize but I not too keen on giving monetary handouts.  I volunteer a good bit of time with the less fortunate.

in other words do you care about people who have to go through shit whether it's being poor or having to face a life or death situation?  yeah deep down inside of you, you do care, but right now you have not experienced anything like it.  Having to do with section 8, and being 15 is nothing compared to many other hardships you should prepare yourself to go through later on down the road in your life.  What's great about being poor, going through tough shit, or rotting in hell is the fact that it makes you mentally stronger.  No need to ask yourself the question WHY ME?  Definitely plan on going through some tough shit and when you do, just keep riding it out however long that it takes and sometimes it's years.  Hell another example are those who have to serve hard time in prison because of really dumb shit you know.

First of all I'm not rich I'm probably middle class and worked my way up. I live in the US which is truly the land of opportunity and, of course luck helps a lot, you can work your way up in most organizations if you dedicated yourself but if you're lazy you are normally screwed. 
Anyway here's my take. To me it depends on who's fault it is you're poor. If you're a baby and your parents have you while they're living in a box on the street then your parents are idiots and I have a tough time sympathizing with you or them. If you can't afford a kid don't have a kid!! But if your parents are making ends meet then there's a fire and they missed a fire insurance premium because they lost their job and lose everything then yeah, I feel for you and your family and would gladly help.
Dudes on the street who beg? F 'em! I have had too many, I'm the moron since it's happened more than once to me, bitch at me when I gave them a dollar that they needed a five. I will never give them money again.   
I give to a few charities when I can. It sucks due to admin fees I know but I think that's one of the best ways to make sure it actually helps. That or if I know a poor family down on their luck we'll go doorbell ditch and leave food and stuff on their porch. It does feel good to help. 
So I guess I care a little but like to know why they're poor.

Yeah I try and give money away when I can. Did some charity carpentry before try and buy a homeless guy a sammwich once in a while.
