Drinking in Public ticket. what happens now?

Question

I went out last night with my friends. My friend got kicked out of the club, i followed him with my beer in my hand(i didnt think about it). The second i came out, a cop came up to me and gave me a ticket for drinking in public. It is an infraction, not a misdemeanor. I have a clean record, is there any way i can contest it or whats gonna happen? Also, i am not gonna be able to make it to the scheduled court date, im going to vegas lol BTW the ticket was given in Downtown San Diego, CA

Tell the judge you were thirsty.  That should explain why you were drinking.

If you cant make the court date definitely get an extension that you can make or it will snowball out of proportion.

henry youre right. i was amazed how quick the cop spotted me. He was infront of me literally 15 seconds after i walked out. We were both right outside the entrance. Shouldnt the club get fined for letting ppl walk out with their alcoholic beverages?

you don&#x27;t need to go to court unless your contesting. a no show means guilty, but you can probably pay the fine now and get it over with.  am I wrong?

What happens now is up to you, son. Unfortunately, you are at the apex of an extremely greasy slope here. You have to think this through...do not follow the path of others before you. The cop couldn't say, "excuse me sir, you cannot exit a drinking establishment with a drink in hand" and let it go at that?

Well the charges got dropped because they made my eye bleed, then I called 911 from the holding cell and the paramedics wanted to clean my woud up, then the cops were so mad they wouldn&#x27;t let them sterilize my eye. Right on the only good cop I ever met was from England and he was very polite and had exemplary manners.  All police should be trained this way.
