GET OVER IT! MAYBE IT WAS THE COPS POST, MAYBE LAST WEEK SOMEONE WALKED OUT OF THAT CLUB AND GOT INTO A CAR AND KILLED SOMEONE. WHY WOULD ANY COP EVER SAY "EXCUSE ME SIR" WHEN THE MAN WAS EXITING A BAR WITH A BEER ??
HOW IS IT AN HONEST MISTAKE WHEN YOU WALK OUT OF A BAR WITH A BEER IN A PUBLIC STREET?( MAYBE THIS SO CALLED FINE ESTABLISHMENT SHOULD OF HAD SECURITY AND STOPPED THIS FINE CITIZEN FROM BREAKING THE LAW AND GOING IN PUBLIC WITH A OPEN CONTAINER) HMM.
REMEMBER, WHEN YOUR MOM/DAD IS HAVING TROUBLE BREATHING OR JUST GOT ROBBED, DON'T CALL 911 !

"The cop couldn't say, "excuse me sir, you cannot exit a drinking establishment with a drink in hand" and let it go at that?"
Youre completely right. i understand it was my mistake for walking out the door with a beer, but i couldnt let my buddy get kicked out by security while i watch and sip my beer. I had no idea of what had happened, i went to the bathroom and when i came out i saw him getting pushed around by 2 security guards
I understand that it is his job to enforce the laws, but he couldve handled the situation differently. Keep in mind that i wasnt drunk (it was only 3rd drink of the night) and i didnt at any time show disrespect to the cop. I believe he was trying to make his end of the month quota.
Any idea how expensive this ticket is gonna be?

Just pay the fine, if you blow it off and miss court they'll issue a bench warrant then you're really fucked.
Sometimes you can reschedule the date up to 3 times, depending on the laws in your area. Show up the 3rd time and plead not guilty. Usually by that time the cop forgot about it and doesn't show up to the hearing, then it get's dismissed.
Most cops do suck, they're never around when you need them and always there when you don't want them around.

I went out last night with my friends. My friend got kicked out of the club, i followed him with my beer in my hand(i didnt think about it). The second i came out, a cop came up to me and gave me a ticket for drinking in public. It is an infraction, not a misdemeanor. I have a clean record, is there any way i can contest it or whats gonna happen? Also, i am not gonna be able to make it to the scheduled court date, im going to vegas lol BTW the ticket was given in Downtown San Diego, CA
Call Johnny Cochrane...
If he answers ..hang up...

See, there is alwaus more to the story than what was originally posted....When you came out of the bathroom your buddy was being pushed around by two security guards.....If he was being escorted out that means there was an incident so more than likely the cops were called before they started escorting your buddy out...that is probably why the cops were already there and then they caught you with the beer in your hand....so why did your buddy get kicked out? You have to set the mood or tone before you start bashing the cops because you definitely left out some key components from your original post...
COVERS allows u to tell someone they are sexually frustrated so long as ur hands are clean

Some guy "accidentally"spilled his drink on my buddy. My buddy claims it was intentional who knows. Guess my buddy pushed him, and security instantly grabbed him and thats when i came out of the bathroom and saw him. I walked out with the beer. Security just told him, he wasnt coming back in tonight.
If the cops were called for that incident, shouldnt they have talked to my buddy or the other guy to clear things up? We both came out and the cop came up to me instantly. My friend was next to me the whole time.
Whatever, it happened. my mistake, i dont blame my friend. I know he wouldve backed me up, if i wouldve been the one in that situation. I just have to pay or contest it and its done. I have a clean record.
Do cops usually show up to contest this type of tickets?

Probably not, irregardless, PLEAD INNOCENT anyway. Listen to what the Prosecutor has to say, if you don't like the deal, call his bluff and take the case before the Judge. This is the EXACT type of BS that Judges don't like cluttering up their court. Tell it like it was, an innocent mistake that could have been handled more professionally by law enforcement. Don't let this DICK COP get over on you, FIGHT.
