But I'm so addicted I don't know how. It has been a part of my life for quite some time and I hate it more then anything in this world. I have not lost everything but I feel like I'm on my path, and have recently contemplated the end. I tell myself that is not the answer and never will be. I lie to others that I don't do it anymore because they ask, and I feel ashamed to admit that I still do it.

I have looked online for help but nothing seems to help. Does anybody know any good numbers? I'm not sure if I would do well in a support group simply because I don't think I'm in as bad of shape as others, but on the other hand I feel as if it's bad for me because I have thought of ending my life.

If anybody can provide guidance, help it would be wonderful. If you are going to come in here and make fun go ahead. If that is what makes you feel better so be it. Your provactive. I just want an out, and I need someone to direct me in the path. I need help seeing the door, and walking through it.

Kuddish - it is the hardest thing to do. Every day you will be tested, for your strength of character.

It is a day to day process. I like your thinking, you haven't lost all your money YET, but if you feel like your heading that way, the best way is to stop. Good luck with it

Dude, no jokes but no numbers or anyone can make you stop.

Think deeply and honestly admit to yourself what drives YOU to make the decisions to keep the love/hate relationship we all have in our blood.

Gambling is like an ex with a fantastic vagina

You left her because she made your life miserable sometimes but the vagina was superb

You always cave in and go home with her randomly down the road. Or in this case.......

You have to take a break...I take breaks and I can't enjoy a game now and after a week you can start to break the urge.....Which is always there to blow your load.

I simply Can't watch sports because then I want to find out what the line is...."oh sh'it, looky here! A gift at -3 at home"

Set small goals of breaktime but NEVER say you're done to GF's, wives, family because they love to say..."I thought you quit?" I hate that!

We are not ever the quitting types but analyze yourself truly and break from watching any TV games and you will see you can stop yourself or at least control the fun/madness....It works for me

I have many vises I am truly in love with! But I like to challenge myself also to pick and choose which one or ones to walk away from and just know that I may get a wild hair every now and again

Who do you bet with?  Find a way to make it impossible to allow yourself to get a bet down.  Good luck.

maybe a rehab type situation where you are just out of your element for a month whether that's a professional rehab facility or you just going of the grid camping/hiking with no internet for a few weeks to help you get out of the game.

If you are not losing substantial amounts of money but are still this down on yourself, it is more than gambling.

You need to seek clinical help for depression. Is gambling altering your lifestyle in such a way that it is having a negative impact on personal relationships? Gambling is getting in the way of you conducting the life you'd ideally like to live?

Also, it is possible that gambling and/or alcohol have altered your brain chemistry to some degree. if that is the case, medication may be what is needed.

    AGAIN.

You really need to seek clinical help.

You are this depressed and you are not losing your shirt. Imagine if you did. You can't take that risk. I've known people that have thrown in the towel over it. Don't be one of them. Get help

Most people that try to make it alone fail. I'd suggest a support group but at least talk to a professional.. what do you have to lose? you already wanna kill yourself. It can only get better from there.

    One day at a time.

You need to take baby steps in order to change your life. Easier said than done. Once you go a day then another then another without gambling it becomes a little bit easier to stop as time goes by , eventually as days and weeks go by it will become more of a routine and gambling will be in the rear view mirror.. I made a list of things I like to do instead of gambling when i was at my worst , its really hard to do at first but after a while it becomes a lot easier..

Why cant people just bet within there means?

I mean Iv never understood Gambling as an addiction.

    Live your life

Do all the things with the money you need to do, Pay Bills, rent, car insurance, car payments, clothing, food, a night out a couple of times a month.

and save what you have left over for the season on the sport of your choice and play small, enjoy yourself, You win great, You lose oh well, start all over again.

I know this wasn't an answer to the question but as adults, we all need to show a semblance of control and restraint.

    detox is right.

you need to vent and release some emotional sh*t.

    keyboarding no count.

life can be fun. you have to choose to let it be. a lot of us lose sight of this.

Kud, you've been on this site for quite a while. Why have we never heard of this before?

What's one of the first rules of gambling? Money management. What's one of the first rules of Life? All things in moderation.

You can't kill yourself, because then gambling WINS. And you LOSE. Your life! What would be best for you right now? I'm guessing NOT gambling. Imagine your life without gambling. Sound good to you?

You've taken the first step by admitting there is a problem. You're talking to us, now talk to others. Nothing wrong going to a group. You'll find people worse off than you, and some not.....

When my wife was going to AA, she'd hear a lot of "Well, I'm not really an alcoholic, it's just beer"................so what's better than a beer? Two beers. What's better than two beers? A six-pack. And on it goes.........

PM me. We'll talk. The journey of a 1000 miles begins with a single step

Exactly right. In my case-I have a gambling bankroll set aside & I ONLY bet a certain % of that bankroll on EACH BET-and nothing more. I'll never ever get into trouble. My bets are not huge but it's strictly entertainment-bottom line. There's no need to ever wind up feeling like you want to jump out a window.

check out meetup.com there are plenty groups you can join to get your mind off of gambling, camping , hiking , biking, eating out. if your in the united states you can also join teen challenge I think they take all addictions no matter what it is.

or you can turn your losses around and do sports betting for a living. just follow adg this summer in the systems & strategy forum. win some of your losses back and mabey more than that in time.

Cold turkey is the way to go. Weening yourself off gambling is an utter joke.

The best path to not betting on any night: DO NOT LOOK AT THE LINES!

Once you do that, after a few nights you won't have the strong urge to bet a game and will be able to watch it without gambling intent.
