of the things yuice suggested, i say you definitely have to check out millenium park and second city. lived in chicago for a couple of summers and have visited multiple times since, and finally went to check out second city last month. one of the funniest things i've ever seen. navy pier is ok... a nice walk along the pier but nothing that you want to spend most of the day at. if your significant other wants to shop, obviously go to michigan ave. i thought the sears/willis tower was overrated when i went like 8 years ago, but it may have changed some since then. also have never taken a boat tour, so can't comment on that.
as far as eating, you have to get some italian beef and i highly recommend Al's. do the combo with hot peppers and thank me later. if you're looking for fine dining and like prime rib, lawry's is the best combo of atmosphere and quality that i've had. gibson's has a different vibe, but their steak is really good. grab a hot dog at portillo's as well. none of these are near wrigley, so you'll need to check them out on another day. plenty of places all around wrigley to eat and drink. murphy's bleachers right across the street was fun joint, from what i remember... which isnt much unfortunately. also, bacci pizzeria is on the way to wrigley from the red line. has giant slices of pizza at a good price. place is dirty though, so not sure whoever you're going with would be ok with that.
i agree, wrigley will be the highlight so you should have a good time regardless. im so jealous, was just in chi-town a month ago and am ready to go back already. have fun, you'll love chicago.

Thanks for the info. I will also be going this summer for the 1st time. Any recommendations for things (bars/eats) within walking distance(3 or 4 blocks) from Wrigley?

italian beef sandwich at bernie's....
bernie's is the best atmosphere in my opinion if you want to sit and drink while enjoying a decent meal. meals are priced decently.
italian beef is awesome though.

Gotta agree with this statement, especially regarding Taste of Chicago. The two times I went there, there were some ghetto ass people walking around causing trouble and the food was just ok. Just way too crowded to really enjoy. There is usually a decent big name band performing there for free, so see who is playing and hang around that area. Crowd isn't as rough as other areas. If you're going to Chicago during Taste, head up north to some of the beaches. I went to a bar called North Ave. Beach Bar (I think), and it was absolutely chaotic and filled with hot ass. Not sure if it's like that all summer or not, so maybe others can chime in. It was in the shape of a boat, and the bar was on the top deck and girls are just running around up there drunk in their bikinis... pretty good time. As for Navy Pier, it's nice to go to and check out for first timers, but I've only gone again to show out-of-towners what it is like. It's a nice walk to the end of the pier for good picture taking opportunities, but pretty much is a tourist trap. No good restaurants in there. There is a beer garden that usually has a small band playing where you can sit and drink, if you like. That's the only thing I've ever really spend money on at Navy Pier, other than souveniers.
Something else that I thought was fun is Old St. Patrick's World's Largest Block Party. Don't know when it is, but usually sometime in July. Lots of singles out there from what I understand. I don't know b/c I went with my girlfriend. But they block off the streets around Old St. Patrick's Church, and set up beer and food vendors. There's usually a good band performing on stage and just a ton of people partying. Definately a good time.
