How many of you play golf by yourself?

I've never done it. For me half the pleasure of golfing is the social interaction and there isn't any guarantee you will get matched up with like minded people. I live in Arizona so during the summer you have to be insane to play golf after 10AM, so you can get out single if you want.

What if you shoot 76?

Here is a interesting fun game to test your skills.

Play worst ball with yourself. Basically you are your own scramble partner but you TAKE THE WORST SHOT out of the two at every spot. Be honest with yourself and take the worst ball and keep your score. And on the green, you must make both for that stroke to count. If you miss one of the two, it doesnt count

Try that and it is very eye opening to the weaknesses in your game.

You can be a scratch golfer and shoot giant numbers. But it will make you think about focus. If you can shoot 82 or below in worst ball. You need to quit your job and enter the tour qualifying school.

Then after that try going out to a sit down type restaurant for dinner during the dinner rush at a crowded place. Tell the hostess, yes that's right bitch! One.

I am always high so I don't factor that in. But I will tell you one thing, as you sit there waiting on your food, you will have some deep thoughts about the weirdest things. It is almost a mental challenge to see if you can stay comfortable.

 It is worth doing at least once. Get over your fears about what people think about you. Which seems to me to be the biggest fear people have about riding solo is being seen and how uncomfortable that is. Fuck em

 I've played alone a # of times for that reason. I live 3 mins. from a muni & will go out there after 7pm (sometimes the pro will let me go for free). It's nice to just walk & drop balls in different areas for practice..........like fairway bunker shots........stuff you cant work on at the range or practice area.

 Then other times it's nice to just go out & light up as you're walking down the 1st fairway w/o a care in the world & no one around.....................serenity now.

Played alone all the time in Arizona and Seattle.

Practice alone as well on pitches, traps an putting to where I had every shot 'bout mastered. Then confidently proceed to the tee box, card in hand on the back 9 and promptly slice my drive two fucking fareways over.

Look like an accomplished golfer at the range but soon as the horn blows, I'm complete dogshit.

I've played alone a bunch.  It's fun to meet some schmucks at a muni and play a round.  especially if you get lucky and find some beer drinkin dudes.  sometimes you get unlucky and get a 70 yr old couple.  thems the breaks.

But playing alone when you have no one else in your group.  If you belong to a club and you just head out on your own... I like it.  it's peaceful, you move quick.  you don't have to wait.  you can get in a groove.  you can take mulligans.  it's great.  i would do it all the time if i had the time. 

You "jack-it" in line at the shoe store I presume?

I got paired up w/ Mookie Blaylock once going out solo. He was hilarious & not a bad golfer either...
