New show starting tomorrow night about the "big boys" of sports betting.  Seems like it could be good...anyone else seen the previews for it?

All the promos say it's a series premiere...maybe there was a documentary on him previously.  I'll be tuning in for sure to see what it's about.

Starts at 10pm EST tonight on CNBC

There was one episode on last year.  I assumed that the station caught too much sh1t and yanked it.  Supposedly Stephens isn't his real name and has a checkered past to say the least.  I'm sure someone will chime in with more info.  I don't remember all the details....

Watched last night..........the guy is a scammer.........gave his buddy a loser then had him double down on the next game.........another loser ...........then had him double down again.........guy finally won & had to split the winnings with scammer. What fkkin moron would do that?

That was definitely my first thought.  At least they are doing the positive side of it for the public by showing the losses.

The 15 minute teaser is ok - never heard of this pompous guy and had heard some reports of MSNBC not investigating his background - appears this blowhard may be a fraud , imagine that

I saw it yesterday. I like this type of shows (sports betting). Although I don't like the touting business.

The show was GREAT if not just to be transported into the world of high stakes gambling. I watched every second. 


But seriously, how could anyone pay FIFTY PERCENT COMMISSION on winnings?

Tell me this is a joke...tell me...

Saw it last night....Dude bet $1,200 on Cincy laying 6 pts.  Cincy ended up winning only by 3 pts over Buffalo. His gf was by his side.  If he continues to lose $1,200 a game, I don't think his gf will be by his side anymore.  lol

There was something about that game worth noting.

The kid was laying 6 due to the tout's advice.

So the game goes to OT and now a miracle push is the absolute best that can happen (and almost certainly won't).

So the tout is there saying, "Cincy just has to drive down field and score a TD and we push. Let's do this!"

And the kid is them openly cheering for a Cincy TD...


In OT....

Even with the new OT rules, if you are laying > 3 and it goes to OT, you turn the game off and look to the next.

And here's this kid and his gf cheering for missed field goals, FROM THEIR OWN TEAM, in OT so on a subsequent drive that very same team tries to score 6...

These people who are betting don't even know the basics of the game and the touts string them along...


Cincy ended up winning by 3 (shocker) and the kid and gf looked like someone died.


Ya gotta see it to believe it. The dirty touts and the squares will blow your mind if you watch it.

That was my favorite part of the show was the low stakes (500-1000 a game) bettor because he seemed the most like a Covers member.  Hoping against hope until the very last second

Covers members are smarter than that man. 

Even covers members know that when they are laying 6 to another team and it goes to OT, they are toast. 

This kid legitimately thought he was still in it. It was amazing to watch...

Yeah...that's what bothered me the most about tonight's episode (2nd of the season).  "Steve Stevens" constantly lies about the amount of money that his client has "won".

First bet was $11k to win $10k....won.  Client wins $5k after 50% commission.

Second bet was $11k to win $10k...loss.  Client is now down $6k overall.

Third bet was $22k to win $20k...win.  Client wins $10k after $5k commission...up $4k overall.  Stevens says clent won $19k overall for the weekend?

Also, the fact that he used the "backdoor" term for the Virginia/Duke game when he had Virginia -2 and Duke won 35-22.  Being up 22-7 at the half and losing 35-22 isn't a "backdoor"...bum.

The show is ridiculous. I watched it last night for the first time. Most of it was random crap building relationship with the client which I dont care about. I just wanted to see the betting. So they take Atlanta -6.5 for 22k. The guy's logic was something like hey we split the first two so lets up the stakes. Great bankroll management. Bring 50k and bet 22%, 22%, and then 44% lol I don't hear anything in depth just the Bucs haven't won a game all year and won't start now. Great reason to lay 44% of your bankroll. Then I did hear him say he made 9500. The 50% commission is ust flat out insane and dumb. Nobody betting that much money could possibly be that stupid.

In the first episode, the UNC/Miami and Sea/Ariz game were both Thursday night. They double up the next day on Sea/Ariz, impossible.

Same deal with episode 2. The Duke/UVA game and Ball State game are the same day! 

Its a bunch of actors.

It's 50% commission on his total winnings by the end of the trip.  It's not 50% on each winning ticket.

I think this show is awesome.  Of course it's ridiculous reality TV but how many shows to we get to watch about sports betting in Vegas? Everyone is getting so butt hurt over the editing and BS in the show, who cares.  Sit back and enjoy and don't take it so serious.

Not taking it serious is why I enjoy it...like Mike C. said...they give absolutely no reasoning whatsoever about making bets.

"Tampa hasn't won a game all year, and they aren't going to start now"    What about covering a game?

very entertaining show and before everyone pooh poohs it for being fake, some people do want their hand held if they know nothing about sports, its amazing what a sales pitch can do
