I am moving to the Tampa area in 2 weeks and I am having a hard time finding a job. I was wondering if anyone had any connections down there and could help me out. I am pretty well rounded and have a bachelor's degree. If you need my resume, I will be happy to give it to you.

I just checked out corporate site out, and we don't have anything in Tampa that doesn't require at least a good year or two of sales (it's not really a traditional "sales" position, but they like that background). I fyou do have some sales experience, let me know.

Tim you are going to have a hard time finding a job with just a bachelors degree in psychology I think in this terrible unemployment market....I would recommend finding a gig at a bar or restaraunt in Tampa and go back to grad school if you really want to pursue psychology.

i def agree, i was just hoping someone knew someone, its all about knowing people and right now i dont know anyone down there. thanks for your help

yea but they are new the the area as well, sorry i dont know anyone who can help with me a job

don't know anyone in FL.. try seaching the tampa newspapers online to see if they have any job fairs coming up. Or have any listings for job placement//headhunters down there

You're going to have a very hard time finding something before you move down there. A social work type position might work for you, but that is about it with a BA in Psychology (I know as I have one). If you want to get into Business, you're going to wait a long time before someone is going to take a flier on you. Why would they hire you when they can just hire a person who just got their BA in Business????). Uphill battle...you'll need some luck for sure.

Coming from Ohio? you should be looking at boat sales in Fla. People might not want to spend 125k on a Boston Whaler (like myself) but I'm buying something.

BA in Psychology......worthless without at least a masters. I have one too so I know and I also lived in Tampa. I couldn't find anything after college either so I got my mortgage brokers license and did that for a few years. That is an option for you although I think this is the worst market for that right now, horrible. I stumbled into a booming refi market at the time but that is not the case now. Realtor and mortgage companies are always hiring because they don't have to pay you anything. What you produce is what you make so you will always see ads for jobs like these. Keep checking craigslist, career builder and make sure your resume is decent. It will open doors for you (interviews) if it is good and get you in the position to be able to sell yourself.
If you already have a resume on the jobsites and aren't getting any response, make a new one. You say you are looking for a job in business and have some accounting experience. Make a resume geared towards that and recruiters will email/call you. They are vultures and don't get paid unless you get the job so work with them. There are always accounting jobs in finance. As Hutchemall said you have an uphill battle if you are relying on your degree to get you the job. Good luck
