dont be a box. call him and explain the truth to him. say that you got carried away and bet over your head. then tell him you will give him 150 a week until the debt is paid.
the most important thing is to not hide. be a man. call him and tell him the truth. then come through on your word.

best advice above if u can afford 150 a week.....
only thing I can add is to make it 1800 over 12 weeks.... take initiative to build the 20% juice in.... he'll appreciate it and it'll keep him from making your number worse....stay outta action til then.... bet within your roll when you return by avoiding chase mode..... and always, always pick up the phone.... communication is huge, even if it's not he wants to hear atm....
gl and lesson learned hopefully

Any chance you can pick up a second poker game each week to deal at? If so you could be out of your jam in 8 weeks.
Be honest with the guy and ask him if you can pay it off in weekly installments. He should appreciate your honesty and your efforts to square your debt and will work for you. After all, he has little options to get his cash from you otherwise.

Call him, tell him the truth. Do not tell him exactly how much money you have to work with in your life, just tell him you wont be placing anymore bets but you will pay him weekly for ten weeks then you guys can discuss if a future relationship can take place.
Interest? NO. This is not a credit card. This is a human, just talk to him. This is not the days where somebody is going to come strong arm you over 1500. He is already providing an illegal service and 1500 simply isn't worth making your life miserable, especially if you're going to pay him off.
TEN WEEKS. Get it done. You're back in time for College bowls, NFL playoffs, and Christmas.

ya this really isn't that big of a deal. You make 400 a week, but need some money to live on so giving him 150-200 seems fair. Do you have any shit laying around you can ebay or pawn. A camera you don't use or some old video games. Get some cash together and drop off a few hundo to the guy and tell him the truth and how you can on paying him weekly until even. Go work at taco bell if you have to for some extra dough each week

why wouldn't a bookie wait Better to be an understanding bookie and get paid eventually than to try and be a tough asshole type and risk getting stiffed completely.

I think that he'll probably get charged some points for being in debt. I concur with the get a job advice. Also concur with the call the bookie ASAP and tell him you got in too deep, don't have all his money, and suggest a payment schedule. Do. Not. Hide.

If you have a decent relationship with the guy who runs the poker game where you are a dealer I'd ask them for an extra shift and to borrow the money knowing he'll keep your 200/week or more until it's paid off. At my local game I've lent/borrowed much more from other players and the house (wasn't great friends with any of them) and always paid or was repaid. If you go this route do NOT gamble until you've paid it off.

think of it this way. suppose someone owed you $1500 and said they'd like to pay you back over time. how long would you be willing to wait until you get all your money back? i think you have to give him half up front and then pay $200 a week. but it really depends on how long you've been playing with him and how well you get along.
