I would never want to be a member of a group whose symbol was a guy nailed to two pieces of wood
And yet another one of my questions goes unanswered.
What about the Hindu who lives in Asia and has never heard of your God? Does that person go to heaven or is he punished just because of pure ignorance?
Simple question.
In 1 Chronicles 28:9 it says, "And thou Solomon, my son, know thou the God of thy father and serve Him with a perfect heart." Why? "For the Lord searches all hearts and understands all the imaginations of the thoughts." Solomon, my son, serve God from the heart because God knows the heart. The Psalmist said, "O Lord, thou hast searched me and known me, Thou understandeth my thought afar off." In that marvelous 139 Psalm, "Thou knowest my down sitting and mine up rising, there is not a word in my tongue but, Lord, Thou knowest it all together. Thou hast beset me behind and before and laid Thine hand on me. Wither shall I go from Thy spirit, wither shall I flee from Thy presence. If I ascend into heaven, Thou art there. If I make my bed in Sheol, Thou art there. If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost part of the sea, even there shall Thy hand lead me and Thy right hand shall hold me. If I say surely the darkness shall cover me, even the night shall be as light about me. Yea, the darkness hideth not from Thee, but the night shineth as the day. The darkness and the light are both alike to Thee."
In other words, there's no where I can go to escape. You know me deep inside. Jeremiah 17:10 puts it this way, "I the Lord search the heart, I test the mind even to give to each according to his ways, according to the results of his deeds." Yes, God judges deeds. Yes He judges ways. But He judges the motive behind them as well. Jesus said three times in Matthew 6, "The Father who sees in secret will reward you openly." Our inmost secrets may be hidden from human judgment, they are not hidden from God. And we will be judged for our motives. You either do what you do for the glory of God or you do it for the glory of man. And it all comes to this, people, it will all be determined, verse 16, in the day...the day? What day? The day when God shall judge. What day is that? The day when He judges by Jesus Christ, the final day, the ultimate day, the Great White Throne when all judgment is committed unto Christ. In that glorious climactic culminating day when the Lord Jesus Christ judges, all these criteria will be put to use.

Interestingly enough, the word fool can also be translated to wicked. You know atheists are usually wicked. That's how they get to be atheists. They have wickedly reduced God to non-existence in order to entertain their sin with a sense of moral obligation. A fool denies God because he reasons against his own innate knowledge.

It was a yes or no question.
And for the record, my experience has been that agnostics and atheists actually care more about honesty and integrity and their fellow man then many religious folks. And that is a fact.

suicide-
Why don't you go hang out with the conspiracy nuts in the 9/11 thread. Your logic would be welcome there.

All I can say is it just makes me crazy how some people can look at the examples I gave and say, "oh, well that makes sense to me"....or doesn't have questions as to what happens to the person who never ever heard about God? Are they saved? Or what about the murderer who suddenly finds God 2 months before he dies? Is he saved?
Or about how "God always has a plan" when a little girl is sexually abused for years by their uncle. Or that God had a plan for the 6 million person that were murdered by Hitler.
I can't with a straight face look at these things and say, "that makes sense to me." Because it DOESN'T.
Or why you pray to God when someone is sick. If God has the power to save someone....then he must pick and choose because sometimes people die despite all the praying. Why the need to pray, then? It's his decision in the end.....what makes him decide what prayers he answers and what ones he does not? It's for sure not the person praying because I the father of the nicest family I know in the world (and all very religious) just died of cancer. And if their prayers weren't answered, then I don't know how anyone's could ever be. Because they are the most committed and hard praying folks I know.
Maybe you can just explain all this away with some internal convincing. Or maybe you just plain ignore it. I can't. I seek to understand and I have questions.

one might argue that the "somewhere else" should not be religion because religion, after all, is a business and the people who would end up telling others how to live their lives are often guided most by that which most are in busienss for- power and money. not coincidentally, those are two of the primary causes of war. people note that so many wars and mass murders are related to religion, but that cause can be attributed to those two factors that go hand in hand with religions.

this guy's version of heaven may be a pretty scary place. you won't find more people who have found God than in prison and usually, the mroe serious crime, the longer the prison sentence, the more likely they've found God.

And what is even more ironic is many of these people found God because of the dispicable acts they performed (murder, rape, etc.). So it takes a horrific act of violence (plus getting caught) to spur people on to a relationship with God.
And then God rewards that person because....after all....he saw the light and worshipped him?
I just can't make sense of something like that.

interesting that no one has came here with any answers of thier own, of why we are here(and they wont), since energy is not created nor destroyed, the big bang is a joke. you don't have any ideas or thoughts of your own but you want to ridicule those who do? unless you have an idea of your own this isn't a debate

Wow, I thought my topic/thread started shit.
I'm not religious. Religious fanatics make me laugh and even more scare the living shit out of me.
For a majority of people that have faith in a higher spirit, I respect them as individuals and try to refrain from dialogue with them as they usually judge non religious people.
I do know one thing that is fact. The higher level of education a person has the less likely they are to believe in God.
Lastly, religion is the biggest business in the world and it has contributed to more deaths than anything in the history of the world. How can something like that be so positive?

So you worship a person who would offer person A ever lasting salvation after he committed murder....and sold drugs....just because he happened to "see the light" before he died?
And the person who spends their entire life doing good deeds to his fellow man is out of luck. Incomprehensible to me.

Think about this.......when God made us, he put something in our brain so we can believe in him......
For people who say they do not believe in God, they simply have not gone looking for him.......i pray they do......
There are what 5-6 billion people in this world, and a couple of hundred thousand that dont believe in a GOD overall the 5-6 billion that do?
