Of course this happened in the South....

Reminds me of when I was with my black friend in Alabama and his mom called to tell him not to stop in a certain town because blacks were not welcome there.

It amazes me this still goes on.

One school cancels their prom because of a Lesbian...

But on the other end of the spectrum another school gives the Title of "Prom Queen" to an openly Gay Teen boy.

   don't know how long ago this happened, but there use to be a sign before the city limits...what time frame are we speaking of, if you don't mind me asking??

His mom called to ask which way we were coming back and told him to make sure he got gas and everything beforehand and to not stop in Cullman for anything. Especially since he was with a white person.

She said blacks were not welcome there and if they saw us together there would probably be hostility.

i would agree that lesbians probably are an unnecessary distraction to morons and bigots.  better cancel the prom before these baptists show up.

Club...the South still suffers in many ways, as you are well aware... but we have made great strides. The younger generation { 15-25 yr olds} do not care about race whatsoever. We will get there one day. Sorry, but can't comment on our neighbor to the west. I have never lived there and have rarely visited or passed thru.

, where are Proms still important or attended...?  Anyways, I think they should excercise their right to dance with whomever or whatever they want  and go " Footloose" style...yeah, that would be cool...I am sure there is a feedmill they could style up and party down,....good times, shit, I could go Wooderson and pick up a frecklefaced Red down at the Varsity burger joint beforehand and then dance, dance, dance, photo, then out to the light tower afterwards a get down....would be could if I could, alright, alright, alright....
