In theory this is the right thing or else have him pay and then the next game night out wings and beer are on you. But in practice this becomes dicey.  What happens the next time you bet and you are on the losing side of a questionable call? I ma sure you will expect the same type of treatment from him. At which point it essentially becomes pointless to bet at all.

The reality is that you have to either hold firm to the final score or else just scratch betting with him all together.

Referees make mistakes all the time, in all sports.
It is part of the game.
One wrong penalty can change an outcome, where do you draw the line.
In this case it is a no-brainer: the result.

Ask your angry friend if was in a Vegas sportsbook and instead bet $100 on Seattle, would he do the right thing in his mind and tear up his ticket?  

His answer would most likely be NO, but regardless, have the deadbeat pay you your due money.  And who gives a crap how mad he is?  If he is not good for a measly $100, he is not much of a friend any how, and you need to distance yourself from him.

I lost 6 Units on this game and I'm not bitching about it.  Calls like that come w/ the territory in sportswagering.  It's worked in my favor and it's worked against me (maybe not to Monday's extent).

The man needs to pay but I'd personally buy him a couple of brews the next time you're out at a bar.

Tell your friend to grow a pair and pay up.  It's that simple.  So your bets are conditional based on zero errors made by refs ... *THEN* you can collect?  How many freaking missed calls you think goes on during the course of the game?  With real refs?  Tell that cry baby there's 14 more weeks of NFL left ... meaning plenty more opportunities for you to drain his bankroll.  Don't let him beg for mercy week 3, that's just too soon.

you tell your friend that he better pay up for trying to rip you off, if he doesn't then that's your problem for taking seattle without realizing you should have profited $155 as opposed to just $100 for a seattle win.  How do you know he wasn't using you to get better odds?  a $100 bet on the packers would normally yield a $57 profit.  No speads were talked about, no juice just a straight up "friendly" bet.

a bet is a bet. tell him to pay up. not your fault those scabs made a BAD call.  but it would be cool if you then took that cash and bought him a steak dinner and some cold brew. i think he wouldn't be as angry.

These so called "friends" are who we thought they were.  Friends make small bets with each other all the time, who the hell takes 25 dollar bets like it's some bullshit, bullshit!  And you are telling us that there are friends out there who tried to place a $100 bet with you assuming he will be able to profit $100 when it should have only been $57?  And then you allow him to just give you $50 when it should have been more like $155 due to the +155 moneyline?  Pieces of shit "friends" like this are who we thought they were!  And that's why we place the damn bets with them!  Now, don't mind me slapping this podium because i'm not really angry at the microphone, but if anyone wants to agree that friends should only be paid $50 in this situation you might as well crown their asses!  They are who we thought they were and you let him off the hook!

Jack, had your friend paid the money you were owed IMMEDIATELY after the game without making a fuss, I would have NO problem giving him half or all of it back.  After all, it is a measly $50 and he manned up like one would expect. 

But since your friend seems like an ingrate instead, and thinks he is owed something in life, you should have stood your ground and taught him an important life lesson.  Now he knows there are no consequences to his actions, and you are encouraging him to pull that bullshit again in the future.   

I would love to hear his excuses if you were dumb enough to loan him $500 or so in the future.  He is not good for $50, so anything above that will likely be defaulted on.

earthWake, why do you have to make me feel so bad in front of everyone on this forum?  isn't it so obvious that i can't get a girlfriend in real life let alone have any friends to bet with?  what's honestly the big deal about jacking off all by myself at home?  You know earthWake, i've learned my lesson about getting fucked in the ass since 2006 when the bears made the biggest comeback in nfl history being down in the 4th quarter.  Obviously you weren't betting 7 years ago because then maybe you'd understand why my butt still hurts from then.

well for the week he owed me 175, so i cut it to 125, he actually is a pretty solid dude, he kicked in a little extra.

 

deadline to pay is tuesdays, its a nice set up no juice we have fun.

i never bet friends more than 20 bucks it avoids all of the drama, i'm not gonna try to get rich off one game and not from a friend, at 20 bucks he would have payed you that night or you keep a tab and 90% of the time things even out
