Played at Wheeling today at a $10 table. Just idiots. I don't how many times people were speculating what would have happened if he hadn't hit this or if she had hit that. Then they'll say "Oh that worked out great for everybody!" They don't realize I guess that the entire shoe is changed. And they also don't realize that it doesn't make a damn bit of difference who hits what. You're still gonna get good hands and bad hands. I don't care what anybody says. Another player's moves is not gonna make you lose all your money no matter how stupid those moves are. In the end the good luck and bad luck is all gonna even out. Then I have a lady tell me that when she doubles down against a dealer 10, she always ends up with 21.
I was getting shît cards all day long and lost $315. What a shîtty day. I don't care who hits what. The next blackjack I get I can thank the dumbshît that doubled on a soft 14 against a dealer 10. Yes... he did it. He was sitting right beside me. He was a fifty year old harry fat man wearing a sleeveless Cavs Lebron jersey. Classic.

Then there was this other lady that wouldn't stop complaining about the smoke. I don't like it either lady but you're in a casino that allows smoking for God's sake. Leave if you don't like it. Didn't you expect some smoke in a casino that allows it? Don't be a flippin stupid.

Last time I played, the game stopped for 15 minutes because an old guy was dealt 5-5, and he couldn't understand he had the option of splitting or doubling down, and that he had to make a hand signal to say which he wanted. He was all set to split them, then th dealer and another player talked him out of that into doubling down. Then the cards came out 6, 10, 6, 10, (so he had 16) and the dealer drew to 21.

My favorite is the guy who stands on a soft 16.

Actually just got back from AC with my buddies. First time playing and won like 240. But I think I was just in the right place at the right time and they was telling me when to stay and when to hit. So ur prolly refering to a person like me lol bc I had no clue what to do.

Get off the 10 dollar table and step up if you want to lose the numb nuts very few on the 50/100 or high stakes tables.
Anyone that claims it makes no difference how you play is sorely mistaken.
I agree on the less idiots at the higher stakes tables comments. But I disagree on the it makes a difference on how you play.
If you mean that your own play makes a difference in your own outcome then you are correct.
If you mean that the play of others effects your results than I disagree. Of course a ill advised hit by a player at the table can make you lose some hands but people always fail to mention the times that those ill advised hits happen to take a good card away from the dealer making the dealer then bust. IMO the ill advised plays are basically a wash in terms of helping / hurting.

Statistically speaking, it makes no difference how others play their
cards. Zero. We've had this discussion before many times here on
covers. As Matt said above, bad players are a wash in terms of helping /
hurting.
I personally don't like bad players at my table. It makes me uncomfortable. Any time I am uneasy, whether it be because of bad players, a dealer I don't like, smoke in my eyes, an ugly waitress, whatever, I get up and move. I want the playing conditions to be perfect. It's tough enough winning at this game without all the other unnecessary distractions.

Hey duley... I don't mind newbies. Everyone has to start somewhere. It's just annoying people and people that have played, that aren't new, they have their theories, they are wrong, and they insist they know everything. You can't tell them they are wrong because they really think that they know everything. I have this frame of mind that it's a good thing when I'm wrong because I've just learned something.

Bluefin... if you, me, and three others are sitting at a blackjack table and I hit a 14 against a dealer six (which I shouldn't and wouldn't do), are the type that would get upset if you're the next player and you need to hit your 8?

Great trip to the casino this morning. Plus $400 first session. Plus $200 second session. Hit'em and run. That breaks the two trip losing streak I had going.
This Asian woman was playing a solid third base but was afraid to double anything. She would get a 6-5 against the dealer's 7, but just took the hit instead of doubling. It never affected the dealer's cards because she always got the card she needed. She did this like four times in a row and I'm just shaking my head. Why are you leaving money on the table?

Truth is and this will hurt a little and you will not believe it one bit.
It makes no difference in the Long Run what a player does.
You are absolutely mathematically correct. However, I hate when idiots play INCONSISTENTLY, as their gut plays seem to sink the whole table quicker for some odd reason.

Since I've turned 21 when I would play Bj in Vegas id always always play by myself especially the high limits $50 to $100 a hand.
dumbass players take my outs and what cards should be mine so i play by myself.
only play with ppl on the $5 Blackjacks and sit on the first 3 chairs. imo
if anyone see's a 16 yr old looking asian kid with different casino bracelets on his wrist so I dont get carded. thats me LOL holla @ me
I rarely play blackjack any more, but I HATE heads up. At least with 2 other people, someone at the table likely has a pat hand, and the dealer has to hit their junk hand.
I just think you get a screwy flow of cards when you play heads up, bust, and the dealer turns over a 15 and moves on to the next hand.

For some odd reason, the first chair seems to be the best. You get your hand out of the way first, and you get the agony out of the way, and much less pressure from the table had you been sitting at third base.

I feel little sympathy for non-smoking players at a smoking table. But it must really suck for the dealer to consistently inhale all those pollutants.

The dealer can always go get another job? They had this campaign in Vegas that has been running on the radio station non stop to try to get it to a vote for making casinos smoke free and it befuddles me. I get it secondhand smoke isn't the best for you, but to go on crying about it when you have a choice to not work there is insane. When they got hired they knew people smoked in the casino it's not a huge secret. They knew second hand smoke was bad for you yet they took the job anyways. That's like a fireman bitching that he has to go into a burning building. It just makes so goddamn sense to me.

I could care less what others at the table do. I play perfect strategy and call it a day.
Some people on Covers need to look up confirmation bias.
From the wizardofodds.com
In ten years of running this site I steadfastly denied the myth that bad players cause other players to lose in blackjack. However, you are the lucky 1000th person to ask, so I took the trouble to prove it by random simulation. The rules I put in are the standard liberal Vegas Strip rules as follows.
6 decks Dealer stands on soft 17 Double on any first two cards allowed Double after split allowed Late surrender allowed Player may re-split to four hands, including aces Cut card used
First, I had both players follow correct total-dependent basic strategy. Over almost 1.6 billion rounds, the loss of the first player to act was 0.289%, and the second player to act of 0.288%.
Second, I had the first player follow the same correct strategy, and the second player follow the same correct strategy except:
Always hit 12 to 16 Always double 9 to 11 Split any pair Never surrender Never soft double
In a simulation of 1.05 billion hands the loss of the first player was 0.282%, and the second player was 11.260%. So the house edge of the basic strategy playing first player was almost the same, regardless of whether the second player played correctly or wildly incorrectly. I hope this puts and end the third baseman myth, but I doubt it. As I have said many times, the more ridiculous a belief is, the more tenaciously it tends to be held.

I love playing heads up and playing 3 hands at a time. If you are playing good along with some good instinct (dealer hot/cold), you can stand on a 14 when the dealer is showing a 7 to hit your 12 on the next hand and let your 18 ride on the 3rd. Dealer flips over a 9-5 you are in business......

Wizardofroz... that's a great point you make about first chair. I think I'm gonna implement that from now on.
I need to get that $315 back. I don't have to do that right away or all at once, but I will. Gonna stay away for a bit. Need a much needed break. I'll go in fresh after a few months. That last trip just pissed me off. I'd have a 19, the dealer would have a 4 up, flip a 6, then a 3, then a 7 giving him 20. Shît like that happened every other hand or so it seemed. It was ridiculous. When I left I was furious.

It makes zero statistical difference in the long run. Your 'total' wins & losses are in no way affected by how other people are playing their hands--in the long run. You play correct basic strategy vs. the dealer & the hell with other people at the table & how they're playing their hands. A person playing correct basic strategy is still gonna lose money in the long run-but he'll lose at a slower pace then someone who doesn't play correct basic strategy-bottom line. Only real way to beat the game is to learn to count cards without getting barred.

i have a question for all of you, let me know what you think of this because this is what i do whenever i play blackjack:
When i have 2 aces i will split when dealer shows 2-6 but when it's a 7 showing or higher, i will never split or double down, i just play the hand out. If only i could hit after spliting the aces then i'd always split them
Whenever i have a hard 12 against a dealer 2 i will never hit, always stand no matter what.
if a dealer shows a 7 and i have a soft 17, i will never hit other than this i will always hit my soft 17s
And maybe you don't really care about these scenarios as much but would you feel there will be some other angry people at the tables?
