Why are so many people "afraid" of Trump?

For starters, the endorsement from Putin wasn't an endorsement, it was an indictment of Trump's negotiating skills. Does anybody really think if Putin and Trump were in a room together that Trump would come out ahead? World leaders like Putin have to be licking their chops at the prospect of raking this guy over the coals. Trump took on a goliath once before when he took on the NFL, how did that turn out again? He isn't going to strong arm anyone.

Next, go onto any business/economic/stock related website and read article after article after article about how Trump's proposed policies will cripple your state. You can claim media bias, but everywhere you look, unrelated news entities are spreading the word that Trump is going to be bad for business. Continue going on to these sites to see more and more people of high business acumen continue to come forward and explain how bad Trump is going to be for you, your state, and your country's economy.

Let's not forget the issue of the wall that he wants built along the southern border. He has grossly underestimated the time and cost of such an expansive project. Not to mention he is too stupid to comprehend that "drugs and bad guys" don't flow in across the border. They tunnel under it, go by submarine, or hop a flight. Massive amounts of rapists and drugs aren't going to stop flooding into our country. The only thing that is going to be stemmed from coming into our country will be the migrants that we need to keep our costs down. Ever seen a white guy with a college education out there in the fields picking those fruits and veggies? Yeah, me neither. Whether you agree with it or not, illegal immigrants are a key component to our economy. Cut that off, and watch the agriculture and construction industry collapse. Sure will suck when the concrete company comes in with a bunch of white guys who are covered to the hilt with insurance. Your new driveway will cost you 20K.

He wants to ban Muslims from hostile countries. Care to take a stab at where most of the slaughterhouse industry comes from? Somalia. Not anymore if Donald takes over. Hope you don't mind paying 50 bucks for a steak at the grocery store, because every sh!t job in this country is going to have to pay 25 bucks an hour to attract those white people that Trump is catering his campaign to.

He is running on the platform that he is an amazing business man. Last time I checked, he inherited a ton, and largely exploits loopholes. When he doesn't get his way, he litigates or neglects to pay. All the attorneys in the US won't be able to bail him out if he craps the bed when negotiating a new trade agreement with China.

He got into a pissing contest with Ed Koch and instead of dominating the New York skyline with Trump buildings, he got absolutely fleeced by a contingent of Chinese businessmen.

If you have done your homework, and Trump is your guy, then I am happy for you, and I hope he pulls through. But this notion that Trump is going to re-energize the country and "Make it Great" again is a crock of garbage.

I don't know, but whatever he did it would be better than Hillary looking for ways to fund the Clinton Foundation

Funny how when Obama proposes spending half a trillion or more on building or upgrading roads and bridges so many people love it because of all the jobs and the people who would be put to work, but when the border wall issue comes up they think it's too expensive and a waste of time.

The only thing that is going to be stemmed from coming into our country will be the migrants that we need to keep our costs down. 

It's a fake, short term way of keeping costs down.  The $100 you save every time your yard gets mowed you more than pay for in other costs of illegals being here and the one way transfer of much of that money going south of the border.

No but I've seen high school kids and uneducated Americans do all sorts of labor jobs.  Nobody went to college to pick fruits and veggies, so why would they be out there?

Maybe if there were less EBT cards getting thrown around the millions of unemployed Americans would easily fill that void.  It's not that we don't have the manpower, it's that Americans don't want to work those jobs, but why would they in this welfare entitlement state that's been created?  Your white guys with insurance scenario would get taken care of with a free market.  If no one is willing to pay 20k for a driveway, they will have to come down in price or people will hire big Ed and his slow cousin.  The main point here is there is a market for illegal labor because it's too easy for many Americans to live off the gov. compared to picking fruit.  It's not that we don't have the people.

I think you're way off here and the numbers don't add up.  Maybe you're using hyperbole to try to drive home a point but scary miscalculation isn't a persuasive way to do it.  Doubling everyone's salary in a slaughterhouse would still only increase the price of product a few dollars, unless the ratio of steaks/day to employee is like 5:1 and they are pretty much the least productive slaughterers ever.

I am curious if anyone has some thoughts.....this topic has come close to home, as the federal government has decided to relocate 100 Syrian families to Missoula, MT. Not sure if anyone has ever been up this way, but there are very few jobs and even fewer individuals of middle eastern decent. The odds of a Syrian national being able to assimilate into western Montana successfully are slim and none.

It is a real head scratcher, and I can readily admit that I cannot figure out an upside to letting the refugees in....a little help??

    1) Trade deals that have crushed industry in the US: NAFTA sure wasn't a good one for our interests. NAFTA also illustrates why politician on both sides of the ledger are complicit in selling US interests out....it was started by GHW Bush and finished up by Clinton. I also would recognize the Kyoto agreement as a trade deal. Under the guise of climate stewardship, the US agreed to cut carbon emissions through stemming energy production. Developing countries such as China and India did not...thus we began operating at a competitive disadvantage in the energy and manufacturing sectors.

    2) Waco....Bill Clinton gave the order to burn out the davidians at Waco. The notion was that the women and children would exit the compound when it was lit on fire.     And by the way, I have a substantial amount of glimmer down on Trump at +400 to win the presidency....put it down the Tuesday after the Orlando shootings.

    He may not even get on the ticket with the republicans undermining the candidacy, but if he does the vote will look like Brexit.

    Nothing better than quoting an MSNBC or Huffington Post pre election poll in late June for validation.

    All you, or anyone, needs to know about the potential outcome of this election is that the big offshore books have pulled the odds for winning the presidency down in the wake of the Brexit vote.

    I found the line of +325 for Trump at 5dimes, but that is low limit stuff......bookmaker pulled the odds down before Brexit, and those bets had 5k limits. Nobody is booking substantial action as of this writing.

    FWIW, 5dimes has Hillary facing federal charges at +260.....in my opinion that is stretch, but it is funny to see the presidential "front runner" from the democratic party having a line on whether or not they will be indicted before the election.

    So, I will post some information on why polls have limited utility when it comes to actually predicting the winner in the POTUS election. It won't make much of a difference to you, but they are fairly instructive links:

    So, why not throw in some prognostications?

    Here is how I think this election shakes out if it is a Trump/Clinton matchup:

    1) Trump wins everywhere Romney won. Take a look at the state by state breakdown above.

    2) It is important to remember that Obama was extremely popular among democrats  and that fact facilitated a substantial turnout where it counted.

    3) In 2012 Obama carried 50% of the popular vote to Romney's 47%. Due to lower democrat turnout, Hillary will carry less than 50% of the popular....my guess is 48ish. Trump will win the popular vote.

    4) Actually winning the election is another matter. It comes down to Florida and Ohio to get to 270. Like I said, Trump wins everywhere Romney won. Take a look at the county-by-county map of 2012 listed above......Obama won Florida by a razor thin 50 to 49.1% in Florida. Trump has a shot to pick up the counties in the panhandle of FLA that went for Obama, and the north central counties as well.

    5) Turnout from conservative republicans will be much larger than in 2012. It isn't a nice thing to say, but Romney's open affiliation with the Mormon church hurt him among republican voters. ANYTHING that polarizes a voting base along religious lines can only hurt.....his affiliations with the LDS cost him votes, and more importantly, turnout.

    All of these factors combined put this election into crapshoot territory. Clinton will carry everywhere that democrats usually carry....Trump will carry the rest plus have a real shot at Ohio and Florida.

    Personally, at 4/1 the Trump bet has value written all over it....this election is even money at best.

    Well Sidehatch, here is where we part ways. I have just taught you how to handicap something as complex as a presidential race, so if you had any honor at all you would send me some bitcoins for my time.
