You are learning that you have to pick at least 1-2 races with some longshots in there that have some improving form, the right connections or a significant driver or trainer change or hidden speed from only racing on B-tracks. I live for uncovering those.
Every night, I plan to have $120 play ready to utilize ....just in case because those types of tickets can pay $800 -6000 regularly and this is how I profited over $26 000 from 1st covid March when work was shutdown to August 1st in 2020....I think I could have won $40 000 but I got sloppy with my betting and assumed I could key horses that when I look back...it was dumb to do so
Proving is hard. Talk is easy.

AHA!! Do you see how my #2 was the RIGHT add in this race with #1 and #9 .....thats a new trainer, driver and owner off of LUC ROY's horse who just needs a change and maybe Menary who is a whiz with baby horses can give it the right attention and it pops for us.....many might miss that snag!

That's a damn good return on this. I know I heard of people making a living on horses. I was mainly sticking to exactas/Tris and getting nowhere. Never did P5 before now so it's definitely the best way to play this.

I have charted every possible angle with every exotic play and the only one that consistently pays decently for what you spend is the PICK5....correct!
Back in the day, me and a buddy used to spend $300 between us on Pick4's and we made money between about $1500-4000 per month because WE SPENT MONEY to get profit ...and didn't miss too many because we were decent handicappers. But when the PICK5 came, it was even harder to win until you paid attention to payouts and I charted possibilities for one year....then started to hit fairly regularly but realized I needed to spend about $30 -120 ...and not play when the size of race fields were smaller in too many races
There was a time I used to meet at nice restaurants in T.O. with horse owners and trainers....to put money toward a syndicate that bet large pick4's/pick5's /supers but the commitment got to be too hard for me to handle when my job pay and hours went skyhigh so I left.....it included John Fielding and another excellent horse man from Mohawk and Pat Hudon's partner Ken Glass...
In retirement (next spring) when I can study more like in covid times, I will kill it and actually probably refine my betting as my pension will pay me about $600-800 less a month in disposable income BUT...I will be more efficient in my spending and ability to hit more plays logically as I have that much more time to collect my thoughts and not be as impulsive
I can pick up a part time job to supplement my pension but gonna wait a year or so to see if I can be successful supplimenting by horses and the odd stock play that I am also in a group that knows how to swing trade and flip....I have done quite well that way but again, only when I can watch it. I plan on golfing and seeing more sporting events so I need to get my betting income regular ...haha

Let me help you out on who you need and suggest how much so you spend about $250 overall into it ($72 + about $180 in backups so you make some money if there is an upset....lets see what it pays. I suggest it is paying about $600 to #2 and #4 and then about $1200 for #5

CONGRATS BRO....this is going to pay very well!

Doing it that way, you are guaranteed to make money or a minimum of $450 profit and that is the name of the game....don't worry about losing $180 backing up....its about sustaining profits and account to get a shot again on a nice ticket

ROY owns this horse....he has been having it collect cheques and not win but he will make sure he wins the last race and shut down his horse for next year!

Congrats and good night

You can't assume that....I never used to hedge until I turned it into a business as it is for me....it supplements my wife and my luxuries so I treat it in a way like betting sports....preserve capital always !
$450 profit is better than what I am taking home

Cheers....stick with me through the year....try some things and follow me on a wicked big play once in a while and we might hit $3500 -6500 like I did about 4 times in 2020...plus lots of smaller $100- $1000 wins. I wish I could show you as HORSEPLAYER keeps track, but only for about 60 days. I have asked for archive and waiting to hear back as I am planning to analyse what I won and how I won in order to improve
The reason for the thread is to share and see some other people have some joy like was taught to me but I had to learn the hard way and lose a lot haha.
The week I spent at Bellagio at Vegas in 2018 changed my approach as I also got on a major roll for a week there with all kinds of horse bettors latching on and I got treated to dinners, drinks and lots of great moments....I walked out of there with lots of NCAAB sports bets paid for and a losing week plus gaining over $3000 USD .....my wife could not believe it as she outlawed me to sports bet regularly and rather, after that, encouraged me to play more...haha and so I did since I gave it up regularly from 2001 - 2015 or so....just played once a month for a kick

I have been pretty steady since spring 2018 unless I lose for a couple or few weeks and then I take one month off to rebuild account and just avoid pressing which can happen

-wind could be a difference maker as it will be 10-15 mph gusts from the SW
-this means horses from the outside will have to try to get to the front INTO A STIFF WIND ....so only take outside posts if they are the fastest leaving horse in my opinion.....BUT.....horses that have gate speed + good final Quarter times like 27' or faster might come off position down the lane or go up the rail to steal wins....so you cannot just leave every outside post out...be selective!
-best trips tonight are inside position front end speed if they can get the lead easily and have a soft half time.....they will need it as FIRST OVER is not the best but WHO is behind that COVER should benefit to maybe out pace a speed horse
