Heard a talking head say Bill Mott is a end of year killer & has horses every year to give owners another win before the year ends. Today he won twice & had a 2nd in 3 tries.

Personally, I would think every trainer would try to do the same thing for their owners., right? 

I mean these trainers like Mott, Pletcher, Baffert, Maker etc. need to win or their out of business like everybody

Anyway, I call bullshit on the comment until I see data that can verify the statement.

With Baffert still banned from racing @ Churchill, trainer Tin Yakteen will once again take over the training of 4 including Reincarnate, Arabian Lion, Hejazi & Carmel Road. Arabian Knight has not yet been transferred to another trainer.

After a 10 year suspension, "Tricky" Dick Dutrow has been given a NY trainer license.

Arabian Knight is off the Derby trail after a bad workout. Owners want him to develop further before attempting the difficult Triple Crown races. He won't go again until some time in the summer.

Tricky Dick Dutrow has been given a license to train again in NY. He's been suspended for a period of 10 years & expects to have 20 to 25 horses by the time Saratoga starts their meet.

Ron Faucheux has decided to stop training horses & become a jockey agent. He is tired of just about breaking even. He won the trainer championship for the 3rd year in a row @ Fairgrounds. He'll represent Jose Luis Rodriquez at Evangeline Downs.

Pretty sad when you're the leading trainer at a meet & can't make enough to support your family. 

Gulfstream jockey Edgar Zayas has a broken jaw from a spill earlier this week & will be out of action for 2 weeks. It appears that Sonny Leon has been picking up his mounts.

Chantal Sutherland planned to ride at Monmouth this summer until about 10 day ago when she was injured.

Geese wandering on the track spooked her horse & sling-shot her over Haruki who she pulled up after a race.

She broke her humerus bone completely off her shoulder leavingther shoulder dangling.

Chantal will be out about 6 weeks.

Irad got fined 1k for wearing unauthorized advertising on Derby day. He wore pants advertising Jeff Ruby's Steakhouse.

Wonder how much he got paid to wear the pants....

Former Derby winner Rich Strike is moving to the Bill Mott barn after trainer Eric Reed & owner Rick Dawson disagreed on the "movie rights" to Rich Strike who hasn't won since the Derby.

Baffert's lawsuit against Churchill was dismissed by a federal judge.

Jockeys at Mountaineer Park in New Cumberland, W.Va., refused to ride Monday's eight-race card over concerns with the track ambulance and a delayed response time to a spill in the previous night's sixth race.

Apprentice German Terraza sustained a fractured collarbone Sunday night in a fall when his mount, Another Flirt, was squeezed at the top of the stretch and clipped heels after relinquishing the lead in a one mile conditioned claiming race for fillies and mares carrying a $4,000 tag. Esta Caliente, ridden by Jose Leon, was disqualified from her third-place finish and placed last for drifting out and causing interference. 

Terraza was not attended to by medical personnel for several minutes, according to witnesses. The next race was delayed about 12 minutes while the ambulance took Terraza to a local hospital.

The ambulance at Mountaineer Park does not routinely follow the horses and jockeys as is standard at most North American tracks, receiving permission from the West Virginia Racing Commission to stay on a paved road that circles the track.

The ambulance is not a four-wheel drive vehicle and has difficulty navigating the racetrack if it has moisture in it. The track condition on Sunday night was “good” for the race in which Terraza was injured.

As horses were approaching the starting gate for Monday night's first race, a five-furlong sprint, jockeys noticed the ambulance was positioned in the chute on the opposite side of the track near the quarter pole. They were told the ambulance would not follow the field.   

As a result, they returned to the jockeys room and opted not to ride. The track needs to get it's act together IMO.

Edgar Prado has officially retired after winning over 7,000 races.

I remember one win particulary on Round Pond in a BC race when he paid about 30 bucks.

He last raced at Gulfstream in January but has passed the torch on to younger jocks.

Two Phil's has been vanned back to Kentucky after winning the Ohio Derby Saturday due to an right foot ankle injury that most likely will require surgery. Trainer Larry Rivelli says he's done for the year & this may be career ending. Stallion farms have expressed interest.  

Trainer of Maximum Security, Jason Servis, will be serving the next 4 years in prison for horse doping. 

It's a sad story but the cheaters need to be punished IMO.

Luis Saez was part of a bad spill yesterday @ the SPA resulting in a broken wrist & collarbone as well as the death of Burning Bright trained by Mark Casse.

Saez was scheduled to ride Mage in the Travers on Saturday. A replacement rider hasn't been named as of yet.

Trainer Linda Rice has been fined 100k for receiving inside information enabling her to place her horses where they had the best chance of winning. The info she received was regarding horses pre-entered in races she was considering entering.

Jockeys riding in Kentucky will now receive at least $125 per mount & $500 per mount in any race of a million or more.

You have maybe 15 jocks making a million or more, others making a reasonable living but still others living on the largesse of owners/trainers. 

Hard to believe jocks made less than $125 per mount prior to this agreement.
