He was a good jockey before he was corrupt in the late 90's 

Surprised no one said Jorge Chavez. When he took  out the whip the horse he was riding  was in alot of trouble and alot of pain.. He ride the whole stretch whiping the s*it of the horse with front shoulder whips. I spent many races at the fence at Belmont listening to the beating he gave horses. He did hold back..

Seriously though, Joe Talamo.  Hard-working guy who's worked his way up to the big show; kinda like Edwin Maldonado-Alicea who rode here in Tx (at shitty Retama Park) before he moved tack to Cali, and dropped the Alicea.  Already hitting at a high clip!

Angel Cordero. Watch the TVG Legends inverview and you will love the guy as well. Wanted to win more than any jockey ever. Good guy as well.

I'm from the NW so this is easy for me.

 

Gary Stevens winning the KY Derby on Silver Charm in 1997. Cashed my biggest bet, at that time when he won the Preakness. If he hadn't taken him back and swung out wide in the far turn, I think he would have won the Belmont.

 

Seeing him come out of a 7 year retirement and win the Preakness and BC Classic brought a tear to my eye.

Go Gary!!!

THE TOP THREE HAS TO BE THE GREAT LAFFIT PINCAY CHRIS MCCARRON N THE SHOE  after that Cordero p val  bailey never did like pat day  maybe I'll throw in Chris Antley n gary

Been paying attention for twenty years, and for my money not even close. Jerry Bailey.

I do think Dominguez was on his way until injury, and Gomez had all the tools just can't stay out of his own way.

Jocks you have/had to wager on when riding......Pat Day, Russell Baze in NoCal, and especially now, Gary Stevens.......yes Bailey was great too but I always was fond of Eddie D..

Jocks I look for now include Talamo, Rosario, Johnny V. , ROSIE NAP, and I have cashed plenty tix with Kevin Krigger

CRUSH.....no criticism here, but chalky chalky with a lot of those guys, including my guy, Bailey.

My guys today: Rosario, Castellano, Rosie; AND A GUY who I think is riding high and might in the Circle on Saturday on Wicked Strong...MARAGH

Growing up in Chicago, we had a bunch of tracks here when I was a little kid and my Dad, a major horse player, dragged me in short pants to Sportsman's Park, Washington Park, Hawthorne, Arlington and the harness venues.

I actually got to see Willie Shoemaker, Billy Hartack and the old hard knockers.

I think you nailed it on head. Jerry Bailey would never mess up a good mount.. But he was very chalky at the end of his career.

I can tell you this  Rafael Bejarano will run over his own mother with the fu*king horse to win the race..  Plenty of times I watched him squeeze along the rail and almost kill himself and everyone else on the track...  Stewards have one set of eyes on him at all times...
