It is a bit shady but...
Take your 100,000 and move to the oilfields in North Dakota....Williston for example. Start taking wagers as a local.
With the oil boom in North Dakota, you have a bunch of young, blue-collar guys and white collar managers that are making big money. A fair % of strippers have moved from Vegas to North Dakota to dance...I read an article on MSN that some are banking 3K per night.
There is nothing else to do for entertainment over there...a truly untapped market for gambling. I bet you could even hire a local you know and move him out there to manage the operation.

That's not a bad idea. I had a neighbor move there. He and his son build custom housing trailers. They build them here and then drive them there and rent and sell them. Last time he was in town he was telling me the same thing. There is nothing to do. Housing is at a premium, food prices have been inflated, but the Mc'Donalds workers are making 15 - 17/hr.
There is definitely money to be made there.

Rent a small storefront. Setup this storefront with 10 different IP addresses using 10 computers. Hire 5 college kids or stay at home moms to pull Tickets to hot events off TicketMaster and Live Nation. You can pay each person a commission based on each ticket pulled. Safe to say they could make $60-$100 a few days a week for 3 or 4 hours work.
10 computers for a hot event, IE: Van Hanlan @MSG...Yankees vs Redsox could net you 40 tickets easy. There is no reason why you cannot flip these tickets within the 1st few days for a $40-$75 per ticket profit. So say $50 Avg X 40 tickets = $2000 profit for just 1 event.
I think my estimations are not high but prob low to average.

I'm actually in the final stages of opening an in-home tutoring service in both the private and public sectors. Looking at about 8k-12k startup money depending on what the insurance quote comes back at. What Ive found is during tougher economic times parents are more willing to spend on extra education to advance their child's chances at a better future. Mainly because they don't want the kid to be in the same financial situation as they might be. Luckily for me I live in an area where $60-75 an hour is considered normal but I'd say depending how much you invest in marketing you could lower your startup costs and charge less.

A friend of a friend of mine joined a bunch of country music stars fan clubs just so he could get early bird concert tickets to sell on ebay, stub hub etc..I'd guess he makes a few grand a yr and only spends a few minutes a week doing it..If you treated it like a business you could probably do ok.

Becoming a bookie really would be the best business to get into if you want to turn a profit the fastest. Here is why.
Normally takes a lot of time but if you have 100g's you could hire to have the work done for you if you want.
Also even if you are starting out and receive a big bet or bets you take them every time (Get the money in advance). What you do then is go to another bookie (local or online) and bet the opposite. You will be collecting the juice or "vig" anyway which would be 10 percent no matter which team won or lost.
Even when starting out small you will turn huge profits. Say you have a small client base of 20 to 30 with a minimum bet of 50 to 100. You can expect to make about 25 to 50 thousand in a given football or basketball season. And if you have a medium to large client base of about 150 to 200 you can expect at least 200,000-250,000 in a typical football season.
I know this because I used to work as a runner for a local bookie.

Pizza margins are pretty bad.
i wouldnt start off in this business now because of the competition but there should be big margins here, $20 for a pepperoni pizza, look at the ingredients, must cost $3 tops at wholesale prices for the food, no need for cutlery, plates, and no washing up etc,
3 people can run a small shop, delivery charges pay half the driver's wages.

I will be selling t-shirts on ebay. There is a wholesaler about ten miles from my house that sells collegiate licensed shirts and I have access to another wholesaler also. What I will do is sell the t-shirts at the lowest price since I don't have to pay for shipping costs and just blow them out on ebay. There is a huge reseller on ebay called football fanatics which I would love to emulate. I was thinking about trying silk screening but the production process is so taxing.
