Damn sure not going to bet on it, but I think we get a massive short covering mularkey "rally" in the last hours or so today.
 
Reason being that everyone just assumes there'll be a lot more selling as the day goes on.
 
The market is a mean, mean, machine that basically does whatever will punish the most amount of people.
 
What we need, unfortunately, is a VIX around 36 and sheer panic selling to get a market uptrend going.

I am going to flip side your wager and say they finish BELOW these levels.

Financials and tech making lows this early, I think she goes LOWER.

Another thing WSC, "after a thorough due dilligence and close examination of the data," I conclude that the restaurant venture from the other thread is worth 100% of your time and money.

The one from the other day? Ive spent a great deal of time on the subject and I could do it for sure.

GOOG down 20, only another 200 to go and it will be at fair value, maybe 300.

Watch out..

FRE going green here after being down 50%.

One other comment, on Scottrade they are showing the high of FRE at 8.18 but it hasnt been there all day..I see this once in a while where they know the stock is going higher than the HOD.

There was just so much negativity that I figured the manipulators just could make too much money scaring the piss out of shorts.  Exactly what happened.
 
Once again, this crappola today is nothing but another Sucker Special.  It's smart short money bailing out ahead of the weekend.  Only dumb money is buying today for anything other than a short term trade.

Every "rally" coming up is SUCKER'S all the way.
 
Nothing will mean a damn thing uless it is preceeded by a VIX in the mid to high 30s, and probably about a 500-1000 point flushout on the DOW.

More than likely, the FRE/FNM debacle was just another inside job today.
 
Send it down on fear and panic.  Those with inside info are buying like crazy today, and those same people will sell to the dumb money next week once the bailout terms (lies) are released.
 
Got to stick to discipline and realize that the market and its manipulators are my daddy, but I am goddamn sure tempted to jump on FRE for a quick day trade to close the week.
 
Looks like eeeeeeeeeeezy money.  Get in here, ride it up for a few minutes, bail out.

I agree regarding FRE and FNM, selling them down to that levels based on fear was a joke..it goes to show what one rumor can do to a stock.

This thin summer trading is wacky..was plus on the NAZ now down 20 in what like 10 minutes??

Spreads are wide, bid/ask depth is narrow.

I have not been around lately as I found my girlfriend of 14 years dead at 3 am on July 5...and hae not had time to sleep or even keep up with this familiar thread. Just thought I would drop in before dropping off to sleep (finally)

 The market and country is in a serious, serious situation.I hope everyone is watching out ( I have ben unable to cover my ass in some investments) and just be careful out there.It is going to get worse.

Well, another dismal day.....another dismal week.
 
No end in sight to mid east sh-t, soaring oil, plunging dollar, credit fiascos, lay-offs, food inflation, plummetting sentiment........just doesn't get any worse.
 
Really, the only thing "positive" for the market and economy is the rampant pessimism.
 
Vermeer is right..........anyone out there playing with live rounds had best think safety first and money second.  Anyone could get financially demolished at any second if the right safety/hedges aren't in place first.

"Allegedly," the discount window is NOT going to be opened so FRE/FNM can delay their demise and buy more time.
 
I do hate to be pessimistic, but the lies that fall from the faces of our politicians is beyond reproach.
 
There is no question about it........this country is finished, done, caput.  Now when the final nail is driven in the coffin..........could be months, years, decades, but the USA is being buried right now.
 
And history shall always repeat itself..........Old man emperor Nero playing the fiddle while Rome burns.
 
Let's face it..........we in big, big, big trouble.

Sorry to say WSC but IMB is gone, the FDIC took control of IndyMac Bank this afternoon.

It becomes the second largest financial institution to fail in US history.

If this would have been announced during trading things could have gotten REALLY ugly today.  Then again they could get REALLY ugly come Monday morning.

Yeah I brought that on myself, take big gambles and you can hit it big or lose big.
