Aldo vs MaGregor - Who will win?

This is going to be a great fight with a lot of viewers and expectations. Aldo was injured and McGregor has been running strong (fights and mouth :)), but if I have to pick a winner, I think Aldo will take it down even though it is hard to say at that point. Aldo is better overall fighter and really Mcgregor is all stand up. If they stand he will keep his distance with leg kicks and hit him with combinations. Yes mcgregor has knockout power but who has he beaten?? Everyone is taking mcgregor because of recency bias alone. We have him seen him dominate his opponents and we havent seen aldo in over a year but what has changed? The fact remains that Aldo hasn't lost in 10 years and has beaten every talented fighter that has been thrown at him. Mcgregor has one path to victory a first or second round knockout. Aldo can win in many ways and have proven to be able to go the distance many times. Mendes took Mcgregor down at will and when he did he controlled mcgregor on the ground. Everytime mcgregor was taken down he just tries to get back up which tells you all you need to know about his ground game. That fight was stopped at the end of the second round a little prematurely which was very fortunate for mcgregor as he was clearly tired and mendes would have coasted to a decision win. l'll take a dominant champion who hasn't lost in 10 years with more paths to victory at plus odds over a overhyped one trick pony like mcgregor any day.

So to start, don't forget McGregor went all 3 rounds with Max Hollaway and didn't look an ounce tired and dominated that entire fight. Not sure which fight you watched but at the end of round 2, Mendes was gassed... He couldn't even keep his hands up which was when he got clipped with that huge left. Connor looked way fresher... Mendes would have been tko'd in the 3rd if that fight goes on and that's a fact. He had nothing in his tank. McGregor also made light work of Porier and people underestimate him greatly. Porier is an absolute stud. He's beaten almost everyone else he's fought except those top 5 guys. I think this is way more of a fight than people are giving it but I got Mcregor either TKO late or decision. Jose Aldo will most likely stand and bang with him and both styles match up nice. Aldo's lead leg kicks leave him susceptible to that counter left that Connor loves. But Connors wild pressure and style leaves him open on the counter right hand. I believe this fight solely comes down to who can get hit and keep moving forward landed that one hammer. Either man can do it, but I like Mcregor's relentless unorthodox pressure to prevail.

One hell of a fight! One I will most likely be just spectating lol. I also love the Weidman vs Rockhold fight. I train once in a while at LaW MMA and witness first had the work ethic of Weidman but Rockhold is a motherfucker! This fight means fireworks and I hope Weidman takes home that W! Gonna be one of the best of the year. I call fight of the night honors on that one!

yes he went 3 rounds against max halloway but this fight is 5 rounds and I agree mendes was gassed in that fight also but that's because he was fighting on 2 weeks notice. You cant tell me that you really thought McGregor was winning that fight mendes took him down at will and hit him with bombs and got inside on him with some nice elbows and that was with having a 8 inch reach advantage. Mcgregors standup could cause problems for aldo but its not like aldo is gonna just stand there and try to trade with him. Aldo will play this smart and come in combos come out quickly and pepper him with leg kicks to keep the distance. He will also be able to take down McGregor and use his world class jiu jitsu. Listen I'm not saying aldo is a lock or that McGregor isn't good but his wins against b level opponents have not impressed me. The guy talks like he has already beaten the best but in reality he hasn't done anthing. I think this will be a good fight but if it gets passed the second round aldo has a huge advantage he can score takedowns and just has more ways he can win this fight.

I got the Aldo line @ +110 and over 2.5 rounds @ -120. Thinking of putting 100 on first and 120 on 2nd bet. Wish I had put down bet earlier, Aldo had been +130 until recently. What a weekend of fights! Can't wait to see the regular covers guys leans. Just hope Aldo doesn't have too much ring rust, last fight was October 2014 vs Mendes. Hard to believe this guy is only 29 with how long he has dominated.

Mcgregor is the lock of the year I cannot repeat this enough. Intangibles: Confidence and alot of high profile people supporting him: Arnold, JCVD Chris Weidman. He has the power of belief going for him. Skills: Travels around the world and trains at lots of different camps i.e. Tristar in Montreal, Tapout gym in Californiaand ultimate fighter gym in Vegas. Chin: biggest asset, his head is huge and he can take a punch. He has taken less damage in his career than Aldo which is good because your chin has a quota and once you take a certain number of shots you cannot recover from them. Also Conor is younger and this is a young man's sport younger fighters always have the advantage not saying it is a big factor but it is a factor. Jose no doubt has more wear and tear on his body as well. His training style is also Avant Garde: always training smarter not harder learning new techniques which expands the mind and keeps you creative. This guy is so special. His mental fortitude and confidence are unparalleled which is why the smart money is on him. The bookies agree with me. If he loses it would be an upset for sure a shocking one at that.

Mcgregor lock???? Wow. This post shocks me who cares what fighters are backing him what exactly does that mean? Seems like a lot of people are buying into the mcgregor hype and it makes sense he talks a good game. Obviously anything can happen but wow I can't believe you said mcgregor was the lock of the century.

Yes you took the loosest part of my post and attacked it but mentioned nothing else about what I said. Generally success breeds confidence, and when you have a lot of people who believe in you, you become more motivated to prove them right. Conor will rise to the occasion because he thrives on the pressure he puts on himself. Much like Muhammed Ali did.

I'll agree with this much...McGregor got a huge melon, but name dropping ahnold and van dam, you gotta be kidding. Also I think the smart money is on Aldo with seeing that line drop. Gonna be a great fight, and not saying conor cant win. Could be devastating ala barao/dillashaw. I'm hedging with the over 2.5 tho, cuz this won't be outta shape mendes just standing in front of McG.

He said lock of the "year" not century and them ain't all fighters he was name dropping it was mostly celebrities, lol. I'll say this much McG does have a big ass melon and can take as well as give major punishment. this could be a barao/dillashaw fight again but im not betting that. Anyone thinking under 3? That's what would surprise me.

Yes one thing for certain is it will be a contest of two of the highest skilled featherweights on the planet. The world of MMA will never be the same after that night. Both guys haven't lost in a very long time. Mcgregor's evolution has been more marked and his skillset will lead him to victory.

I'll even go as far as to say that McGregor takes this home in round 1, if not the first exchange... Aldo tends to come in strong and get a little wild with his shots. He over commits at times and I truly believe Connor will take advantage of that and land his shots putting Aldo away in the first. Connor will absolutely be using those kicks to target that rib of Aldo as well.

I'll side with Vegas and McGregor. The UFC can't afford to have him lose after Ronda did and he will get the W. The Mendes fight was quite fishy and I almost believe he took a dive. Why go for a choke when he dominated the other round? And McGregor calls TKO in 2nd round and then wins in last second? C'MON MAN.

Aldo is the better fighter but the better fighter doesn't always win.
Also how do you make the champ a 2-1 underdog when he has nothing but dominated the entire division. I believe McGregor takes this one and then the rematch is a toss up!

Just my 2 cents.

Interesting that you take the UFC corruption angle. I tend to agree that when there is that much money at stake intelligent businessman would not allow everyone to be up chance, I can't prove it but it would certainly be within reason.

I feel like connor is the one who comes out aggressive and throwing bombs with his hands down. The interesting thing in this fight is what the strategies will be. Will mcgregor rush forward push the pace and keep his hands down and taunt aldo like he has in his other fights? and on the flip side will aldo try to stand w mcgregor or will he shoot for takedowns and utilize his ground skills?

I like Aldo at + money. Mcgregor hasn't proved anything to me except he talks a lot of garbage and he is crazy which could work against him. Aldo is the seasoned smarter more skilled fighter. But anything can happen. I like the guy above's bet of over 2.5 rounds that's got a very good chance to hit.

They will feel each other out probably for the first 2 rounds.

The only sure thing about luck is that it will change.

I'm surprised McGregor the favorite...considering Aldo dominance the last 10 years. I think Mendes w a full camp beats McGregor. The line scares me...but I got Aldo
