After round 2 the live odds were Jones -200 cormier +150 so the books at least believed cormier won at least one round or else Jones would had been much higher. I had it 1-1 with cormier taking round 2

Exactly, 1-1 was the most likely score heading into Round 3. No way in HELL was Cormier up 2-0 going into Round 3. Absolutely no way. Again, 2 judges had it 1-1 and one judge had it 2-0 Jones. I fully admit Cormier won the 2nd round, although it was much much closer than the first. Jones appeared to be watching Cormier show his hand and Jones seemed to be doing a great job of adjusting, especially by the 3rd. Jones was constantly hitting DC, even while he was backing up. Constantly throwing those front kicks to the body and leg. No wasted movement. That headkick was no fluke. It was a great trap that Jones seemed to have been setting up over the course of the fight and something him and his team had seen DC do (duck his head to the right).
It was a great performance by both men but Jones once again proved he has the versatility to win a fight in a multitude of ways. That was one of the biggest reasons I loved the bet on Jones in this fight. DC wasn't going to knock him out and he wasn't going to be able to wrestle him for 3 of 5 rounds. Jones was either going to stop him or win 3+ rounds. Being the first guy to ever stop DC is super impressive. The dude has had a great career and fought a bunch at heavyweight and had never been finished. Kudos to Jones. He stepped up in the biggest moment when the lights were brightest and that's one GOATs do
