Are you guys doing math problems now, your going to hurt your brains,
and sac that 9 ft is not going to help the hitters in center, though I was glad to see Bum get a few dollars, think he lost out on alot of money staying with Giants as long as he did,but he does not seem like the lavish kind of living guy, pretty laid back and the 85 mill.will do him fine I believe,he is one player that did not make all his decisions about money which is rare, really did think the Giants were going to hook him up but they seem to be a bit more money economy team since the last CEO retired.I do not think they are even trying to put a good team on the field again, good thing is I always have my Astros to root for,RIGHT KEY.
Key and sac and all those other baseball guys, you all have a good Christmas and New Year's,no drinking and driving sac,I know Chicago is not as hard on you guys like out west here, but we need to to keep Key with more people to make fun of,he gets bored when its just me,so no oxies or hard drugs, baseball is letting them light up in the locker room now so smoke away.

Miley was a nice pickup for the Reds. This is the way they have to operate since their minor league pitching cupboard is bare and they don’t have deep pockets.

In other Ohio news the Teibe signs Cesar Hernandez to bolster the infield in case Lindor is moved. Merry Christmas to all covers posters especially the MLB crew.

On Christmas day, we had the warmest Christmas in Chicago's. History.
The south siders signed Edwin Encarnacion on this day, after landing Keuchel a week ago.
The White Sox and Reds imo, have been the most "let's win now" type of movers and shakers this off season.
Ryu to the Jays kind of came out of left field for the most of us. Let's discuss how his pitching style will or won't fit the Rogers center and other AL East parks. He's a heavy ground baller, goes from the grass in LA to carpet in Toronto. He isn't a strike em out guy but induced weak contact.
Something to think about for his personal life. Canada will be his 3rd country of residence in the last 7 years. He's from Korea. LA is a good place for Asian immigrants, high population of Asian people there. I honestly don't know about Toronto, if someone does know chime in.

Sac, Toronto should be just fine for Ryu. I've been multiple times to both Toronto and Vancouver years ago, but safe to say that both cities have large numbers of Asian-descent people. Also, Canada is a lot more accepting of immigrants than, say, the United States, currently.
Years ago, while flying back across the Pacific from Seoul to Los Angeles on Korean Airlines, my seat-mate was a Korean doctor based in Toronto. He had at that time been living in Canada for more than 20 years, he told me. He told me that after we were going to land at LAX airport that he was then going to catch a nonstop Air Canada flight from Los Angeles to Toronto.
On my trips to South Korea, I learned a little bit of Korean. Like (written in English) "Cho hangul-mal chokum hamnida." In English this means, literally, "I Korean-language a little bit know." Verbs are usually at the end of sentences in Korean. I learned just enough spoken Korean to be able to say correctly in Korean, "I only speak a little bit of Korean," lol.

The Reds sign Shogo Akiyama from Japan. A left handed OF.
Don't know much about him. Just read that he has quiet hands, smooth and natural swing. He supposedly can hit any pitch in any location to the opposite field if he chooses to.
Replacing Nick Senzel in the OF has to be an upgrade, even if we don't know much about the guy.

Akiyama played 9 seasons of high level Japanese ball and hit a tad over .300. The Reds look to put him at the top of the order. I look for Aquino to play RF and Senzel to move to LF. Senzel played for us in Dayton in the minors as an infielder but the Reds moved him to the OF because of Suarez at 3rd. I have always liked him as a player and I feel given a little more time he could become a good OF. His only problem has been injuries which has hurt his development.

White sox sign Luis Robert to 6 year 50 million with a 2 year club option that could get him to 88 million.
As a sox fan I love this. Also hearing this might be part of the process to get a trade done for Arenado and I dont think I like that very much if Arenado has an option after 2021.

I assume one of these geezers will replace Gibson in the rotation. Probably Hill, and when he develops a blister by May, Homer takes over.
Hill had surgery, he will be out until June... Twinkies looked to address their weakest point: pitching. With all these signings they look better, on paper, lets see how that translates on the field...
Since nobody mentioned it: Betances to the Mets on a 1 year/10 mil deal. I guess Cashman couldn't afford bringing Betances back to the Yankees, which makes sense given Cole's new contract, also the bullpen will pretty much remain the same as last season, so they didn't really need Betances.
Domingo German received a 81-game suspension from Major League Baseball on Thursday following a
lengthy investigation under the Joint MLB-MLBPA Domestic Violence
Policy. This means he will be suspended for the first 63 games of the new season, since he didn't play in the last 18 games of last season. The earliest date that Germán could return to the Major League roster is
June 5, when the Yankees are scheduled to host the Rays in New York. He can't take part of spring training.
Accomplished time-waster

The Cubs pen was a nightmare last year. Tyler Chatwood might of been their best guy next to Cishek
If you thought the Sox were done, they're not. They steal the Cubs best reliever in Steve Cishek. Having a submariner on the staff adds versatility. Batters don't see that arm angle every day.

The Cubs sign the following to 1 year contracts. Baez for 10m, Contreras for 4.5mand Schwarber for 7m.
Including Bryant, this screams trading dead line trade bait if the Cubs are out of it. If they're in it I guess they'll go for the push. I just can't see it with the pitching.
