Right NOW...obviously Jones. But also...Right NOW, I wouldn't take Phil Hughes either.
to different situations...with Hughes he gets voted in by the fans with jones, the al manager gets the call on who he wants from the os because nobody will get voted in...you would think he would want jones because he is the hottest hitter right now, but with the abundance of outfielders, he may look somewhere else, i dont know...

All pitchers get chosen by the manager. The fans choose the starters for the regular positions and the "Final Vote' on mlb.com with 5-6 choices.

But Jones should make the team if you have to choose one guy... I'd personally rather have Markakis if it were my team but who knows

jpero is so into his "evaluation" of players that he mentions him. Pie had such a bright future ahead of him and he can't let go of the fact that he will never be what he once was. Yet he brings up the fact that he was batting .400 before he got injured...in 20 at bats. What happened with Felix Pie is the same thing that can happen with Matt Wieters or Brian Matusz. I'm not saying it will...but it could.
You also ignore he batted over 300 and had an ops over 800 after Crowley reworked his swing last year and he started getting regular playing time.
I also believe that Pie can possibly become better than Adam Jones. He wont hit fo the power but I believe he can play better defense in CF and Jones should be moved to LF and that he will get on base more and hit for higher average.

Ellsbury, VMart, Pedroia and Beckett are all out right now. That's 4 all-stars right there. And please don't give me that "salary" crap because those are some of the best on that roster. The difference is...they've had guys step up like Nava and McDonald come up and do damage. Also add that Dice-K, Cameron and Hermida have been injured too. And they've only stepped up the more others have gotten injured. This is their newest problem with VMart and Pedroia but they're 3-2 since Pedroia went down and that's still a winning record.
This just happened to hte Sox. They didnt have to deal with all these people being injured at the start of the season where it sets the tone for ht rest of the season.
They are extremely unfortunate to have these guys injured right now but it would have been a lot worse if they had been injured to start the season, in the first couple weeks, like the Orioles had to deal with.

Also you dont watch the Orioles so you have no idea how the loss of Roberts and Pie have effected the team defensively.
There have been so many extended innings and runs scored becaue of pitiful 2nd base play. Not just errors but defensive positioning and not being able to get to balls that Roberts would normally field. That causes a lot of issues for the pitchers and causes them to try to pitch differently cause they dont trust the defense.

It's true. If only he can string that first month from Wiggy with this month from Jones, that stretch of good starts from Matusz, Tillman's minor league no-hitter, Pie's 8-20 this season and Mike Mussina and Cal Ripken's years together and the Orioles can have one hell of a team.

They are in no ways comparable but somehow Sparky and you think so.
You are also writing Pie off after not receiving consistent AB while with the cubs and if you actually took the time you would see he has only amassed the equivalent of one years worth of AB for a full time player. So based on your view every player's first years worht of AB's are a concrete assessment of their abilities.

Roberts was a 4 WAR player last season.
Ellsbury was a 2.7 WAR player.

My favorite is how Pero thinks he is a professional scout and knows how to "accurately rate and compare players"
I laugh everytime
Well...if you don't agree with him...you're wrong so there is really no talking to him until after next season when his predictions of being contenders fall shorts by about 30 games.

Alright...Roberts is the better player. However...I thought Markakis, Jones and Wieters were the STARS of the future. So that 1 loss should obviously hurt...but really? This bad? What is your excuse for Wieters?
