well said. i think there will be some good opportunities come monday after some teams are eliminated.(angels/rays,braves/cards).

That's what I was thinking. I tailed this anyway (the 'dog odds enticed me), but with some reservation. I'm not worried that more motivation makes you play better, but less motivation definitely makes you play worse.
Of course, I don't know why the Mets would care whether the Cards or Braves make it to the playoffs. Do they hate the Braves more? But I do worry that the constant losing (lost 12 out of last 14) makes them more resigned to their fate.
