You can get something real nice for 3,000 mo in Manhattan for sure.... maybe not as nice as the upper east side but you would certainly be living.

Rivera was the best that I can remember that the Yankees gave up in recent times. Lowell is probably next. Nothing special after that. Ohlendorf maybe but his National League play wouldn't transfer to the AL...especially the East.

Sorry Bator, but I'm afraid $3,000 won't get you a "nice plush condo".  You can prob get a large 1 bedroom in a walkup no-doorman building, but any of the nicer, newer condo's will set you back much more than $3k.

Last week, at 15 Central Park West (the recently-built, Central-park facing, premier luxury condo) they sold a 340 sq ft studio (what they called a "maid's chambers") for $1.2 million. 
 
Unfortunately, I'm not embelishing one bit.

I have to agree with greenmon$ter. I'm not all that knowledgeable of appartment prices in Manhattan but I have to imagine that you have to dish out some good money to get something above average.
