Is KC is the most dominant team since the 98 Yankees?

i don't mean dominant in the sense that they are an all time great or garanteed to win a WS. I mean in the gap between the best and 2nd best teams in the league. In 98 the Yankees won 114 games and the next best team Boston won 92. KC is only projected to win 95 games This year which is not dominant. But if you compare the game between them and the 2nd best team (Yanks? Astros?) that gap is tremendous. And their offense is based very much like the Yanks of that era playing small ball and schooling the other team on a nightly basis on the fundamentals of the game. I could see this being a cake walk for KC back to the WS again.

Have you seen Kansas City starting pitchers, they are mostly guys off the scrap heap. Other than Ventura, who has control issue at times, none of their starters have dominant stuff. Their bullpen is their strength. If you bet against Kansas City, and Kansas city has the lead after 5 innings, you might as well rip up your ticket.

Like I said they may be a flawed Pennant winner but it's not like any other team is lighting up the scorecard.

The 01 Mariners were better imo, 116-46 record. They could beat you with offense and pitching. They were the best all around to me.

So basically you are saying the Royals are a strong pick to win the American Leauge ...I will be watching this season to see what happens but I think the Royals might win the American League

That Mariners team couldn't even beat the Yankees in the ALCS that year, when it came down to it the remnants of what was left from their great 98 team still beat them.

The 98 Yankees team was amazing. The one bit of trouble they got in all year when they get down 2-1 in the ALCS to their nemesis at the time Cleveland, and won the next seven games to close out the championship. That team had above average to great players at seemingly every position and every guy had serious moxy and was playing the best baseball of their careers. Every guy was a straight up "gamer" and the pitching staff was exactly the same. El Duque was the guy who turned in the biggest performance of that entire season of all people.

I'm not tryin to be a jerk in the slightest, but I think people forget how awesome that 98 team was. Like I said, they beat the 2001 mariners team still three years later!!!

not taking you being a jerk at all :) If I remember the M's took their foot off the pedal that year and couldn't get it back. That being said, the Yankees had that killer instinct in the playoffs back then. And we know the regular season doesn't matter after 162. There was a few years there that the wildcard won more rings than did the division winners.  I guess I was taking this guys question as more of regular season.

This topic isn't to compare who the better team is in each era. It's to discuss whether The difference between KC and the 2nd best team in the league is the biggest gap since the 98 Yankees? The 01 Ms has the Yanks in their prime to compete with, as well as an equally tough 100 win A's team.

KC won 2 games and lost 1 at home to Tor.
But we'll see tonight as KC plays in Tor,
and see if Tulo & co.
and Cy Price (vs. Cueto) sweep 'em...

Sale vs. Cueto - Sale's better, not just cuz he's a southpaw,
and the rest of the CWS starters are significantly better than KC's.
If Yoenis reunites with Abreu these Cubans can clobber Eaton in
on a par with the likes of old man Morales & co.

CWS dominated Tor recently - would of swept Tor at home but
for some bad calls in a 2-1 loss — Split the series H&A 3-3.

At least MLB's getting more interesting now
