Reds: I would like to risk the run line here but I respect the way the Cubs are hitting lately and think it best to keep the push as a possibility. I am really counting on Edwin Jackson to stop imitating a major league pitcher and act like himself. He had a quality start last time out but it was only the second in his last 6 and he has not had b2b quality starts yet this year. The Reds are impressive versus righty anyway with 9 of their last 15 going over the benchmark with a 4.80 oera.

Blue Jays: Retired Yankee fans and the Northeastern crowd continue to throw money at them while ignoring the fact Hutchison is having a fine year and Kuroda is not. You really don’t think the BJ’s have forgotten the sweep in N.Y. last week do you? Uh, uh, they will lay it on as thick as possible. Hutchison has been knocked off the hill twice this year versus the Yankees but today is his day.

Mets: Folks probably think yesterday was an aberration and a fine, fine team like the A’s with Kazmir on the hill should not lose to the scruffy Mets with a fat old man on the hill, but it don’t work that way friends. The Mets are a lefty hitting club and if they can tune up on Kazmir for 3 innings Brad Mills should not be a problem. I won with Wheeler in Miami when he tossed a 1-0 shutout and said he was under valued. I think he still is.

Tigers: Sanchez is currently the top pitcher in a very fine Tigers rotation and has knocked out 12 consecutive quality starts. Joe Saunders best days are way behind him and he would not have a major league job if the Rangers were not desperate for healthy bodies to run out there. Ol’ Joe is 0-6 h2h versus his opponents and 2-4 in quality starts. As if we should need it the Tigers offense is in better shape than the Rangers too. No contest. I made Sanchez -198 for this one and would play the run line except that laying a half he also goes to negative odds and I won’t lay runs and odds in the same MLB game. Someone is bound to remind me I already have, and it wouldn’t have made any difference anyway because the Dodgers got beat F5, but that game just reminded me of how foolish it can be at any time. No more.

Astros: Ah! The perfect storm! The Astros best young righty versus an offense that had trouble putting up 3 for us last night against Feldman, while the Braves counter with a lefty, which is much better than a righty for the Astros. The Astros are currently popping lefty starters for 5.2 earned runs per 9 and that gives us starter, offense and home field at +$ price. There are no guarantees, but this is as good as it gets.
